Because the response count to this post is now 12K+ and counting, I feel obligated to give my support in continuing the good fight as you outlined. Stay your course and continue strong objection to a liberal New York city ex-mayor who can pose as anything in order to get the GOP nomination and then change on a dime. He is not to be trusted if one believes in the Second Amendment, is anti-abortion, and wants true strict contructionists appointed as judges, as well as other beliefs re other conservative issues.

Twelve-and-a-half thousand posts is a catharsis.

Good.

> Do you really expect me to do that?

The simple answer is NO. But your network here has fostered a go along to get along mentality. We voted for Bush because it meant the (r) would win. What ever the (r) wants it gets. Did we know Bush would be so weak, no. Do we know that Romney will be as good as Reagan? No. We will make our decisions as time goes by. Everyone needs to relax on the candidates for now, we have plenty of time to decide. 18 months out is a long time. Relax, time will tell.

As far as your issues. Abortionism: on the right track, ulimately a states issue. Feminism: Not sure what you mean, but remember the suffrage act? Homosexualism: All men are created equal? Global Warming: pseudo science. Illegal alien lawbreakers: The fewer the merrier, a true federal issue that can be solved with a powerful president. Gun control: Headed in the right direction, actually a states issue.

I point out these issues to you because we don't agree 100% lock step. And that is why we are a great nation. And a great party. If you look at the democrat party candidates they are 100% pro abortion. No exceptions, tolorated. You must be pro abortion to be elected in thier party. You can be christian but not pro life. How they sleep at night is another question.

On the other hand, I know that I can debate Jim Robinson of the right wing conservative web site freerepublic.com and not be banned/shunned/when we disagree. Ask Sen. Leiberman how democrats deal will malecontents.

It is not socialism but the rise of maternalistic society that wrought all of the changes that you decry.

The paternalistic society that served us well for 5000 years was doomed with the 19th amendment.

And that is also why the Jihadists want us dead.

“Do you really expect me to do that?”

I pray that you and other dedicated conservatives, never do change their dedication to the constitution and the principles that our ancestors fought and died for.

So who else got banned for posting on this thread and not supporting Rudy and did not doing anything on other threads but got banned for doing so on this thread for saying:
“Hello”
“Is this thread still going strong/”
“Wow 13,000 posts....”
“Hey Jim R. I agree with you about those who support Rudy.”
In short just replying on this long and mostly unneeded and an excuse to ban thread.........

I am not interested in picking a fight with anyone but the tendency to attach labels to any candidate we don’t like is troublesome. The word “socialism” has a well known definition and there is nothing that I know of that suggests that Mayor Guilani is a socialist based on his actions as a public servant in New York.

I wish that there were a Ronald Reagan out their to lead the conservatives but unfortunately I have not seen anyone who can fill his shoes. In the absence of perfect, we need to find good and get him elected. An economic conservative who is strong on defense is not a bad place to start. Truth be known, the President can’t do much about abortion, prayer in school, etc. other than appoint good Supreme Court Justices.

A week old and this thread has got over 14000 responses-—that MUST be a record. And for any thread to continue on for a solid week with that kind of activity, it’s sort of like making the FR Bestseller List/

I for one have not decided who I will vote for in the Primaries. There are many issues I'm interested in but until everyone, Republican and Democrat get their heads out of the sand and realize we are at war. It's not just the war in Iraq or Afghanistan.

I want a President who will take a strong stand against the Islamo Fascist who want to kill everyone. Conservative, Democrat.

I am against abortion, gun control, tax increases, homosexual marriage as much as the next guy but if we don't win this war on terror and the Muslim fanatic succeed those other things will be the least of our worries.

I want a candidate who is strong on defense and not only one who says they support out troops, but one who supports their mission and will see it through to victory for our guys.

No more Vietnam..

A thread with over 14,000 posts in it tends to be either very serious or very silly. I read a couple of thousands posts and have to admit that - as a European freeper - I don't know where to place this one in, there're lots of things I just don't understand, and a lot of things, I just don't like, esp. the foul language which is used even by the management...

So, I took a look at the stats:

Over 800 freepers participated in this thread, 30 freepers of those now show a blue screen (quidnunc KATIE-O kellynch shaylalala stuned_beeber jasoncann GenuineChocolateFace BeHoldAPaleHorse AZRepublican motzman Al Simmons sully777 Just sayin NGRY Sam Hill Pukin Dog habs4ever Dominic Harr Zeroisanumber 68 grunt cicero's_son oceanview Howlin RadioAstronomer meg88 debg B-bone justshutupandtakeit Peach Texasforever )

I don't now, how many "opused" or choose a kind of "inner emigration"...

To put this numbers in a context, I tried to get some stats of this site. At the homepage, it just states: Over 200,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic since inception in 1996 and our forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and all around the world.

Using the fact, that every freeper has a unique id-number (now going up to something like 280.000), I took a sample of 1000 feasible id-numbers and had a closer look at them. Here are my results:

It seems to be fair to say that there are 16,400 active freepers. Ca. 5% of those took part in this very thread. But I think that most of us other active freepers had a look at it. And we'll observe the development of this site: BTB: Of course, no guarantee can be given for the numbers - though they seem to be reasonable guesses. I'd be glad if someone could give the actual values...

Frankly, I never expected that you would collect money for three weeks and then, within a couple of hours, conduct a Soviet-style purge of Freepers. The timing of this is very suspicious and suggests a premeditated strategery.

Had I known that such a purge would be conducted — particularly a purge characterized by viciousness, cruelty and a pack of hyenas tearing into long-time Freepers, I would never had renewed my monthly donation. The most offensive part of this horrible thread has been the savage behavior towards many female Freepers by some of the male Brownshirts. Please cancel my monthly donation effective immediately. I cannot in good conscience support a site that tolerates abusive behavior towards women.

All you had to do was ask all Rudy supporters to leave, Jim. You didn’t need to drag this formerly great forum and your own reputation through the mud. I for one would have left with no hard feelings.

I’m not changing this tagline and I hope that one day in the future this will once again be a “family conservative “ friendly site. If not, it’s been a wonderful five years Freeping and two additional years lurking before that. I have no illusions that control of this forum rests with anyone but you. I’ll respect whatever decision you make regarding termination of any Freeper’s account.

Thank you for your work in founding this site. You provided a wonderful home for all of us locked out of the political discourse of this nation because we did not go along with the singleminded view of the MSM. You are so much better than this thread, Jim. It is very sad to see what anger and frustration has done to this forum.

To all of those who invoke the name of Ronald Reagan on this thread, all I can say is that the comments on this thread — on all sides — would sicken him. Ronald Reagan was LOVED by this country — not for his conservatism or any other political quality, but because he was above all else a kind and gentle soul who never hated anybody — even his political enemies. Far be it from me to claim that I will ever live up to his example of grace, kindness, compassion, and humility — but I hope that readers of this will think carefully about the Greatness of Reagan and how it was his very human soul that made him so successful as an actor, a politician, a President, a husband, a man, and an American. He was the last person who would ever claim perfection — he was too reverent and God-fearing a man to believe that.
