Blood Type History, Human Migrations (Blam Thread)
USC ^ | July 01, 05 | Dennis O'Neil

Posted on 07/03/2005 1:47:49 PM PDT by Little Bill

I have been interested in human migrations for many years. One of the markers of a population is the distribution of a blood type among a given population.

I got interested in this because the blood type distribution in the UK is nearly 50/50 A/O, a small sample has other blood types.

My dear old Ma is Black Irish and is A/B, not a common blood type in the part of Ireland where her family originated.

Click on the link for distributions.

" Probably Blam's SundaLand refugees were MN, arrived there, and are now nearly extinct. :'D"

Hmmm. Not so sure. I think a lot of us came from there. The data to support that speculation is not in yet. LOL.

Celtic Found To Have Ancient Roots

"The researchers' method even dates the fork points in their language tree, although the dates have a wide range of possibility. The initial splitting of Indo-European in Europe occurred around 8100 B.C., give or take 1,900 years, and the divergence between the continental and British versions of Gaelic took place in 3200 B.C., plus or minus 1,500 years, they calculate."

The oldest paper ever found (in China) had Tocharian written on it. Tocharian A & B is an extinct Indo-European language that is related closest to ancient Celtic. (Source: Professor Victor Mair)

Very interesting. Not what one would expect by language distribution either except slightly in central Asia.

Yup. Blood types and DNA are more reliable indicators than language though.

These patterns of ABO and Diego blood type distributions are not similar to those for skin color or other so-called "racial" traits.

No, but the ABO blood types in the Americas match up very well with the areas of the three superfamilies of Native American languages.

The ABO Bloodtype mutations may be very recent, possibly since the Wurm Glaciation.

For sure, it does kind of fit the folk belief in origins in Southeast Asia now that I look at it more closely. However, the language distribution begs the question of the spotty mix of language families.

It's an excellent map. FReeper JimSEA turned me onto this oppenheimer fellow. I've read two of his books now, both excellent too. Books: Eden In The East and Out Of Eden

" IonImplantGuru"

BTW, I started out in the SC business at National in '67. Retired from TI (Houston) at the end of '94. I was the engineering manager of the microphotolithography area when I retired. Whew, what a ride.

Hmm... My blood type is O- and my ancesters came from NorthEastern North America, Czechoslovakia, Germany and the British Isles. Child #1 is B+ and his father is first generation out of the east coast of Italy. The other 3 are A+, A+, & O+, their father's ancesters came from Ireland and NorthCentral North America. According to your charts We're all in the minority for our origins. IOW, it's no wonder we're an unusual lot.

Thanks for the reference to the Blue People. We had recent arrivals from Eastern Kentucky in our local schools and I grow up knowing several folks whose skin was blue. All were named Harris.
