  • "Tea Party" Protests Appear to Draw At Least 250,000

The “big picture” that a lot (including the media) were overlooking was this was done on a Wednesday! Think if it was done on a Weekend how many more folks who couldn’t get off work/school/other responsibilites (you know, those who pay taxes!) would have shown up! (I took a vacation day).

I think with a little more lead time (since MSM wasn’t covering it before, the word didn’t get out as fast as it could have) and done on a weekend, I bet we could hit the million person mark, or darn close to it

“The white male shall always be portrayed as a dunce.”

A lot of people think this is a joke, but it’s not. White males will always be the brunt. It’s almost like a hierarchy. If you’re a member of one “protected” group, you may be the brunt, but only by one of similar status, or one who is the member of more than one protected group.

Take note one night of just the commercials and mark it down, you’ll be surprised....or not

Anyone remember any problem when Bryant Gumball basically said the winter olympics were a joke because it was predominately white people?
Probably not, since there was almost ZERO coverage, and not a darn thing done....

Double standards are NOT the way to being viewed as equal...

Apply the same standards across the board, and THEN we’ll have true equality...

I'm curious (not doubting you). Where did you find out the race of the victim? I'm a pretty good researcher, and I haven't been able to find that yet.
Do you have any info on the attackers?

Folks, let's not lose track of the issue here.
Does he look as "sharp" as he's supposed too? Definately not. But what teenager does these day? Did the principal oversee the attire of all students to ensure they were sharp? Nope. The principal, for whatever reason, doesn't think the kilt is acceptable cultural attire, and THAT is not for him to decide.

Creedence, I get the feeling you're very narrow minded, and somewhat uniformed. The kilt is NOT a skirt.

    Creedence,
If you were so "old fashion" you'd probably support the wearing of the kilt. If you think it's stupid, fine, but I hope then you hold the same standard for ALL cultural dress.
And all I can say is I'm glad it's not up to you, Emperor.

    Jalisco,
Don't make the mistake in thinking that the kilt is reserved for Scots. There is even an American tartan. Look into it, even if it's just to wear to Highland Gatherings or Celtic festivals.

Any of you actually READING the article? He wasn't shunned because he looked sloppy, or wasn't in "proper highland attire". He was shunned because the principal didn't want anyone who looked "like a clown". If I have to choose between someone looking "messy" in a kilt vs. someone who thinks the kilt makes you look like a clown, I'll take the latter. And I've got news for you, when participating in the Highland games, we looked a lot sloppier than that. Go chastize one of the heavies for not looking appropriate.

Nice try. Public indecency laws prevent wearing just dyed hair. Is there something indecent about a kilt???

How he looked isn't the point. Had the principal said "he's not dressed formal enough, or neat enough", that would be understandable. Require him to be more formal (though I doubt he would have been the "worst dressed" anyway). No, it's the fact that the principal considers someone dressed in a kilt to look like a CLOWN! That's my hertitage, and I'll be damned if I'll let someone walk all over it. Had this been some traditional South American, or African garb, there would be large scale public outcry already....

I don't know, maybe it's me, but aren't we missing the point here?

1- A baseball stadium isn't something that is for the "betterment of society" (like a hospital, roadway, etc).
2- There are land owners who don't want to sell. Period. I don't care if you don't like their business, it's still theirs.

I only have a passing understanding of the potato famine. Been to Ireland, and there's a couple of variations on the history. What I've gotten from is was that, obviously, England wasn't responsible for the famine itself. But the taxation on fertile land, and the policies they had of sending food to England, regardless of the need in Ireland, made the problem MUCH worse than it could have been. In my understanding, taxation on the land in the East, which is very fertile, became prohibitive. Many farmers went to the west coast, where, if you've been there, you know how harsh it is. Potatoes (underground crops) grew well there. That became the major crop. blight (plant disease) hit, and the crops went sour. No food. Now, there were still a lot of farming of other crops done in other areas, but from my understanding, much was shipped to the UK.
Others, I'm sure, will clarify further or better.

You are correct. I completely agree with you in that slavery is terrible, and there is/was no excuse for it. Even despite the fact that at the time it may have been "accepted". (as a side note, do we forget that MANY cultures held slaves? Is slavery the overriding theme when we watch a documentary about the Pharoes of Egypt, or Roman Empire? Again, this is not an excuse for slavery, rather to show that there is an effort being made to discredit our forefathers where others are not held to the same standard.)
Additionally, this program (and others) will go out of their way to ensure that they spend as much time (or more) declaring the evils of our founding fathers, while giving a pass to more contemporary people.
