Catholic Caucus: How to Fight FOCA with all resources of the Church
November 18, 2008 | Vanity

Posted on 11/18/2008 7:32:11 PM PST by topher

How does one send a powerful message? That is easy. Just let the person know what the feelings you have and your Church has -- in a forceful way.

How do we send a forceful, powerful message to pro-abortion politicians (some Catholic) that will support FOCA [The Freedom of Choice Act]? Simple. Recall all members of the House and Senate. It must be all members that face recall.

But there is a catch. If a politician wishes to avoid recall petitions, then the politician agrees to a BINDING LEGAL CONTRACT that they will forcefully try to stop FOCA in the House and Senate.

If they sign a binding petition that they will block F.O.C.A., then recall efforts against that politician will be stopped.

It is a simple way to get all the US Bishops united in fighting FOCA.

It is a simple way to get the Knights of Columbus involved in Fighting FOCA.

This is an extenstion of the petition drive on http://www.FightFOCA.com/

Basically, there would be a separate petition for members of Congress (House and Senate) to sign that is binding under the laws of perjury and other laws (if they fail to met these conditions). I believe a Legal, binding agreement could be formed that the House and Senate members sign if they wish to avoid further re-call effort.

They must either withdraw their name and face subsequent recall actions or follow the demands of the petition:

1. Stopping the Senate Act and House Act at the Committee level.

2. Filibustering the Act on the Senate level.

3. Voting against all motions that might consider FOCA for passage.

There may be other "requirements" for those who agree to stop recall efforts against them.

For example, Bob Casey (Jr) of Pennsylvania would face recall if he did not agree to filibuster the legislation. So would Susan Collins (Republican) of Maine and Mary Landrieu (Democrat) of Louisiana.

Just as groups banded together to block homosexual unions as marriage in the 2008 election, so will a number of groups band together to block FOCA.

US Catholic Church would not be facing any sort of problems by playing favorites with this. It is a method to stop a piece of legislation that is vile to the Catholic Church.

A recall effort getting 60+ million Catholics involved is an interesting idea, in my opinion...

How 'bout this: block it by voting against it's supporters?

Are the Catholics going to start acting like the press and start opposing those they voted ino office?

Do not get shocked if you receive the same response as the press does.

There is Strong Support for this legislation in the next Congress.

One benefit of a national recall drive is that some politicians might face being voted out of office the next election if they support FOCA because of this effort.

For example, Rhode Island is a heavily Catholic state.

Get all the Catholics to realize how "Radical" this legislation is and who co-sponsors it from Rhode Island might be a shock to Rhode Island Catholics... (Hint: last name Kennedy)

This is just one example...

Bishop Martino of the Diocese of Scranton should go after Senator Bob Casey Jr of Pa. to filubuster this bill.

If Casey Jr. will not filubuster this bill, then consider it this law of the land. Casey Jr is suppose to be Pro Life but that is a joke, he has a 65% NARAL voting record.

The other Catholic Senators and congressmen don’t give a flip about FOCA.

The recent USCCB meeting in Baltimore had the resulting consent of the Bishops: "Catholics must take a stand against abortion!"

Either talk is cheap or the Bishops must follow the words that Archbishop Chaput has in his book Render Unto Caesar about this and leadership of the Church...

Only problem is that the Constitution does NOT provide for the recall of Federal Offices.

I am so excited. Our pastor’s column for this next week is about FOCA. He preaches with the Bible in one hand and the newspaper in the other. LOL — figuratively speaking, of course.

We can give them HELL!!!...

I really don't think they receive ENOUGH phone calls from us Catholics...

They really do not receive enough FAXES from us Catholics...

They do not have enough LIFE CHAINS from us Catholics in front of their offices...

They need to understand that us Catholics will decide to help them see that F.O.C.A. is evil...

Even if we have to shout it in their deaf ears 24 hours a day for seven days a week...

There is a good YouTube:

Getting Catholics aware of whats to come with ... --http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cwYKnVgITs

These members of Congress and Senate really like crowds outside their offices...

And the one I like best: Bishops listed by state

I did something from Louisiana Right to Life today that FOCA may not be considered in the next year...

There is concern, on their part, about the Hyde Amendment being overturned before that...

+God bless.
