Plane Crashes into World Trade Center

Just in. I am looking at a picture of the WTC with smoke pouring out of the western tower. Looks like a huge amount of damage. Debris raining down on people in the street.

The tragedy is horrible. But why did it happen? Why wasn't it prevented? And what is going to be done about it now? The country has sorrow to get thru but also prevention to be done. We can whine about what has happened or we can get busy and prevent more damage. What is it going to be?

I've been in hysterics for about an hour, and I'm still no closer to comprehending what I saw. The site is loading so slowly right now I hate to start another thread on this, as there are plenty of others on which to continue the discussion.
To those who have mentioned having family or friends in the building, on NY1 they were speaking to a man who worked on the 77th floor of the north tower and GOT OUT before the building collapsed. There is hope! I pray for all of you, that you hear good news.
