Historically, adult converts were accepted at any time the supervising priest decided they were ready.

I dislike Gingrich but the “three wives” statement might be inaccurate, since his first wife is dead.

However, since he married his second wife when he was divorced but his first wife was dying of cancer, in the eyes of the Catholic church they might consider this second marriage a non sacramental marriage that can be dissolved.

Ergo, he might technically be able to marry his present wife in the Catholic church.

I figure he needs repentance, and has finally found the Lord. He returned to the Lord when he rejoined the Baptist church a few years ago, and now has decided to change to the Catholic church to follow Christ.

Others even worse than Gingrich have repented and changed their lives around: From Dr. Nathanson to Chuck Colson to Anne Rice.

Pray for him.

Newt’s changed a lot since then.

Probably not as much as you or me. I would like all the illegals expelled period, chain migration stopped etc. I think Newts idea is to make it impossible for employers to hire illegals.

This differs from Obama who wants to kill all jobs.

No. Just the opposite. The whole point of my post was that I’m not offended at politicians who get divorced in response to another poster who was comparing Ronald Reagan and Newt Gingrich. I was referring to Newt Gingrich cheating on his wife, not Ronald Reagan on Jane Wyman.

It should be noted that Wyman was cheating on Ronald Reagan. She was married a total of five times but after her final divorce in 1965 she never remarried. She converted to Catholicism and was buried dressed in the habit of a Dominican nun.

I did not know that. I also didn’t know she was married 5 times.
