The president of the US bishops’ conference has said that it is “getting harder and harder” to believe that President Obama has a genuine commitment to religious liberty.

Don't count on it. The Catholic hierarchy has been running interference for liberals since I was in high school, at least. I'm 61.

The Catholic hierarchy fought for Hillarycare which got me involved in politics in the first place...on the side of decency.
The Catholic hierarchy was pro-Obama to a large majority. I suspect the "leaders" will line up behind Obama in droves this November. The USCCB is a collection of clowns in the large majority. My guess is they actually take themselves seriously.
They are getting from Obama exactly what they invited. To complain these days is pretty clown-like.

In my state, we don’t have real estate taxes for church owned property that is used for religious purposes, because the power to tax, is the power to destroy.
So, if Obama makes the church pay premiums for insurance for a service that the church does not condone, is it an unlawful tax on a church, even if it is called something else like a “premium?”
The power to tax is the power to destroy, and the power to tax just a little is also the power to destroy.
The founders sought independence of the colonies because after revoking all of the other intolerable acts, the King still demanded just one little tax to prove the principle. The founders knew that the power to tax, even just a little bit, is the power to be a despot.

What Obama means is that, when we read into the Constitution what is really meant, was this:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..., except that the phrase “no law” means really a few little laws like when the government decides that something needs to be provided free of charge under the idea that is healthcare, even though the prevention of pregnancy is not an illness, and the religion has fundamental tenants against contraception, then the Congress can make a law taxing that religion and forcing it to pay for something it does not believe, especially when many in the faith don’t honor the rule.”

It’s really tough to take the average FGD liar seriously too many times in a row. Obama is a liar who aspires only to additional power.

Since Archbishop Dolan will be meeting with the Pope this weekend, maybe he could politely ask him to soon issue a papal encyclical calling for religious freedom around the globe.
Christianity is under siege from the White House to China to Egypt. The Pope could also help by issuing a letter to American Catholics to be read in churches urging them to stand up against Obama’s anti-religious HHS mandate. The Sunday before the presidential election would be an excellent time to do this.
I’d like to send the Archbishop some encouragement and thanks for his recent actions and statements.
Anyone have any ideas on how?
