President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.

Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

Not being buggable in this day and age could easily be a crucial survival skill! THANKS!

One would hope this anarchy doesn't spread...Ok I threw it out there...Someone calm me down

It might, but no further than it did during the Watts or Rodney King episodes. The stability of the nation is not in jeopardy the way it might be if we had seen a nuclear bomb go off in New Orleans with a similar casualty count. The thought that such an event could happen anywhere, rather than being the result of a weather and geographic phenomenon specific to a certain part of the country, might lead to the kind of breakdown in order you fear.

Wasn't my problem. Just wanted someone to address it.

Evidently the settings features take care of it.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Their true colors are showing on national television. It just blows my mind to see a grown woman trying to beat in glass to steal!

My heart truly breaks for these people, but it angers me to hear them complain that they aren't getting any help at all. They were living off of the government, they're stealing from people, they stayed behind to have a hurricane party and they have the audacity to yell that they aren't getting any help?!?! It makes my skin crawl. < /end rant >

Gettin' the dawgs the hell out of Dodge . . . pray for their safety . . . these are you and me, our neighbors, trying to help, and now the people of NO are driving them away and trying to hurt them . . .

Gonna let the SuperDome burn . . . U.S. Military just ordered the NOFD to get out, not go in after the fire, because they cannot secure them . . .
