Complaints Pour in to FCC Over Super Bowl Flash By Peter Kaplan WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Upset television viewers have filed more than 200,000 complaints about Janet Jackson's breast-baring performance at the Super Bowl, a record for the Federal Communication Commission, officials said on Friday. Gripes over the flash of Jackson's breast last Sunday easily eclipsed the FCC's previous record -- 80,000 complaints that came after television actress Nicole Richie used a curse word on the 2003 Billboard Music Awards, the agency said. "The vast majority express outrage that this occurred during a family program, when many children were in the viewing audience," FCC consumer and information chief K. Dane Snowden said in a statement. The furor was touched off when pop star Justin Timberlake tore off part of Jackson's black leather bustier while the two were singing a duet, exposing her right breast. The halftime show was carried by Viacom unit CBS and staged by sister network MTV. It has intensified calls for the government to take a tougher stance on indecency. FCC Chairman Michael Powell has vowed a thorough investigation of the incident, calling it a "classless, crass and deplorable stunt." The Parents Television Council, a non-profit watchdog group, said it also has been receiving complaints at a record pace, more than 24,000 so far. "We are getting them like crazy," said spokeswoman Katie Wright. Both performers have apologized, and Jackson said the performance went further than expected. Timberlake blamed the exposure on a "wardrobe malfunction." CBS has already said it would use an "enhanced delay" on its Feb. 8 broadcast of the Grammy Awards so it can censor both audio and video as needed, and Walt Disney Co.'s ABC network also said it will use a delay on its Feb. 29 broadcast of the Academy Awards.

What a sad state of affairs when the slimey scum can't even be trusted to act decently. BTW "censor" is a government act. "Edit" doesn't carry the same weight though, does it.
I would vote for a delay of about 5 years...
I wonder how many FR threads have been generated by the halftime show.

I'm sick and tired of the Janet episode. Get over it people, she apologized and it's done. People need to get a life.
I have found the on off switch is the most effective form of censorship I could use.
For those of you who are complaining about what is on broadcast networks, have only one person to blame, yourself.
You are the ones who have allowed this pollution on the air since the get go, I have no sympathy for you, get over it, you have made your bed now lie in it.
If you don't like the bed, it maybe time to take direct action, like not spending your money on AOL or Disney or any of the producers or suppliers of this fine entertainment.
Your choice, government doesn't need to be involved.
Stupid, myopic people who pretend to be decent God-fearing folks feel the need to protest against something. Nevermind that network television is riddled with filth and most shows on cable is practically pornography.
LoL! - They gotta be die-hard Janet Jackson fans. (Wonder how Jacko rates with them?)
Here's where I think we make our mistake. They told us if we didn't like something, don't watch it. So we didn't and it just got worse and worse so that now we CAN'T watch it. We should have complained and complained then. Now the Genie doesn't want to go back into the bottle.
:~)
Didn't take long, did it?
Ya think this thing maybe backfired just a little bit on her?
