Fair Tax ping!
The information above is an excerpt. I forgot to check off the excerpt option when posting the thread.
Yipes! Say NO to fair tax! It's a regressive tax. We need a flat tax.
X I am interested in being audited by the I.R.S. Please make sure they get a copy of this petition with my name on it.
Realistically speaking, what would it take to eliminate the IRS and institute a Fair Tax? They aren't going to change the tax code just because 55,000 out of 300,000,000 Americans sign a petition.
IT IS OUR GOVERNMENT...BY THE PEOPLE...AND WE SHOULD BE THE ONES TO CHOOSE.
I subscribe to Grassfire's e-mail list. These guys are go getters. I'm glad to see they are on board. I have seen their immigration billboards along the roads. They get things done. You can't stop a freight train.
BUMP!
The tax code is not about money. It is the primary source of unconstitutional power for the government. It gives them unprecedented power to control us by rewarding and punishing behavior.
Even many republicans are socialists.. However a value added tax scheme masked by "something else" might be possible..
If they would drop the rate from 30 per cent (exclusive) to 10 per cent (exclusive), I'm there, dude! Might as well get a tax cut out of the thing.
I am all for the fairtax thing but the idea that it will not require the IRS or some similar agency is silly.
Texas (as many other states) has a sales tax. We still need enforcement and accountability to make it work.
Also, it will get more and more complex over time. Again to think it won't is childish in reasoning. Eventually it will be just as onerous in cost as the income tax we have now.
What we need no matter WHAT system we employ is leaders who will QUIT SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY.
Bad excerpt for the initial post.
I thought it was saying that the petition was 55,000 pages when I first looked at this thread.
I shook my head and didn't bother, chuckling at what I thought was a rather amazing irony from a fair tax group that wanted to "simplify" things!
I only came back b/c I kept seeing the thread pop up in the "recent posts" screen and looked at the original post again, at which point I understood what it was saying.
The FairTax is a model of efficiency for collecting federal tax. Compared to the income tax, there's a much larger tax base yet has about eighty percent fewer collection points with about one or two percent of the paperwork and one or two percent of man hours required to collect it.
WHERE DO WE SIGN UP?
