Blame Bush

There are a few little-regarded truths that have been buried under the relentlessly spewed pile of lies that were used to demonize George W. Bush and the Republican Congress from the day Al Gore failed to carry his own home State in the 2000 Election until… well… it’s still pretty much a leftist pastime.

The horror of “the last 8 years” has become it’s own self-perpetuating meme. The problem is that it’s a meme without meaning. Two of those eight years – now stretched to three out of the last nine – saw fiscal and regulatory policies determined by the Democrat Congressional majority, elected in 2006. Every economic indicator available shows that this is where America’s recent tribulations began.

The real horror – the years since the Democrat Congress rose to absolute power – hasn’t seen much discussion. It’s “all Bush’s fault”, as they say. But as the last ten years recede into the rear view mirror, we can see them in context. And 20/20 hindsight can often be quite revealing.

Read the whole thing, then pass it along to your friends.

Obama to Crush Economy with Massive CO2 Taxes as Early as Next Week

RICK MORAN: Media’s Tea Party Narrative Just Jumped The Shark. “Gallup actually gives better numbers for party affiliation than the GOP leaning Winston Group; 48% Republican and 43% independent with 8% self identified Democrats. And did Gallup really measure 32% of all Democrats in America supporting the tea partiers? Ooops. There goes the narrative.” BILL WHITTLE: Support Your Local Tea Party.

More on the narrative, here. Best headline: Tea Party More Popular Than Obama, Frank Rich Hardest Hit.

CNN: Disgruntled Democrats Join The Tea Party. Plus, 53% now trust Republicans more than Democrats on health care. And Ed Driscoll observes: In the future, everyone will be a Klansman for 15 minutes.

MEDIA DOUBLE STANDARDS on protests and speech. “What do you think the general media response would be if 10,000 Tea Party activists shut down the streets of a major city, overran the cops, smashed windows, looted stores, and caused millions of dollars in damage? ‘The vast majority of demonstrators were peaceful’? Don’t bet on it.”

S.F.’s housing mob and the death of property rights

April 5, 2010 10:13 AM by Michelle Malkin

I’ve reported many times about the housing entitlement mob over the past several years. Boston has self-proclaimed bank terrorist and housing entitlement shakedown artist Bruce Marks of the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA). Baltimore had criminal home invaders masquerading as bogus foreclosure victims.

In San Francisco, the housing entitlement mob is led by an anarchist-Marxist-inspired “social justice” group called “Homes Not Jails” that grew out of the Food Not Bombs/San Francisco Tenants Union alliance.

On Easter Sunday, the property rights-trampling mobsters of “Homes Not Jails” besieged a privately-owned duplex building while police officers stood around watching them illegally trespass. And San Francisco wonders why it’s a dying city:

Good Grief!… That pitch would make any 9 year-old girl blush.

Obama was booed loudly at the Nationals Game today in Washington DC, a city where he collected over 90% of the vote in 2008. To top it off, he threw an arcing sissy pitch that barely made it to home plate. It’s a good thing that catcher can jump.

The MSNBC hosts came to his defense in this clip, insisting that Bush was probably booed more:

Obama Limits When U.S. Would Use Nuclear Arms

Tea Party event, Cincinnati, Ohio

Good thing Obama says he disregards polls; He wouldn’t like these.

While you were searching for Easter eggs (you missed one behind the books, bottom shelf), we were searching for recent items for the Monday morning poll basket.

President Obama recently appeared to endorse offshore oil drilling in certain areas, though any oil and gas production is years away. This poll found an overwhelming majority of Americans agree on the need for offshore drilling and a clear majority support it off the entire U.S. coastline. They would include California and New England, strongly Democratic areas that Obama still excludes.

Now that Obama has signed his beloved healthcare legislation and despite his continued stumping for the measure, CBS News finds a) the stumping has been ineffective, b) most Americans don't like the bill (53%), c) many expect the quality of care to decrease while costs continue to increase and d) few see anything in it for them. Other than that, it's a huge public relations success.

As another result of the passage and preceding rancorous healthcare debate, Rasmussen Reports finds that 53% of Americans now say they trust Republicans more with this traditionally Democratic issue, while 37% still trust that party.

As yet another result, Obama's overall approval rating has now hit the lowest point since he....

...took office --

Poll news for Nevada’s Democrat Harry Reid: 62% there don’t like incumbents or the healthcare bill. American voters are angry about numerous things and their prime targets of opportunity in 2010 are incumbents.

Nearly a thousand tea party patriots greeted the Tea Party Express to St. Louis today.

The crew with the Tea Party Express put on a terrific show for conservative crowd.

The express rolled into Frontier Park in St. Charles, just west of St. Louis at 3:00 PM.

A spring shower soaked the local protesters before the Tea Party Express arrived. Then it heated up to 80 degrees. But, the tea party protesters were fired up anyway.

Kevin Jackson, blogger at The Black Sphere and author of The Big Black Lie traveled with the bus in Arkansas and Missouri before reaching St. Louis.

Local tea party patriot Stephanie Rubach brought her family to this rally.

Kevin Jackson excited the crowd before the express arrived.

Gold Star mother Debbie Lee, the founder of America’s Mighty Warriors, spoke to the crowd. She is traveling with the Tea Party Express.

Read the Transcript and Freak

Until I read the transcript of President Barack Obama's rambling, incoherent 2,600-word answer to a simple question from "Doris" at an appearance in Charlotte, N.C., about how we can afford Obamacare when we are already overtaxed, I dismissed as absurd the notion that he's a Manchurian candidate -- a plant. I still do, but after reading his response, I seriously almost have to question his competence.

I didn't watch the video, but the unscripted answer -- no disrespect intended -- sounds as if it was delivered by a drunk on an ideological mission. His answer was a veritable clinic in narcissistic circumlocution, a mishmash of barely related talking points about his health care plan -- not about taxes, as Doris had requested.

Where are all these liberal elitists, including those masquerading as conservative intellectuals, who told us they voted for him largely based on his intellectual acuity? Pride means never having to say you're sorry. But you should be.

A Complete List Of Bad Things Attributed To Global Warming

Hardly a day goes by that the media don't blame something on global warming. Or so it seems. The British-based science watchdog, Number Watch, wondered just how many and went to the trouble of documenting them.

It has kept on its Web site a near-comprehensive set of links to a long list of things attributed by either scientific research or the media to global warming. As you read it, some items will strike you as contradictory. Others, perhaps, as merely absurd. And still others as factually impossible.

However they strike you, in perusing the list one thing will become clear: just how much the fear of global warming has come to taint both science and news reporting on the issue.

Following is the list of phenomena (756 entries in all) linked at one time or another to warming. They range from acne, bubonic plague and a drop in circumcisions to Yellow fever, whale beachings, walrus stampedes, witchcraft executions and the threat of zebra mussels.

Actual links to stories that make the claims listed below can be found at http://www.numberwatch.co.uk/warmlist.htm. (Below the list are some claims that no longer have working Internet links.)

"Bozo would be a better president than this clown."

Obama Raises White Flag Over America

There’s a white flag flying over America this morning and it was run up the flagpole by President Barack Obama without the knowledge or permission of the American people.

Barack Obama telegraphs to the world that the US won't use nukes

Barack Obama has been in office for one year and two months. During that time, he has weakened the United States economically by running up a $1.2 trillion deficit. His ten year budget will lead to a debt of $20 trillion, or 90% of GDP, by 2o2o, putting us at a risk for financial ruin.

Now, he is working to weaken the United States militarily. Barack Obama has told the entire world that the United States won't use nuclear bombs for self defense, excepting Iran and North Korea. He won't use them even if we're hit by a biological or chemical weapons:

Discussing his approach to nuclear security the day before formally releasing his new strategy, Mr. Obama described his policy as part of a broader effort to edge the world toward making nuclear weapons obsolete, and to create incentives for countries to give up any nuclear ambitions. To set an example, the new strategy renounces the development of any new nuclear weapons, overruling the initial position of his own defense secretary.

Mr. Obama's strategy is a sharp shift from those adopted by his predecessors and seeks to revamp the nation's nuclear posture for a new age in which rogue states and terrorist organizations are greater threats than traditional powers like Russia and China.

It eliminates much of the ambiguity that has deliberately existed in American nuclear policy since the opening days of the Cold War. For the first time, the United States is explicitly committing not to use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear states that are in compliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, even if they attacked the United States with biological or chemical weapons, or launched a crippling cyberattack.

"I'm going to preserve all the tools that are necessary in order to make sure that the American people are safe and secure," Mr. Obama said during the interview in the Oval Office.

White House officials said that the new strategy will leave open the option of reconsidering the use of nuclear retaliation against a biological attack, if the development of such weapons reaches a level that makes United States vulnerable to a devastating strike.

After erecting a veritable wall of secrecy and obfuscation around his administration for more than a year, President Obama decides now is the time to be transparent and telegraphs our nuclear weapons strategy to our enemies and the rest of the world?

"I expect nothing less from a Marxist that wishes to tell all his 'friends' they can come in and wantonly slaughter American citizens while he idly stands around discussing which Marxist program he's going to enact next.

This will make an outstanding political ad much like "The bear in the woods", only intensified by hav1inge Obama stating his intentions to roll over and play dead on camera.

And here all this time I thought it was Biden that was the clown in this posse. "

"The politics of liberal guilt.

Wreck the economy, redistribute wealth, and now we won't even defend ourselves.

The world just became a more dangerous place."

"Obama, Reid and Pelosi crew... they're reminding me of toddlers pushing over the pretty thing because it'll make such a funny sound when it crashes."

Øbozo rides again:

Obama: Just Want To Let Everyone Know I'm Not Going To Nuke You

—DrewM.

Obama's long awaited and delayed Nuclear Posture Review is being released today. According to reports, it lays out guidelines and strategies you'd expect from a left wing Democrat who wants to rid the world of nuclear weapons and has a fetish for arms control agreements.

This is related to Gabe's post below. Obama didn't bother reading about the nuclear attack plans because he pretty much has no intention of ever using them.

Under the new policy, the administration will foreswear the use of the deadly weapons against nonnuclear countries, officials said, in contrast to previous administrations, which indicated they might use nuclear arms against nonnuclear states in retaliation for a biological or chemical attack.

But Obama included a major caveat: The countries must be in compliance with their nonproliferation obligations under international treaties. That loophole would mean Iran would remain on the potential target list.

The new policy will also describe the purpose of U.S. weapons as being fundamentally for deterrence. Some Democratic legislators had urged Obama to go further and declare that the United States would not use nuclear weapons first in a conflict. But officials in the Defense and State departments worried that such a change could unnerve allies protected by the U.S. nuclear "umbrella."

First let's be honest, it was always going to be hard for any President to launch a nuclear attack on a country that did not attack us with nukes first but instead used some other WMD like chemical or biological agents. The policy may have been a bluff. Or it may not have. That strategic ambiguity was important because when it comes to WMD all the US has is nukes. We gave up our offensive bio-weapons program in the early 70s and are in the process of destroying our stockpile of chemical weapons.

Thanks to Obama, current or future rogue states have something new to add into their calculations. Is it likely that a country is going to risk overwhelming conventional retaliation? No but it's certainly not impossible. After the last 8+ years it's easy to imagine a case where US forces are tied down and there may not be enough assets in the cupboard to go after someone else conventionally. Does that give an opening to a nut job somewhere else he figures he doesn't face a nuclear response? Seems like it might be something on the plus side for a future Saddam.

Liberals will decry this kind of thinking as monsters under the bed, right wing paranoia. My response is, "Yeah. So?" Defense planners have to be overly cautious and should have as many options as possible available to them. What exactly do we gain by removing the ambiguity about when and against who we will use nuclear weapons?

This policy isn't based on sound strategic thinking. It's based on irrational fear (it's not as if the old policy led to an accidental nuclear war) and a deep seated belief by liberals that America is dangerous and must be constrained. More than that they want to make sure the world sees that America is being constrained and that they, the good and wise liberals, are responsible for it.

This is the strategic version of the legalization of the War on Terror...liberals are willing to gamble with the lives of others so long as they can engage in moral preening. The fact that it makes the world less safe, not more, is simply a price they are willing to pay.

15 As PA has noted for many months, this person in the Oval Office not only lacks the ideological fitness for he job, he lacks the mental stability. A little late to the party but still welcome is Roger L. Simon,
over at pajamasmedia.com with his post "President Weirdo."

20

Obama just painted the whole US a big target sign.

Is there anything else up his sleeves?  The day's still young, there is more room for this bufoon to screw up.

"China and Russia now know they can get in at least one free nuke strike on America...Every time the U.S. has unilaterally disarmed we have gone into a major war a few years later...the blood of many innocents will be on Obama's hands. He will bear direct responsibility for it, although he'll probably just blame Bush again."

Anyone at HQ reviewed Barack's 1983 article "Breaking the War Mentality?"

100

And along the lines of what we have been discussing today comes this from the Associated Press:

The new U.S.-Russian arms control treaty is a much better deal for Russia than its predecessor, but Moscow reserves the right to withdraw from it if a planned U.S. missile defense system grows into a threat, Russia's foreign minister said Tuesday.

So, the Russians not only get a better deal, but also the right to withdrawl from the deal under the pretense that the SDI is a threat.

If you ever wondered what it would be like to have a genuine psychotic in the White House... you're welcome.

Obama Was Not Briefed on Nuclear-Defense Plans Until "Some Months" In Office

—Gabriel Malor

There's a certain thing I do where I know I've got mail that I should open sooner rather than later, but instead I throw it on a counter and pretend to forget about it because I don't want to deal with it. As long as I don't actually open them, I can ignore them. It's a bury-my-head-in-the-sand maneuver and it's dumb, because I know what's in most of those letters.

Apparently, the President does the same thing:

According to a knowledgeable source who would not be identified discussing sensitive national-security matters, President Obama wasn't briefed on the U.S. nuclear-strike plan against Russia and China until some months after he had taken office. "He thought it was insane," says the source. (The reason for the delay is unclear; the White House did not respond to repeated inquiries.)

Warning: the rest of that Newsweek article is partisan trash, including comparisons between Obama and President Reagan and more public knob gobbling than anyone should be comfortable with.

But those three lines jumped out at me because it seems pretty damned important that the President doesn't just bury his head in the sand when he gets uncomfortable. Republicans have been pointing out for a year just how neglectful Obama has been addressing national security concerns. After every major blunder Democrats try and reassure the public that it's not neglect, but rather subtlety.

It's neglect.

266 Reagan was a real American and believed in the American way.  Reagan was always mindful not to spend taxpayer money for his own personal benefit. This moron hates everything America stands for.  He only likes the private plane, his endless photo ops, the parties, parties, parties, where he serves the $100/# beef, and thinks we all want him spoiling the baseball games and basketball games, he has expensive date nights, all on the taxpayer dime.  Bush didn't have the endless cocktail parties because he said no business gets done at a cocktail party.  Of course he didn't have the drinking problem of BO.  I suppose we should give the girly guy a break, he's never had a real job before he doesn't know what to do.

President Obama is expected to restrict US nuclear weapons use, even in self-defense.  According to the Times Online, he will announce the doctrine that the US will not retaliate against biological or chemical attacks, for as long as the attacker adheres to the nonproliferation treaty.

In an interview with The New York Times ahead of the unveiling of his much anticipated revamped nuclear policy, Mr Obama said an exception would be made for “outliers like Iran and North Korea” that have violated the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

But in a striking departure from the position taken by his predecessors, he said that the US would explicitly commit for the first time to not using nuclear weapons against non-nuclear states that adhere to the nuclear treaty, even if they attack with biological or chemical weapons.

The given reason for the new declaration is to clarify the circumstances under which the US will use nuclear weapons without necessarily adopting an “no first use” pledge. The President also added he would not develop any new nuclear weapons on the way making such devices “obsolete”.

If the attacker is a member in good standing with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Club then he gets a Get Out of Nuclear Annihilation For Free card. Guess we’ll just give the attacker a verbal tongue lashing and write him an angry letter how angry we are with him.

End of a Honeymoon?

My, my, my,  so the Eurotrash finally realized that The One is a fake, a phony, and a fraud (just like a lot of dumb, deluded people here in the colonies). Obama identifies with the Third World not with Europe and he has no intention of defending you.  So you actually might start missing “Cowboy Bush” soon?

by H.D.S. Greenway

EUROPA IS pining for what she believes is unrequited love when it comes to the United States. Having fallen head over heals for Barack Obama, Europe is now feeling jilted.

In a paper entitled “End of a Honeymoon,’’ the German Marshall Fund’s Constanze Stelzenmuller recently wrote: “It seemed as though a fairytale had come true’’ when America elected the president of Europe’s dreams. “But in all myths and fairytales, wish fulfillment is, of course, the stuff of tragedy,’’ he wrote. Obama may be “a man of Western values,’’ but he was not formed by the Cold War’s east-west divide, and, as he said himself, he is the “first Pacific president. ’’

The press made much of President Nicolas Sarkozy’s visit to the United States, describing it as fence-mending, and saying that Obama finally granted the French president the special gesture he craved: a meal for the French first couple in Obama’s family dining room. Sarkozy, the most pro-American French president in a long time, had felt miffed because the Obamas had chosen to eat at a left bank restaurant instead of in the Elysee Palace.

In Britain, where a parliamentary foreign affairs committee recently called for a reassessment of the traditional bonds that bound America and Britain, the reaction was vociferous. “The Special Relationship Is Over . . . Now Stop Calling Us America’s Poodle,’’ headlined the Guardian. The committee warned that Prime Minister Tony Blair’s eagerness to join Bush in attacking Iraq had hurt Britain’s standing in the world. The subservient “poodle’’ image “is deeply damaging to the reputation and interests of the United Kingdom, ’’ the parliamentarians said.

The “special relationship’’ that Franklin Roosevelt formed with Churchill against Hitler was tested in 1956 when President Eisenhower told Britain, France and Israel to stop their invasion of Egypt and restore the status quo ante. While France took home the message that the United States could not be trusted, the British decided never again to let their foreign policy drift too far from that of the United States.

Establishment Elitist Republicans under seige

by Rodan ( 93 Comments › )
Filed under Elections 2010, George W. Bush, John McCain, Politics, Progressives, Republican Party at April 6th, 2010 - 7:00 am

The great Conservative rebellion is finally aiming at a target that needs to called out, the Elitist Establishment Republicans. This faction of the GOP, called Rockefeller Republicans or Compassionate Conservatives, has held back the Right and it’s ideas for too long. Typified by political eunuch Sen. Lindsey Graham, these Elitist have collaborated with the Democrats on Progressive issues. Make no mistake about it, these Establishment Republicans are Progressives and agree with Democrats that government must solve our problems. Now GOP voters are rejecting the quislings and like the deer in a headlight, they don’t know what to do.

For years, establishment Republicans have urged the party’s conservative wing to get over its obsession with social issues and focus on fiscal issues. Well, in 2010 they are getting their wish. The nation is experiencing a popular backlash against the expansion of government and runaway federal spending, and across the country fiscally conservative candidates are taking advantage of this popular groundswell — in some cases to the detriment of establishment Republican candidates.

In Texas, for example, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison challenged Gov. Rick Perry in the Republican primary and started out with a commanding lead. But Perry successfully portrayed Hutchison as having become part of the Washington establishment — dubbing her “Kay Bailout” and running an ad tagging her the “Earmark Queen” (to the tune of Abba’s “Dancing Queen”). Hutchison responded by declaring that her success in bringing money home for Texas should be “celebrated and appreciated.” Apparently, Texans are not in a celebratory or appreciative mood. She lost to Perry 51 percent to 30 percent. (Indeed, anti-Washington sentiment in Texas is so strong that a little-known, underfunded Tea Party candidate garnered 18 percent of the vote).

Read the Rest: For old-school GOP, a hard lesson on fiscal issues

For a long time these GOP moderates claimed to be Economic Conservatives and Social Liberals. In reality, they were Economic Progressives who masked as Conservatives because they were not as far Left as the Democrats. The Tea Party movement is exposing the Elitist Establishment Republicans as the charlatans they are. The era of the Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Georg Bush and David Frum Republican is over. Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio and Sarah Palin are the future of the Republican Party. Real authentic Conservatism based on individualism and economic freedom and a foreign policy based on American interests is what the New Right is about.

15 Depressing Facts About The State Of California

Riot is the Voice of the unheard

"The Tea Party emerges as not only outrageous, but they have turned up the volume in ways that even Code Pink have not been able to do," Rep. Maxine Waters said the other day on MSNBC. A video (warning: some adult language) from Breitbart.tv has been making the rounds interspersing quotes from that MSNBC interview with clips from a 2007 "antiwar" rally where Waters fulminated about then-President Bush and other members of his administration.

The Breitbart video very effectively makes the case that Waters is guilty of hypocrisy. Her behavior at the rally is at least as unattractive as her description of the tea partiers' conduct. On the other hand, so what? When has a politician ever complained about the other side's incivility without being guilty of hypocrisy.

But a look further back into Waters's history reveals her hypocrisy to be far worse than is typical. The last time America experienced political mob violence--the Los Angeles riots of 1992--Waters was there offering excuses and justifications.

Giuliani: Obama's Anti-Nuke Move 'Left-Wing Dream'

Obamalateral Disarmament

National Security: Aiming at a world where nuclear weapons are obsolete, the administration's nuclear posture review leaves a world without American nuclear weapons and the backbone to use them.

After his stunning bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941, Japanese Adm. Isoroku Yamamoto lamented that all that had been accomplished was to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.

Under policies announced by the Obama administration, a devastating chemical or biological attack on this country might merely awaken our very own Hamlet and fill him with a terrible sense of angst.

We have said before that rather than strive for a world without nuclear weapons, we should strive for a world without enemies willing to use them against us. Our retaliatory power should be unquestioned, as should be our willingness to use it. President Reagan called this proven and successful policy peace through strength. It has been replaced by a hair-splitting policy of nuance.

The U.S. is now promising not to use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear states that are in compliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, even if they attack America with biological or chemical weapons or launch a paralyzing cyberattack.

This is good news for our enemies to know — they can wipe out much of New York City, but as long as their signature is on that piece of paper, their capital is safe from becoming a pile of irradiated rubble. We are not making this up.

Obama’s politicized, profligate U.S. census

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 7, 2010 09:48 AM

My syndicated column today responds to Karl Rove’s latest Census PSA and spreads the word about what census workers have been e-mailing me about their politicized, profligate jobs.

True Confessions from America’s Census Workers

President Obama’s politicized, profligate U.S. census drive is so desperate for positive press that it has now recruited former Bush senior adviser Karl Rove to do public service announcements. Rove pleads on video: “Please answer the 10 easy questions. They’re almost the same ones Madison helped write for the first census back in 1790.” Message: If you don’t join the census bandwagon, James Madison will have lost!

Sorry, Mr. Rove. Playing the Founding Fathers card isn’t going to quell conservative criticism of how the Obama administration has exploited the census boondoggle for both economic and ideological gain.

For the record, I have no beef with the constitutional mandate. I complied by filling out my census form and sending it back — with “American” in the blank for race/ethnicity to register my opposition to government racial classifications. Despite apocalyptic suggestions by census officials and some Republican politicians that conservatives are recklessly boycotting the decennial head count, analysis by both the right-leaning Daily Caller and left-leaning Plum Line websites shows that return rates from conservative counties are in line with national averages.

So, what makes the Obama census campaign different from other census programs? First, its naked, left-wing special interest pandering. The White House is championing a “Queer the Census” movement by pro-gay marriage groups, for example, and the Commerce Department is working with open-borders leaders who want to use the census as leverage to stop all immigration raids.

The electoral stakes are high. Some $400 billion in federal funding and, most importantly, the apportionment of congressional seats are up for grabs. Instead of straightforward enumeration of the American population, Obama and the left’s identity politics-mongers are turning the $1 billion, taxpayer-subsidized census public relations drive into a government preferences lobbying bonanza.

More galling: the White House manipulation of census worker employment to goose the jobless rate. Last week, the government touted employment figures bolstered by the hiring of temporary workers for Census 2010. The Census Bureau anticipates it may add nearly 750,000 workers to its payroll by May. Liberal economist Heidi Shierholz exulted in The Hill: “This is the best-timed census you could ever dream of.” And Team Obama plans to milk it for all it’s worth.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve received e-mails from census workers across the country describing the directive from their managers to slow down, stall, waste time and stretch out their work unnecessarily. As a counter-public service announcement, I’m reprinting some of their letters:

– “…I have been working with the census for two weeks, and every day I shake my head at the blatant inefficiency and deliberate misuse of taxpayer money. Specifically, we have been doing enumeration for those who do not have a home, the homeless in shelters, soup kitchens and in targeted non-sheltered outdoor locations, such as parks, subway stations, etc. I personally have been sent to check on shelters that were already determined to be day programs during the preceding round of quality control, yet they pay me the mileage and hourly wage to go back and make sure that they are still only day programs. I walked through parks and parking lots looking for homeless people to enumerate, not even by talking to them, but just by observing their race, sex and approximate age. …

“…The way the process has been set up by government bureaucracy is so backward and prevents a person who is industrious and efficient from being able to work freely… This is the first job where I am encouraged to be slow and inefficient.”

“Last summer I participated in the ‘address canvassing’ (AC) project. What this entailed was walking around a neighborhood, literally door to door, with a little handheld computer. My job was not to enter addresses so that these people could receive their form, but to make sure that the addresses that the first wave of people put into the system and appeared on the computer were actually there… Mostly, it was me getting paid $15.25/hour plus mileage to take my dog for a walk and push a few buttons.

“In an average suburban neighborhood where the houses are somewhat close to each other, it was no problem to do about 35 to 40 addresses per hour once you learned how to quickly enter data into the computer. The census said that I should be doing about 12 to 15 per hour. My direct bosses told me that I should NOT be doing 35 to 40, because it was making them and other people look bad. So instead of walking at a snail’s pace, I just did my 35 to 40/hour and doubled my time when I submitted my hours. Again, sorry for the tax dollar grab, but I was told not to be so darned efficient or else I’d be cut!”

– “I had the great pleasure of working for the address canvassing last spring. I was hired in early April for a job that was to be completed by the first week of July. I have a military background and a background in human resources, and the whole process left me with blood squirting from my eyes… I worked in the field for four days so that I would know what to do. The remainder of my time was spent sitting in a McDonald’s to have a daily progress meeting with each of the enumerators. I was paid from the time I left my house to the time I got home … plus mileage. I was told to pad the time or mileage to cover my McDonald’s food, since I was camping in a booth all day. For all that, I was paid $11.75 an hour. …We had a really good crew and were done by the second week of May… Philadelphia was going nuts because our region was getting done so fast, but there was nothing we could do to slow it down another two months.

“… I never saw such a mismanaged outfit in all my life. I just shook my head in total disbelief. Our work could have been done with half the people. We did have those that quit right after training, to the tune of $800 spent on nothing. I earned approximately $3,000. I will say, to be quite honest, it was the easiest money I ever made. On the exit interview, I was asked if I wanted to be called back for further work. I wrote ‘NO’ in big letters. I didn’t want to take any further part in what I saw to be a racket.”

What would Madison think now?

Volcker: VAT And Carbon Tax Are ComingApril 7th, 2010

From a cheering Reuters:

Volcker: Taxes likely to rise eventually to tame deficit

Tue Apr 6, 2010

NEW YORK (Reuters) – The United States should consider raising taxes to help bring deficits under control and may need to consider a European-style value-added tax, White House adviser Paul Volcker said on Tuesday.

Volcker, answering a question from the audience at a New York Historical Society event, said the value-added tax "was not as toxic an idea" as it has been in the past and also said a carbon or other energy-related tax may become necessary.

Though he acknowledged that both were still unpopular ideas, he said getting entitlement costs and the U.S. budget deficit under control may require such moves. "If at the end of the day we need to raise taxes, we should raise taxes," he said.

Of course the idea of actually cutting entitlements would never occur to anyone. No, instead we have just enacted the largest entitlement in our nation’s history.

Speaking of which, the New York historical Society was a good place for the administration to broach this idea.

Throughout history, it has been egregious taxes such as this that spark revolutions. Such as our own.

We could be in for ‘a new birth of freedom,’ after all.

The Media's Strange New Respect for the Tea Party

—Ace

We always loved you guys! I guess maybe you got the wrong idea or somethin' that we didn't like you.

There was a time, oh, a week or two ago, when the mainstream media portrayed the tea-party movement as an assortment of crazed angry extremist redneck racist idiots. What changed?

The headline we've given this column is a phrase coined by the conservative writer Tom Bethell to refer to the media's attitude toward conservatives who veer leftward. What we're about to describe is a bit different: more an epiphany on the media's part than a change in the object of coverage. It seems unlikely that the tea-partiers have suddenly become mainstream.

Yet that's what you'd think from reading some of the recent coverage. The Christian Science Monitor, which a month ago baselessly labeled Pentagon shooter John Patrick Bedell a "right-wing extremist," begins a Saturday story by rehearsing the stereotypes but then cautions that "political experts say that many such criticisms are near-sighted, if not outright inappropriate--and ultimately may miss the point[."]

Let's take a look at that Christian Science Monitor article. Before reading it, I assumed that the Monitor would use the passive voice in reporting the slurs against the Tea Party -- saying the Tea Party "have been called" racist, instead of identifying who called them that. As in, "Democrats frequently call the Tea Party racist" or "the media, including this very newspaper, frequently call them racist."

I was right.

Their faces sometimes twisted in anger, 'tea party' followers have been called neo-Klansmen and knuckle-dragging hillbillies.

Note right from the jump the choice of the word "followers" -- one who follows -- over the more generally accepted word "activist" -- one who acts. It's all the stranger a word choice given that there is no person called "Tea Party" to actually follow. One can say "Barack Obama's followers" or "Sarah Palin's followers" -- at least there there is an actual person to follow -- but how on earth does one "follow" oneself?

The word "followers" echoes the Washington Post's notorious description of the religious right -- "largely poor, uneducated, and easy to command."

(Also note that while the media could say "followers of Barack Obama," in fact, they wouldn't -- they'd call them "supporters" or "activists." "Followers" they would reserve for Sarah Palin's supporters. Easy to command, you know. Without independent thought.)

Even as the CSM pretends to play nice-nice they use the least complimentary word choices possible.

Back to the article:

To be sure, angry town halls, the N-word thrown at black congressmen, and signs comparing President Obama to Adolf Hitler play into the hands of the movement's critics. And demonizing tea party activists tends to energize the Democrats' left-of-center base.

There continues to be a $10,000 bounty for anyone producing evidence of these slurs. The CSM assumes them, because the source is impeccable -- a black liberal. Might as well be the Pope of Knowing Stuff.

But political experts say that many such criticisms are near-sighted, if not outright inappropriate – and ultimately may miss the point. Indeed, polls suggest that tea party activists are not only more mainstream than many critics suggest, but that a majority of them are women (primarily mothers), not angry white men.

Here they slip in the "angry white men" stereotype without acknowledging who it was who so stereotyped them. It just seems to have happened without author or agency.

What's more, the release this week of the top three planks of the "crowd-sourced" Contract From America project, to some activists, shows a maturation from sign-wielding protesters to a political reform movement grounded in ideas.

It doesn't really show a maturation of the Tea Party. It shows a maturation of the media's nasty, sneering juvenile reportage of the Tea Party. The Tea Party has always been idea-oriented. But the CSM missed that because they were too busy calling them racists.

...

Still, many critics look at a tea party crowd and just see a "fantasy-based" movement of "angry white people," as Monitor Facebook commentator Bill Downey points out.

Again, no acknowledgement that these "many critics" are exclusively Democratic politicians and flacks and the liberal whore media.

CNN also takes a stab at curing these "stereotypes" which apparently self-organized out of aether and dreamstuff without any human intervention whatsoever:

But here’s what you don’t often see in the coverage of Tea Party rallies: Patriotic signs professing a love for country; mothers and fathers with their children; African-Americans proudly participating; and senior citizens bopping to a hip-hop rapper.

Last week, I saw all of this during a five-city Western swing as the Tea Party Express national tour made its way across the country. CNN was along for the ride, and I was charged with planning CNN’s coverage for five stops in two states: St. George, Provo and Salt Lake City, Utah; and Grand Junction and Denver, Colorado. …

Together, we beamed out images of the anger and the optimism, profiled African-Americans who are proud to be in the Tea Party’s minority and showed activists stirred by “God Bless America” or amused by a young rapper who strung together rhymes against the president and Democrats. …

Being at a Tea Party rally is not quite like seeing it on TV, in newspapers or online. That’s the reason CNN is covering this political movement — and doing so in ways few others can or choose to do.

It is important to show the colorful anger Americans might have against elected leaders and Washington. But people should also see the orange-vested Tea Party hospitality handlers who welcome you with colorful smiles.

"Being at a Tea Party rally is not quite like seeing it on TV, in newspapers or online." -- Um, why is that, exactly? Isn't the goal of reportage to accurately portray the subject? Why is that TV and newspaper coverage has been deficient and skewed?

This guy pretends it was just a procedural glitch -- see, we didn't embed with them before, and now we are; just a mistake of process, you see. We're only guilty of an error of resource allocation!

Nonsense. It was deliberate and calculated decision, made at the highest editorial levels, with the singleminded goal of destroying the movement at the outset in order to increase the political fortunes of Barack Hussein Obama and the Socialist Demcoratic Party.

Taranto sums up:

Reader Taylor Dinerman notes: "Part of the function of a political media operation is to make the other side despair, lose hope, feel bad, etc. It's one of the reasons I gave up reading the New York Times. In one of Isaac Asimov's Empire series, he describes a drug called 'desperance' whose function is to make whoever takes it despair and be ready to kill or commit suicide. The bad guys feed it to someone they intend to use to murder the galactic emperor."

Tales of tea-party racism could have been calculated to demoralize America's anti-ObamaCare majority by presenting them with an ugly choice: accept the fate the Democrats have imposed upon us, or side with (as the Christian Science Monitor puts it) "neo-Klansmen and knuckle-dragging hillbillies." The strange new respect for the tea-party movement suggests that this approach is too invidiously partisan even for the mainstream media.

Taranto's wrong -- that approach is not too invidiously partisan for even the mainstream media (a term, by the way, I don't use anymore, as they're not mainstream at all, as Bernard Goldberg noted, but radical and leftist). The media was more than willing to throw every stereotype and slur at the Tea Party, including graphic sexual ones.

They are walking it back not because they've suddenly developed ethics but because it wasn't working and in fact was costing them audience and influence. Much has been made of a recent poll finding that something like 71% of Tea Partiers get their news from FoxNews, as if that proves some kind of fringe agenda. No -- it proves what is already known (that they lean conservative) and furthermore it proves that people don't like having sexual slurs meaning "ball-sucking" tossed at them by their media sources.

Does that occur to anyone? Maybe they watch FoxNews partly because it's the only news outlet that's not going to unprofessionally accuse them of indulging in deviant sexual habits for shits and giggles.

I think far more likely than Taranto's What Color Are the Skies On Your World thesis of a media suddenly concerned with objectivity is a a simple recognition that the old tactics weren't working.

The media has treated the Tea Party as if the media were a hostile, alien occupying force engaging in psychological operations against an indigenous peasant rebellion. (Which actually isn't far from the actual situation, is it?)

What's the first line of attack? Attempt to contain the "disease" -- the viral outbreak of Tea Party rebellion -- by innocculating the population against it. Feed them every slur about the rebels -- call the queers, deviants, racists, ugly, uneducated, dangerous -- in an effort to make the movement unappealing to the majority. Limit their numbers by painting them with such ugly colors that recruitment becomes difficult for them.

Containment didn't work. So they turn to the next step in the counterinsurgency playbook -- cooptation. Unable to limit the numbers in the resistance, their new strategy is to pretend they were with them all along, and attempt to manipulate the movement to their own ends. If you can't stop a movement, pretend to be an ally of it in order to pervert its goals.

The next step? The media will denigrate the movement less and instead play to its populist discontent -- but will start offering up bogeymen favored by the left wing for the Tea Party to focus its anger on.

Expect the media to start talking up the broad-based anger of the movement, while emphasizing the leftist-bait they hope can turn the Party into a less coherent movement -- hey, look at those damn bankers! If only they hadn't been so greedy, we might never be in this situation. And GM? Its smug, fatcat management sort of forced poor populist Obama to take over a couple of car companies, didn't it?

That is my belief -- and yeah, I really do think it's a genuine conspiracy at this point. I do think the media coordinates these stories, coordinates its angles, coordinates its spin. Some of them engage in this conspiracy halfway oblivious -- they are so stupid and without critical thought it doesn't even occur to them there's another legitimate viewpoint counter to their own -- but most know exactly what they are doing. They are not reporters, they are informational bagmen for the corrupt Democratic Party.

They are nothing short of the disinformation and propaganda organ of a corrupt, hostile, anti-american force. Just as terrorist groups invent "legal" fronts to be their legitimate spokesman -- Yasser Arafat invents the PLO to be the propaganda arm of Black September -- the media is nothing more than the supposedly-independent propaganda arm of Obama's Organizing for America.

But I think the media is going to find out that the right they so despise is not quite so "uneducated and easy to command" as they might think.

The strange new love is a result of it no longer being possible to hide the amount of Democrats and Independants in the Tea Party. That was the big reason for the discredit. if every day shlubs knew, they would join too

CNN and media saw the writing on the wall long ago and did everything they could to spin it to keep momentum from building. Epic fail on their part. They know the can no longer hide it from the public. They are now trying to spin a narrative for the huge Dem losss that is coming. The MSM can blow it out their ass. No one watched and read them before, they won't now. I can't wait for them to shutter their doors

108 That is my belief -- and yeah, I really do think it's a genuine conspiracy at this point. I do think the media coordinates these stories, coordinates its angles, coordinates its spin. It's been going on for years and we all know it. That explains almost exclusively why legacy media has lost and continues to lose audience, money, and influence. It took a foreign capitalist, Murdoch, to break the mold and really accelerate the demise of the LSM. The domestic stranglehold of information by liberals and the academia that fed it was so tight that no one could, or even dared, challenge the paradigm and feed the conservative audience. It just wasn't done.

And now we see the doubling down by the LSM to protect their chosen one. It's just not a secret anymore and the cries of "racism" have become so abused as to be the equivalent of "the boy who cried wolf." It was all a lie that no one believes. The Tea Party-ers did not back down because they recognize a) the stakes and b) the truth.

The LSM can FOAD. It cannot - CANNOT - earn back our trust. Oh, sure, conceptually it could, but it would take years of honest reporting to establish credibility. That institution does not have it in them. It is not in its DNA, so that beast must die. Or be killed. Hopefully from orbit with nukes, just to be sure.

The Rape of America

Rape of America [Darleen Click]

Over 1600 comments and still counting, my political cartoon, Rape of Liberty, continues to stir emotions.

via Danger, here is another woman (a self-described recovering liberal) using the rape metaphor to describe current events.

The word “rape” has an intriguing history. It originally denoted the violent seizure of property. I’m going to use the term in both the historic and modern sense to convey what is happening today.

This country is being raped. [...]

We also have the economic rapes, the constant shrieks of, “Gimme, gimme.” Give me what you have because I want it. Whether it’s the iPod torn from your ear, or a big chunk of your income, or your standard of living, no matter. I want it, I demand it, give it to me.

Or the intrusions into our very bodies by ObamaCare’s Biggest of Big Brothers. Our medical records, our personal information, our physician/patient relationship, our DNA — they want it, they will take it from us.

And now that the Left has finally appropriated our health care and our student loans, our banks and newspapers and automobile companies, are they happy? Satisfied? Grateful, for God’s sake?

No, the mocking continues, the outright threats and the violence escalate. Suddenly conservatives are not simply opponents exercising First Amendment rights. We’re delusional, crazy, violent, not quite human.

Robin forgot “RAAAAACIST!”. She’s certainly right about the “delusional and crazy.” Among the wonderful little emails I have received, if I’m not outright insensative to rape victims (funny, isn’t it, how Leftists can claim they speak for all rape victims), I’m actually in favor of rape and/or supportive of “rape culture.”

Oh, and that I should be under psychological care.

Heh.

The piece goes on to cite how Obama plans a year long education campaign to combat all the confusion.

Hmm... so... we'll have this government mandated healthcare and we'll need to attend the equivalent of an education camp to understand how it's going to help us.

Palin and Bachmann Speak Out For Conservative Values–

Sarah Palin and Rep Michele Bachmann held a massive rally in the Minnesota Convention Center today. Both Bachmann and Palin blasted Obama over his latest fantasy national security decision. New Evidence Proves Obama Was Not Honest About Membership In the Chicago Socialist Party
Wednesday, April 7, 2010, 7:45 PM
Jim Hoft

In 2008 before the election bloggers New Zeal and The Big Feed discovered this photo of Barack Obama and other New Party socialists including Danny K Davis (center), on the front page of New Party News, Spring 1996:

From the photo:
Winners! NP-endorsed candidates Patricia Martin (far left), Danny Davis (center), and Barack Obama (far right), celebrate with Chicago New Party members Ted Thomas and Ruth Schools after their victories in the Democratic Primary last month.

Because of this report the Obama camp posted this on their “Fight the Smears” website;

Right-wing hatchet man and conspiracy theorist, Stanley Kurtz is pushing a new crackpot smear against Barack falsely claiming he was a member of something called the New Party.

But the truth is Barack has been a member of only one political party, the Democratic Party. In all six primary campaigns of his career, Barack has has run as a Democrat. The New Party did support Barack once in 1996, but he was the only candidate on the ballot in his race and never solicited the endorsement.

This week New Zeal blog has uncovered evidence that Barack Obama was not honest about his involvement with the New Party Socialists.

I now present evidence that Obama was involved as early as 1993, with a New Party “sister” organization – Progressive Chicago.

…It was the election of the leftist Harold Washington in 1983 that inspired Barack Obama to move to Chicago two years later.

The Harold Washington coalition, was led by an alliance of Chicago communists, socialists and “community activists”, just like both of its direct descendants, the New Party and Progressive Chicago…

People targeted or solicited to join Progressive Chicago included Obama political mentor and Communist Party affiliate Alice Palmer, Communist Party member Frank Lumpkin, Rev. Jim Reed of Christians for Socialism and Democratic Socialists of America associates Miguelle Del Valle, Carole Travis, Clem Balanoff, Sue Purrington and Jane Ramsey.

By September 1993 Obama was one of 17 people listed as a signatory on all Progressive Chicago letters – as shown by the second page of this September 22 Progressive Chicago letter to Joe Gardner.

…It appears beyond a doubt that Barack Obama was involved, more than two years before his Illinois State Senate run, with a New Party founded, “sister organization” – Progressive Chicago.

It is clear that ACORN and SEIU played a big role in Progressive Chicago, as did Marxist activists from Democratic Socialists of America and Committees of Correspondence.

In 2008, the US media went into a frenzy when it was alleged that Sarah Palin’s husband had been involved in the Alaska Independence Party.

The same media apparently believed the Obama camp’s assurances that their candidate had never been meaningfully involved in the New Party – and even if he was, it wasn’t really socialist anyway.

Do you suppose the democratic-media complex will ever report on this?

There is more at New Zeal blog.

Nearly Half of US Households Pay No Federal Tax
Wednesday, April 7, 2010, 5:54 PM
Jim Hoft

47% of US households will pay no federal taxes this year.
The AP reported:

Tax Day is a dreaded deadline for millions, but for nearly half of U.S. households it’s simply somebody else’s problem.

About 47 percent will pay no federal income taxes at all for 2009. Either their incomes were too low, or they qualified for enough credits, deductions and exemptions to eliminate their liability. That’s according to projections by the Tax Policy Center, a Washington research organization.

Most people still are required to file returns by the April 15 deadline. The penalty for skipping it is limited to the amount of taxes owed, but it’s still almost always better to file: That’s the only way to get a refund of all the income taxes withheld by employers.

In recent years, credits for low- and middle-income families have grown so much that a family of four making as much as $50,000 will owe no federal income tax for 2009, as long as there are two children younger than 17, according to a separate analysis by the consulting firm Deloitte Tax.

Tax cuts enacted in the past decade have been generous to wealthy taxpayers, too, making them a target for President Barack Obama and Democrats in Congress. Less noticed were tax cuts for low- and middle-income families, which were expanded when Obama signed the massive economic recovery package last year.

"Wait until next year when the Bush Tax Cuts disappear and Obamacare taxes kick in. And the death tax will be back just in time to finish off the economy.

IOpian, my spouse is self-employed and we, like you, pay the full load of FICA and medicare. Since it’s all going in a rathole, it is very depressing."

The Parasites Manifest:

Insurance agents getting phone calls asking, “Where do we get the free ObamaCare ?”

It reminds the story of Peggy Joseph.

'I Want My Free M.D.'

Dependency: The Democrats' reform bill had hardly become law before doctors and insurers began getting calls asking about free health care. The growing sense of entitlement is disheartening, to say the least.

'Where do we get the free ObamaCare, and how do I sign up for that?" That's what Carrie McLean, an agent for eHealthInsurance.com, told McClatchy newspapers she's been hearing from callers.

She said that the company's phone center has been "inundated by uninsured consumers who were hoping that the overhaul would translate into instant, affordable coverage."

The McClatchy reporter also talked to Sandra Preston, a state employee in Paterson, N.J., who seemed to be waiting impatiently for the federal takeover to fully kick in. "Why does it take so long for certain health care things to take effect?" she asked.

A day before the McClatchy story ran, the Financial Times reported that the "demand for free medicines in the U.S. has increased sharply following the 2008 economic crisis."

Rich Sagall, creator of NeedyMeds.org, a clearinghouse that helps patients find free medication, told the Times that he is "receiving 14,000 inquiries a day, up from 10,000 in late 2008."

This is happening at a time when "pharmaceutical companies say they have expanded donations through 'patient assistance programs' by typically 15% to 25%."

The United States was once a nation of proudly independent people. But now Americans in large numbers think they deserve free access to the Web, no-cost college educations, and jobs they don't deserve and can't be fired from. They believe others should be responsible for their mortgages and feel they have a right to early, cushy retirements at someone else's expense.

(New) Fox News Poll: Health Care and the Midterm Elections (the Wee Wee is getting hammered alert)

Tax shock is just start for Obamacare

There was a thread earlier in the week speaking of whether the nation should geographically divide along political/ideological lines, and I wonder if this is not the answer.

At this point I do not support division but I found it fascinating how analyzing Facebook links shows how it could be done. I wonder if that is why a full court legal press has ensured that all the underlying data has been destroyed.

After Health Care, Amnesty? Democrats want to reform immigration with the same good sense...

All America's Problems Officially Resolved; Obama's to Appear on American Idol

—Jack M.

Please, please, please tell me there will be an 800 number I can call to vote them off the national stage.

Insiders tell me that during the interview, Idol host Ryan Seacrest asked President Obama to name his favorite member of the Rolling Stones. The President responded thusly:

OBAMA: You know, uh, I thought that, uh, you know, the truth is that a lot of the Beatles I liked, too, uh, but I did not become a Rolling Stones fan until I moved to Chicago. Because I, uh, you know, I was growing up, uh, in Hawaii, and so I ended up actually being a Beach Boys fan. But when I moved to Chicago, uh, I was living close to what was then the House of Bluesiness (sic).

Seacrest: Right.

OBAMA: And went to a couple concerts and just fell in love. And the nice thing about the Rolling Stones it's real blue-collar music.

My sources tell me this clip is unlikely to be aired.

Y'all will have to let me know, though. The thought of seeing Michelle's angry eyebrows in high definition is just more than I can take.

Plus, I don't even know which channel American Idol is on. I'll bet Gabe does, though. I should ask.

It’s  the Economy Stupid…

The number of initial jobless claims rose “unexpectedly” again this week.
The AP reported, via Drudge:

The number of newly laid-off workers seeking unemployment benefits rose last week, a sign that jobs remain scarce even as the economy recovers.

The Labor Department said Thursday that first-time claims increased by 18,000 in the week ending April 3, to a seasonally adjusted 460,000. That’s worse than economists’ estimates of a drop to 435,000, according to a survey by Thomson Reuters.

The report covers the week that includes the Easter holiday, and a Labor Department analyst said seasonal adjustment for Easter can be difficult since the holiday occurs in different weeks each year.

BREAKING: Obama Administration Denies Visas to Israeli Nuclear Scientists. “This could be yet another flashpoint in the increasingly sensitive relations between the administration, the American Jewish community, and Israel.” Face it, Israelis — he just doesn’t like you that much.

Here’s something we want your feedback on,  because we’ve been talking it over amongst ourselves for months and have never been able to make any sense of it.  So, there’s a piece in our logic that we’re missing and we need you to help us fill it in.

This White House is determined to bow before Islam — literally, in the case of the current president scraping, bending, and kissing the ring of Falafel the Hutt, the king of Saudi Arabia.  This week the administration announced it would no longer use the term “Islamic extremism” because that’s discriminatory against the 5 good Muslims that are out there, somewhere, stone-silent in the face of the mass murders Islam commits in the name of Allah.  Dr. Utopia, our current president, appears to be doing everything he can to allow Iran to acquire a nuclear bomb so that the Islamic world gains its first superpower — all under the umbrella of power and wealth redistribution this man has espoused since he was a red-diaper baby being raised by radical Marxists in Hawaii and Indonesia.

From Day One, this president claimed his duty was to “defend Islam”, which is not part of his presidential oath to this country as we understand it.

His administration refused to properly address the terrorist attack by a Muslim on Ft. Hood as the act of war it truly was.  This White House thought “the system worked” when the only thing stopping a Muslim from blowing a plane out of the air over Detroit was a hunky Dutch passenger going John McClane on his sorry terrorist ass.

Our national security policy towards Islam should not be “hope for the best” and “trust there will be hunky Dutch civilians on board commercial flights to save the day”.

We don’t believe this president loves America, because “American” was not his cultural identity growing up.  He did not attend baseball games and eat apple pie.  He did not doll his bike up in red, white, and blue to ride in Fourth of July parades.  He did not put on a top hat and a scraggly beard and play Abraham Lincoln in a school play — no matter how much his image makers wanted to cast him as Lincoln redux in 2008.

Whoever this guy is — whatever he is — he’s not culturally “American”.  He’s Indonesian, Hawaiian, Leftist, or “nothing”.  A man without a home, a ship without a port, a loose cannon possessed of an ideology that’s dangerous to us all.

All that said, he’s an egomaniac more than anything else.  This president, unlike any before him, believes he was truly sent here by whatever God he acknowledges — just a rung, or half a rung, more awesome than he thinks he is himself — to destroy everything he doesn’t like about America, starting with this country’s resistance to dhimmihood and the global caliphate.  He’s not a fool, and proved that by making all the right connections and doing the networking in Chicago to put him in the Oval Office where he is today.  It’s more remarkable than Lex Luthor becoming president in the Superman comics a decade ago — a man raised by radicals, who surrounded himself with a motley crew of villains his entire life, is President of the United States, and has set this nation on a course towards SOMETHING he’s sure of, but the rest of us are trying to figure out every day.

What’s his real end game and what does he really believe he’ll achieve?

This is where we have problems figuring this man out.

Considering all of the above, it’s clear Obama will side with Islam over the United States’ best interests on just about everything — from allowing Iran to become the first Muslim superpower to relaxing all Bush era security measures against Muslims that have kept air travel safe for all these years.

It’s also clear Obama wants a second term, and his ego will not allow him to fail in achieving that.

It’s obvious Obama has massive ambition in everything he wants to do to this country, most of it probably overheard as a child, listening to his mother and her radical friends talk about everything they wanted to see America succumb to in the future, or learned from Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, and the other lunatics Obama hung close to in Chicago while he lived here and prepared for his rise.

So much destruction cannot be achieved in just one term.

But, here’s where reality sets in — and where we just can’t understand what the White House is up to.

Everything Obama is doing towards Islam is just emboldening Muslims to attack us.  We believe the airline attacks and the bomb explosion in the Moscow subways, all committed by the Religion of Peace, are just distractions from something much, much larger in the works.  Something “spectacular”, to use the word Muslims give large scale attacks like this.

The American public sees, clearly, that Obama is doing to Islam what Neville Chamberlain did to Hitler in the 1930s:  appeasement.  Many don’t know who Chamberlain was– thank you, public school system — and don’t realize he was prime minister of Great Britain who emboldened the Third Reich with his dithering and weakness, but there have been enough times when Obama on television has praised Islam, scolded Americans for holding Muslims accountable for their actions, and called on the nation to submit to Islam as our equal, if not better, on a global level.

When Muslims next attack — and they will, soon — we just don’t see how this White House is not enveloped in a hue and cry of revolutionary proportions.  There will be a backlash against this president unlike anything ever before seen in American history.  If you thought the public turned on Richard Nixon when Watergate was exposed, what’s going to happen to the current president when his appeasement of Muslims produces only another catastrophic attack on this country — especially when it’s shown that his lax policies towards security are to blame for so many Americans being killed.

This is the part we just don’t understand.

Why is he setting himself up for such a blowback?

Does he truly believe all of the appeasing things he’s doing, all of the bows and scrapes, all of the dhimmi acts, are going to change Islam and make it our friend?  Does he truly believe Muslims are misunderstood Care Bears in need of hugs, and not an apocalyptic cult of women, gay, Jew, and democracy-haters who dream every night of our destruction?

Once the next large-scale attack hits the US, this appeasement garbage will be out the window.

The public will not stand for it.

What support this man still clings to in the polls will evaporate overnight.  Or, does he believe he’ll rocket in popularity like Bush did after 9/11? That’s absurd, because President George W. Bush was the right man, at the right time, in history on that terrible day.  We needed a tough as nails, 100% American, red, white, and blue hero and we got one.  Say what you will about the man in other areas, and he surely admits he’s not perfect in any way, and that he had his failings, but the country rallied around Bush that awful day not because it would have rallied around ANYONE, but because it needed to rally around someone APPROPRIATE.

Obama has repeatedly proved himself inappropriate in this area.  The Muslim appeasement and global apology tour, in our opinion, preclude a “rally ’round the president” moment from happening for him.  The MSM will do its level best to stoke one.  Anderson Cooper, Chris Matthews, and Keith Olbermann will work tirelessly night and day making excuses for how this was not his fault.  But the public will know.  They’ll remember all the many speeches about Obama’s duty to defend Islam, and his belief that Muslims are unfairly regarded as murdering terrorists in a world in which Muslims commit mass murder and terrorism.

It’s going to have Watergate potential, times a hundred, in terms of what it does to this administration.

We don’t believe there’ll be a second term as it is now, but we guarantee a major terrorist attack on US soil under this president will solidify him as a one-term failure, for sure.

So, why is he doing all of this?

Is he naive?

Does he really believe the appeasement will pay some sort of dividend?

Does he not have any idea at all what he is doing?

What’s behind all of this, and what do you think will happen, Heaven forbid, should Muslims kill hundreds or thousands of Americans while on Obama’s watch?

Please take a moment and really think about this, because someone out there must have some insight that hasn’t occurred to us yet that could possibly make some sense out of the madness of this administration.

Boyz, it’s good to see you guys are finally and quite seriously tackling this subject. The greatest threat to women, gays, children, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Sikhs and Hindus today, is Islam. Say what you will in defense of the “Religion of Peace” but I don’t see any one not a Muslim strapping a bomb on or flying a plane into a building.

The lines are clearly being drawn in the West. The UK, Belgium, France, Switzerland and The Netherlands are all feeling the heat from the invasion of Shariah Law and people are fighting back. (Israel has always known what this is about and has done admirably well.) The numbers brutalized and killed by Islam each year is staggering and mind numbing and no one will discuss it publicly in the mass media for fear of offending the Muslims, C.A.I.R. or the PC police.

In reference to your question, I’ve no clue. I’ve thought long and hard on the subject. However, the answer is in his book. “When the political winds blow in an ugly direction I will stand with the Muslim.” Prophetic?

This is a Chavez-like takeover, and if people don’t see that, then they are blind. Barry will destroy our economy(like Chavez did to his country) until he can have complete control of the people.

My husband is in the middle east right now, and if you knew how much our own banks are in bed with the Arabs right now you wouldn’t sleep at night. AIG in particular is selling our properties to the Saudis in MASSIVE numbers. Notice how AIG was saved by the White House?

Muslims learn something very early, and it’s called taquiyya(Sorry, wrong spelling).
This is used to pursue conquest against enemies.
No one wants to talk about Obama’s upbringing and his associates throughout his life, but all of them were muslims or Marxists who believe that America is evil and must be taken down. Barry learned to lie(taquiyya) at a very young age.

What better man for Soros to push into the Presidency than a soulless narcissist who believes that America is the problem, not the solution? Hillary never had a chance. This has all been planned by very wealthy and powerful people.

I’ve never been a conspiracy person, and I’m still not. I’ve just learned so much about what’s REALLY going on in the Middle East from my husband, who deals with these people every day, has had his men killed and kidnapped, and knows exactly how the Muslims are spreading their fingers into every Nation around the globe.

And Barry is on board with it all.

If you want to learn what the Religion of Piss(as I call it) is all about, read this.

Boys, I agree with your analysis and I think the answer is very simple.
Obama doesn’t particular care for a second term because his plans is to make enough irreversible changes to America that the country will never be the same again.
Health Care is the first salvo. Amnesty is next…and this will guarantee 12-15M Dems votes for many years to come. De-nuclearization is the next thing…so the US will no longer be a superpower. Give unions and the SEIU enough power to control the levers of the economy is next, etc…

Climate Change As Malthusian Panic Attack.

UNHEALTHY: Nearly half of US households escape fed income tax. Everyone should pay at least some income tax. And everyone’s tax bill should go up or down whenever federal spending does. Alternatively, we should abolish the income tax and replace it with a sales tax that varies in the same fashion.

In the "yes, she really is that stupid," and "but the damn idiots keep electing her" Dept:

NANCY PELOSI: Don’t worry your pretty little heads about Health Care Reform. “It’s like the back of the refrigerator. You see all these wires and the rest. All you need to know is, you open the door. The light goes on.”

Good grief.

UPDATE: Bryan Preston suggests a different analogy:

Sticking with the refrigerator analogy, here’s something that I think gets us a lot closer to reality than anything Pelosi is likely to say. You’re lured to buy a refrigerator, only to find out that once you add up all the hidden costs the price is probably 30 times what was advertised, and the thing ends up taking over your entire house and bankrupting you and your whole neighborhood. You call somebody to come fix it, and the IRS shows up.

Heh.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Reader Ted Gavrilescu emails: “Pelosi’s quote instantly reminded me of the (in)famous fridge incident concerning Rep. Wiliam Jefferson (D). With this in mind, her analogy hits the mark: open the fridge door and you find a whole lot of dirty bribe money.”

Illinois: Kirk Leads Mobbed-Up Mob-Banker Giannoulis; Brady Leads Incumbent Gov. Quinn

—Ace

Obamaland's experiencing some change.

First of all, Kirk's bringing in some nice money through fundraising.

Republican U.S. Senate nominee Mark Kirk raised $2.2 million since the start of the year, his campaign announced Wednesday.

The figure is the first fundraising total released since the five-term North Shore congressman won the nomination Feb. 2. Kirk faces Democratic state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias for the Senate seat once held by President Barack Obama. It's currently occupied by appointed Democratic Sen. Roland Burris, who is not seeking election.

With the infusion of cash, Kirk's campaign said it has more than $3 million left ahead of the November election.

Giannoulis declined to release his own figures, which may indicate either he's not doing too well or he's getting a lot of money from his mobbed-up mob-bank. Or both.

Giannoulis' bank, however, may be going under soon:

Asked if the problems at the Giannoulias family-owned Broadway Bank would affect the candidate's voter support in the Senate contest, Madigan replied, "I'm glad I don't have any deposits there."

Federal regulators have said the bank must be recapitalized or it could face a takeover this month. Giannoulias had touted his banking expertise in running for treasurer in 2006.

That's a Democrat making fun of Giannoulis' nearly-bankrupt mob-bank, note.

Vote for me -- I managed to bankrupt a bank, so I know all the pitfalls our nation's finances face.

And Kirk is ahead:

Kirk has 37 percent support overall while Giannoulias has 33 percent, Public Policy Polling has found. The Republican has gained little in terms of favorable voter opinion since the pollster found him with 27 percent of voters viewing him positively in January; he is still unknown to 53 percent of voters, and 24 percent continue to not have enough information to form an opinion of him.

The congressman, however, is reaping the benefits of a drop in popularity for Giannoulias, who lost 10 points in terms of favorability since the last survey. The Democrat, facing controversy over bad loans approved by his family's bank, now has only 21 percent of voters thinking of him in a positive light, and 28 percent, up from 19 percent, viewing him negatively.

Kirk, a five-term representative, has more support from his party than does Giannoulias. He enjoys 77 percent support among Republicans, while his rival has 54 percent support from Democrats. Moreover, 36 percent of Democratic voters are undecided about whether to support Giannoulias.

...

Giannoulias, 34, is facing questions about his role in $20 million his family's bank is said to have lent to criminals.

There's a good chance the Democratic Party will attempt another last-minute substitution. Primaries are, in the Democratic Party, only the first draft of candidacy.

In the gubernatorial race, Republican Brady leads incumbent Democrat Quinn.

n a new poll from Dem-leaning Public Policy Polling, Brady's leading Quinn 43-33 and garnering 80% of the GOP vote. Quinn, meanwhile, has just 53% of the Democratic vote.

33 percent! And he's an incumbent!

This is good news.

Getting what you paid for

Dr Boyce Watkins, founder of the Your Black World Coalition and the initiator of the National Conversation on Race, writing for MSNBC:

Obama’s race problem just got a little deeper. As the rest of the country is starting to see light at the end of the economic tunnel, the African American community just walked into a deeper, darker crawl space than the one it was in before. The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently released unemployment data for the month of March, finding that unemployment for whites remained steady, while the jobs numbers for African Americans tanked, going from 15.8 percent unemployment to an astonishing 16.5 percent.

The labor reports don’t look good for President Obama, who has been met with considerable pressure from members of the black community to improve the jobs situation for people of color. There are some who argue, with good reason, that the president is simply not working as hard for black folks as he is for everyone else. it can also be said that Obama’s massive effort to fight the job shortage throughout the United States seems to have been working to a certain degree. The month of March was good for most Americans, who were spared further increases in the rate of unemployment. The bad news for the president and his economic advisors is that the rising tide is not raising all ships.

Here’s the breakdown of what President Obama may or may not be looking at this morning (depending on whether or not his advisors even ask him to consider the data): African-Americans continue to have an unemployment rate that is 88 percent higher than that of whites (8.8 percent vs. 16.5 percent). Black women have a rate that is 70 percent greater than white women (7.3 percent vs. 12.4 percent) and black men endure an unemployment rate that is 113 percent higher than that of white men (8.6 percent vs. 19 percent). I ask this question of the president: If white Americans have the right to be angry and complain about 8.8 percent unemployment, then does that mean African-Americans have a right to be twice as angry?

[...]

Here is what the president needs to do and this needs to happen right now: There must be a clear targeted program aimed squarely in the face of urban America that is designed to create jobs for people in the inner city. The program should aim at cities with the highest rates of unemployment. There should also be programs to support and sustain small business in these communities, as well as the smallest businesses throughout the United States. These businesses need access to critical capital necessary to create job opportunities for residents of these communities.

[...]

I stand by my original assertion that President Obama should reconsider his decision to take advice from Tim Geithner and Lawrence Summers, two men who do little to impress me as financial experts with the necessary background to understand the plight of urban communities. As a Finance Professor myself, I can tell you that if you don’t care about solving a problem, you are not going to be able to solve it. Obama needs a task force on urban unemployment with the power to make meaningful recommendations, and within the context of this task force, he must pursue effective change. If black unemployment is 88 percent higher than that of whites, then one can easily argue that government officials should put forth 88 percent more in per capita resources to deal with our unique economic hurdles. Racial equality in America is not achieved by having a black president; it is achieved by having a vested interest in achieving equality for all black Americans. Anything short of this is entirely unacceptable.

Translation: you may be black, Mr. President, but we aren’t getting our 97% voter support’s worth.

Precious. I especially like the bit about how the leveling of unemployment rates among whites at near 9% is to be considered “light at the end of the economic tunnel.”

But tell me: does criticizing a post-racial President for not being sufficiently concerned with the plight of a particular race make the President racist, or the complainants racist?

I can never keep that straight.

NPR archive describes Obama as 'Kenyan-born'

Those crazy "birthers" are citing National Public Radio.

Really? NPR?

Archives for the tax-supported organization reveal that a 2008 report described then-Sen. Barack Obama as "Kenyan-born" and a "son of Africa."

NPR's promotion for the story included a brief description of West African correspondent Ofeibea Quist-Arcton, who "describes the stories that have been exciting, including the U.S. presidential race of Kenyan-born Sen. Barack Obama."

After discussing various issues developing in Africa at the time – such as Kenya's violent elections, the attacks in Zimbabwe and the presidency of South Africa – the conversation on the program "Tell Me More" turned to Obama.

OK. I’m going out on a limb here by writing this. Either I will freak you out or you will think I’m a little crazy. I was once involved with a Muslim (from another country) and basically he told me there would be a president that would destroy America. They were living here waiting for that time….There were lots of other details, but based on those details, I am terrified of Obama. This was in 1997 and I was so naive. I didn’t believe him THEN.

Ever since this Golden Age of Hope and Change began — which, to us, feels like reliving 9/11 every day, endlessly feeling that nauseating pain in our stomach watching America attacked by those who wish her the most harm — we’ve heard repeatedly that Obama is going to change this country forever, turn us into a socialist state, destroy our economy, emasculate our military, and install the Left’s wildest, Marxist dreams upon a center-right, capitalist, America-loving country.

US Officials: Qatari Envoy Hoped to Meet With Jailed Terrorist

U.S. officials say a Qatari diplomat whose remark caused a bomb scare on a commercial flight over the United States was on his way to visit an imprisoned al-Qaida terrorist.

The officials say the diplomat, Mohammed Al-Madadi, was going to a prison in the western state of Colorado to visit Ali Al-Marri, a Qatari citizen serving an eight-year jail term for conspiring to support terrorism.

Madadi has been released from U.S. custody and will not face charges after being restrained Wednesday by U.S. air marshals on a flight from Washington to Denver, Colorado. Officials said he is expected to leave quickly for Qatar, which has been a key U. S. ally and hosts a large U. S. military base.

Rasmussen: 55% Oppose Limits On U.S. Nuclear Response To Attacks, Only 25% Support

US-Russia nuclear pact could face US Senate fight

A good argument can be made that MAD was so effective, that a variation of it should be extended to all the small nuclear powers.

The basic problem is that they see nuclear weapons as only just “a big bomb”, and a way they can smite their hated enemy nation for a cheap and easy victory. So the purpose of Extended MAD or EMAD, should be to turn this into something utterly intolerable to any aggressor nation.

This protocol begins when it is determined that a nation likely has at least one nuclear weapon. They are told that under any circumstance, even a conventional war, if they use that nuclear weapon against their hated enemy, the following will happen:

The United States will attack the nuclear aggressor nation with enough air burst neutron bombs to kill every living thing in the aggressor nation. Every man, woman, child and animal will drop over dead from an intense shower of neutrons. Even all the plants will die.

However, because there are minimal blast and heat effects from neutron bombs, all of the aggressor nation’s buildings, monuments, non living resources, sacred places, and wealth will not be destroyed.

Instead, they will be given to the nation that was attacked with nuclear weapons, as reparations. So the nuclear victim nation will have won the war, and they shall have all the possessions, lands and goods of the aggressor nation, as well as their own nation, from that time forward.

Even those people of the aggressor nation who were elsewhere when the neutron bombs went off, shall be stateless refugees, with no right to ever return home. So the defeat of the aggressor nation will be total.

Oddly enough, the pettiness of people who would use nuclear weapons to settle some ancient feud, would likely understand, and be horrified with the loss of all they had. While they might even be willing to sacrifice the lives of most of their countrymen, the thought of losing their “stuff”, especially to their hated enemy, would be intolerable to them.

Taxes: Asked why he robbed banks, thief Willie Sutton famously replied: "That's where the money is." The same logic is now being used by the White House as it floats the idea of a broad new tax on all consumption.

White House adviser and former Fed chief Paul Volcker, one of the most respected men on Wall Street, broached the delicate topic of taxes Tuesday.

In his remarks, he said a value-added tax "was not as toxic an idea" as it had been in the past, and suggested it might be a way for the U.S. to escape its growing budget crisis.

"If at the end of the day we need to raise taxes, we should raise taxes," he said.

No doubt this is a trial balloon. Based on the $10 trillion in budget deficits expected over the next 10 years, this is one crisis the White House won't want to waste, as Rahm Emanuel would say.

Already, it's waged open war on the rich — vowing to take as much from those having $200,000 in income as it can. The 10-year budget plan submitted by President Obama in fact hits that group with $636 billion in new taxes.

But that's not even close to being enough to pay for the Democrats' reckless expansion of government.

Today in a Nutshell

—Gabriel Malor

All the news we were too busy to bring you in one easy post.

GOP governors are going around their Democratic attorney generals to sue the federal government over Obama's intended destruction of the best healthcare system in the world. Governors Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota, Jan Brewer of Arizona, and Jim Gibbons of Nevada are all getting into the act.

Also on that front, several states are pulling together legislation to prohibit abortion coverage in health plans under the bill. Tennessee, Oklahoma, Missouri, Mississippi, Kansas and Arizona are working on bills for that.

Recent polls that caught my eye: 31% still think Bush is to blame for the economy. Democrats in Congress were blamed by 16%, while President Obama was blamed by 14%.

And a record low 28% believe that Congress should be reelected.

Finally, in the "makes you go 'huh'" department, non-shoebombing dunderhead Al Modadi was on his way to Denver to meet with convicted Al Qaeda agent Ali Al-Marri.

This is an open thread; all topics welcome.

The Obama nuclear doctrine just reaffirms what I have personally thought about him and his followers who now occupy such high positions of power (after we foolishly voted him in) – that there are no grown ups in the White House – just a bunch of would be college political science professors, community organizers, social workers, and careerist civil servants. To unilaterally  tell  rogue regimes that they need not worry about  a nuclear attack if they launch chemical or biological warfare against us, possibly killing tens or hundreds of thousands of Americans,  borders on criminal stupidity or even treason.

The Ends and the Means

"Obama is delivering what he promised and what all the subtle and nuanced explainers promised was just balderdash for the base during the campaign. The different parts of the image never connected. On one side are all the sophisticated technocrats just itching to take their often poorly research developed theories out of the think tanks and universities and try them out. On the other hand were all the emotional foot soldiers and sob-sisters chanting for “Hope and Change.” Part of the problem is that the technocrats are as isolated from reality by their narrow educational and social experiences as are the believers in free mortgages and a Obama’s secret money stash. The technocrats may know that in their specialty the plan includes a black box labeled “and then a miracle occurs” but they assume that only applies to their corner and that everywhere else unicorns are being delivered. If you really believe then you just keep kicking the can down the road because the faith tells you it will be OK.

American Jews keep saying it has to be OK because Emanuel and Axelrod work for him so he can’t be hostile to Israel. Or they try to project onto the disputes between Likud and Labour the partisan identities that they have internalized in America. Doing so allows them to align with the Obama position by defining Netanyahu as illegitimate and not a true Jew because he is not a supporter of an American Democrat. It is the ultimate “No true Scotsman” argument taken to an extreme that most Israelis should find more frightening then any threat from Hamas.

For 65 years the Jews of America invested all their emotional energy into a vision of themselves as being respected and credible and part of a grand coalition that included Jews, Blacks, Artists, Academics and Progressives. They projected this back into a worship of FDR, who personally had little affection for them, and tied their support for the struggling new state of Israel into the partisan dream. Now they are discovering, not that it hasn’t been obvious for 30 or 40 years, what their friends think of them. Absorbing the blow may take more time then they have. It is certainly not something that the Israelis can wait for."

This is just not true. Obama is a puppet, and a stupid and big headed narcissist puppet at that. But that is one reason he was chosen, nurtured, directed and paid for to be the President of our once United States of America.

You must get your head around the idea, the reality of Obama being nothing more than a mouthpiece and puppet of very powerful cartels that are actually behind this latest socialist/you name it – takeover of our Republic.

They are the enemies within and without. Millions of dollars came from outside of the U.S. Just one of the people involved is Soros. He along with socialists and others are involved and behind this. And they are succeeding.

Obama is a puppet, a distraction, a mis-direction. The real people are the same ones that have been trying to destroy our nation for years and others that have joined them in their efforts.

Obama is the Joker, the clown, the object that they put up for us to concentrate on to misdirect us, to hate, to ridicule, to waste our time on – when and while they continue with their plans to destroy, forever change our Republic.

Get your thinking up. It is not just about Obama.

Just got back from taking the family to Daytona, FL. Anyone who wants to see a glimpse of America’s economic decline only needs to drive down 1-75 between Perry, Georgia to Lakeland, Florida.
Off ramp after off ramp of blue signs,
with darker rectangles where the signs used to point the way to gas stations, restaurants, motels, attractions.
Exit 97 at Cordele, Georgia is a good example. An attractive, large, newer complete Truck Stop. Empty. No Popeye’s, or chain buffet. Closed, nice hotel on site.
You can’t even buy gas at the exit.
( DO use the KOA. Very nice).
These exits are our future if Obama’s
policies continue.

Via Flea;

The video released by Wiki Leaks is EXTREMELY misleading, and propagating it as “murder” is borderline criminal. Their 17 minute version edited out any mention of hostile gunfire on the part of insurgents for the purpose of defaming U.S. Defence Forces. WikiLeak head Julian Assange has since reluctantly admitted to AK-47 and RPGs being present. To their credit, they did release a full 39 minute version, but for “research” purposes only. Their edited version tells a very different story.

136. Cowboy

I’ve never seen any mystery involved in whatever Obama does. That says nothing about me, other than the fact that I live among leftists and hardcore Obama supporters. Obama’s been faithfully following down the line of their beefs with no variation.

They consider Israel to be the aggressor, they hate Bibi and are enraged over Tariq Ramadan’s case. That’s all you need to know about Obama’s Israel policy.

They discount the threat of international terrorism and think the US over-reacted on 9/11. They’re also caught in a trap of their own devising, and they know it, regarding Afghanistan. They oppose our involvement in Afghanistan, but recognize that they are in a dicey political position because for 7 years they pretended to support Afghanistan as a hedge for their patriotism credentials while they mobilized against Iraq. Now they’re in a quandry over Afganistan, a project they resent their own support for these days. That’s all you need to know about Obama’s Afghanistan policy.

They’ve wanted national health care for decades, and mostly because all the cool kids in Europe have it. No empirical evidence about how problematic that proposition is in so many ways will disuade them from the desire to feel better for taking the next steps in progressivism. That’s all you need to know about Obama’s “historic” year long push for health care over creating jobs in the face of a severe recession.

Advancing nuclear arms control treaties is a deep rooted fantasy dating back to the 1960’s. Al Gore used to be considered one the Senate’s foremost heavyweights on this subject, and the power of it parleyed him onto a presidential ticket. That was before the Soviets collapsed and he had to retool for the next heavy issue by embracing environmentalism. Obama’s fetishizing on this otherwise forgotten leftist trope; that’s why we’re screwed. He came knocking, with concessions in hand in order to generate interest, to the Kremlin. Because he’s a complex intellectual, you know. That’s all you need to know about Obama’s nuclear policies.

Obama’s isn’t very enigmatic at all. He’s governing like quite the formulaic leftist. In fact his lack of inventiveness is alarming.

He really, really, really wants to please a certain crowd in my estimation. Every presidential action he has done makes sense in that regard.

Of course the trouble is that those folks he’s so eager to please are really not very interested in what’s best for America, to say the least, other than to use it as a playground for their social and economic experimentations.

IN MICHIGAN, political arson? “I think the idea of committing arson in order to get federal stimulus money for government jobs is about as perverted as it is possible to get. Snort: Huffpo writer moans about Left’s lack of “women of any wattage”

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 9, 2010 03:34 PM

Well, well. It looks like the libs are coming down with a case of Strong Conservative Woman Envy.

Take a look at this:

The fact remains that there is a “Hillary hole,” with women wanting their turn, while people hunger for something radically different, which is currently being filled by the Tea Party, a star named Sarah and her fans. Not surprisingly, as poll after poll on her rolls out, the narrative on Sarah Palin continues to be filled out unfairly. I know, you’re shocked. But love her or hate her, whether she runs in 2012 or not, when you look at the left, the reality is there’s no anti-Palin progressive who matches what Palin’s got.

…Mrs. Palin’s politics aren’t for me, and though I pine to see hot headliners from the left, instead we get the likes of Claire McCaskill, Kathleen Sebelius and other Obama blue dog duds, with no women of any wattage in sight.

What makes the piece extra-amusing: The female writer, Taylor Marsh, posted her lament on the blog of political cross-dressing Gingrichite-turned-liberal Arianna Huffington.

No comment from Marsh on Arianna’s wattage.

Taylor Marsh, who is a very smart woman whose knee does not jerk, asks the question, and it’s a revealing one. Despising her as they do, the question suggests that -beneath the disdain- they appreciate what she brings with her. At least Marsh does:

Mrs. Palin’s politics aren’t for me, and though I pine to see hot headliners from the left, instead we get the likes of Claire McCaskill, Kathleen Sebelius and other Obama blue dog duds, with no women of any wattage in sight.

As much as they savage her (beyond anything I’d ever seen perpetrated against a politician) and flip feminist notions in order to denigrate her (who can forget the “shouldn’t she be home with that retarded baby?” meme) the left understood very clearly that -as Camille Paglia wrote- Palin is both photogenic and a powerful natural before a crowd.

Conservative though she may be, I felt that Palin represented an explosion of a brand new style of muscular American feminism. At her startling debut on that day, she was combining male and female qualities in ways that I have never seen before. And she was somehow able to seem simultaneously reassuringly traditional and gung-ho futurist. In terms of redefining the persona for female authority and leadership, Palin has made the biggest step forward in feminism since Madonna channeled the dominatrix persona of high-glam Marlene Dietrich and rammed pro-sex, pro-beauty feminism down the throats of the prissy, victim-mongering, philistine feminist establishment.

For all of her weaknesses -and she has them- I have said from the start that if Sarah Palin had brought precisely the same life-story into politics (middle-class woman who worked her way through school, who married her high school sweetheart, owned a business with him, and met payrolls; a mom who started in politics by going to PTA meetings and became the Governor of an energy-rich state while raising kids; a women who could shoot and dress a moose, a runner) plus carried a D after her name, and not an R, why she’d be the toast of the Democrat party, today, the very model of the “do it all, have it all, self-sufficient woman.”

But since Palin does carry that R after her name? There’s nothing admirable there, nothing to see. And it’s perfectly alright to objectify her, sexually, even unto violence.

I’ve become agnostic on Palin, myself. I have reservations about her. Where she is weak, I don’t see her getting stronger; she seems content to ride the wave, for now. But her strengths are politically formidable. The woman can communicate; she is touched with that quality of energetic “American Genius” that is both elusive and tantalizing.

The Democrats see those strengths, too, and they understand that when you have the media on your side -as they surely do- then weaknesses can be covered up or ignored, while the strengths are burnished into phenomena. For them, everything about Sarah Palin is just awful. And boy, do they wish they had one of her.

Moscow Pushing New Kyrgyz Government to Evict U.S.; Obama Rendered Impotent By Dreams of Nuclear Legacy

—Gabriel Malor

While President Obama makes calf eyes at Dmitry Medvedev, Moscow is trying to push the U.S. out of central Asia:

Russia has long dreamed of evicting the United States from Central Asia and a Russian official said on Thursday that Moscow would urge the interim Kyrgyz government to shut the U.S. base.

Suspicions of the Kremlin's hand in the unrest were raised when Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin became the first world leader to recognize the authority of the self-proclaimed government, just hours after it took power.

Washington has been more guarded, refusing to endorse either President Kurmanbek Bakiyev or the self-proclaimed government leaders, some of whom have already raised the specter of shutting the base.

"Russia was very quick to act. Both China and the U.S., by comparison, were caught on the hop," said Nick Day, chief executive of business intelligence firm Diligence LLC.

"Russia is going to dominate Kyrgyzstan and that means problems for the U.S," he said. "Russia will use this as a lever in negotiations with America."

Let's see: Georgia and Ukraine slipping from us. Now Kyrgyzstan is in Moscow's sights and Obama's hands are tied if he wants his precious nuclear legacy to last longer than a week.

No wonder Obama is trying to reassure ex-Soviet bloc NATO allies that he's not abandoning them.

39 Boy, Obambi really is a moron, isn't he? He really thinks that if he kowtows to everyone that the world will just be all warm fuzzy, and that a blanket of love will wrap the world in peace. What a moron. We seriously need to get rid of this guy. He has no idea what the hell he is doing. He is actually making the world a much less stable place, more dangerous place, and bringing about conditions that will eventually lead to broader conflicts. He does not understand that if the US is to retreat from the world, that there are others happily waiting in the wings to fill that power vacuum. Unfortunately, those that are waiting to step up are not going to be so benevolent.

141 But, we were told that if we elected a leftist minority all the world would love us!! There would be peace and no war and no power struggles!

Anyone who voted for Obama is either a knowing traitor, knowing that they elected an anti-American socialist, or else they are simply a jackass. Even if they regret it now, that just means they are jackasses that have become self aware.

PS Being a jackass is no excuse for treason. Regret after the fact doesn't make it forgivable.

I rarely just link to an article without comment, but this is just too good.

I’ll excerpt some of the better whacks, but read the whole thing. It’s that good. She’s saying what I’ve been saying from before the election.

From his whoppers about small things on the campaign trail (his uncle helped liberate Auschwitz; his parents married because of Selma; his father got a scholarship to America from the Kennedy’s) to his lies about very big things (his health care plan will reduce employer insurance premiums by3000 percent, or $3,000 — still a lie), this president is now only allowed in polite company because he is the president. In any real-world company, inveterate liars are shunned as utterly untrustworthy, unreliable, unwelcome guests. (Unless their last name is “Clinton,” we shouldn’t forget.) [The Author didn't even scratch the surface. - ed]

[snip]

Never has so much goodwill been so thoroughly wasted and abused.

President Obama came into office riding a wave of well-wishes that was truly unprecedented. He also faced grave problems. He did not face unprecedented problems, as he so likes to pretend.

If President Obama were really the smartest guy of his generation, then he would have done the following:

He would have, first and foremost, surrounded himself with unimpeachable, morally sound, and experienced cabinet members.  Instead he filled his cabinet with Clinton retreads, tax cheats, polarizing ideologues, and unfit-for-the-real-world academics.

Dumb. Really dumb.

Second, President Obama — if he were really smart — would have told his Chicago intimates, especially Desiree Rogers and his wife, Michelle, that until the economy was in full — very full — rebound, there would be no expensive, vulgar partying in the people’s house. Knowing full well that he had come into the presidency on his own rhetoric that we were facing the worst “economic crisis since the Great Depression,” Barack Obama would have known better — if he were really smart — than to order up gala parties with imported Wagu beef at $100 per pound, while he was speaking out the other side of his mouth about the disgusting nature of executive retreats to Las Vegas.  A smart man would have known the people would see him as a hypocrite.

[snip]

Anyone — and I mean, anyone — with an ounce of real sense knows that if Obama had simply rolled up his sleeves and put everyone in his administration to work on the economy, ignoring all other domestic agenda items until we were humming back to prosperity, then this man would be on his way to becoming the hero of American hearts. Instead, due only to stupid lunges aimed at pushing through the long-stalled leftist agenda of bringing back the era of big government, this president is becoming an embarrassing laughingstock. It is painful to watch, even for those of us who hate big government. Seeing a grown man make this big a fool of himself — especially the one who carries the banner for the entire American citizenry — is no pleasure. It is pure pain.

Ouch.  Of course, she’s completely right, and then some.

I said this long ago:

Pence: Let’s be honest, let’s be honest. Three years ago Republicans in Congress didn’t just lose their majority, they lost their way.

When I opposed No Child Left Behind, when I opposed the Medicare prescription drug bill, when I opposed the Wall Street bailout, I knew if we kept acting like big government liberals the American people are eventually going to go with the professionals.

And that’s just what they did.

Truth is our party walked away from the principals that minted our national governing majority and the American people walked away from us. Read the rest of this entry »
