U.S. Bishops Cut All Funding to ACORN, Activities Funded Hard to Determine

Baltimore, Nov 11, 2008 (CNA).- The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has not yet been able to determine if grants made to ACORN were used for fraudulent voter registration, but has cut off all funding to the community organizing group, Bishop Robert Morin announced on Tuesday.

Shortly after addressing the full assembly of U.S. Catholic bishops, Bishop Morin spoke to reporters about what the bishops had learned concerning the use of grants from the CCHD to the group Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), which is currently under investigation in 13 states for voter fraud.

CCHD originally announced in July 2008 that it was suspending funding to ACORN because of the embezzlement of 1 million dollars by the brother of ACORN founder Wade Rathke. Today, however, the Bishop Morin went one step further and announced the cancelation of all funding to the group.

When Bishop Morin was asked by the press why CCHD didn’t cancel funding earlier, given

I would suggest that you might consider a google search with the key words RAYMOND ARROYO ACORN.

you will get about 13000 hits.

CCHD with its relationship to ACORN may give you pause to how you may make your charitable contributions!

If I remember correctly, a lot of this stuff started out with Saul Alinsky and his “Industrial Areas Foundations.” They were “experiments” in organizing parishes in low-income areas around heavy industry into “base groups,” which could later be mobilized to more radical and obvious activities. Alinsky was determined to undermine the spiritual authority of the Catholic Church. It’s been a long time since I studied any of this, but I believer that’s where ACORN and other “Community Action Programs” got started years ago.

I heard this on the "News from a Christian Perspective" today on a Christian Radio Station. Phyllis Schlaffy, a Catholic herself, is the one who exposed this. YOU GO GIRL!

Don't want to be too critical of my RC friends, but I have to wonder how this group measured up in the first place.

You’re right, Zulu. That’s exactly what this is. I commend the Catholic bishops for defunding ACORN, but they should have done it before the primaries and caucuses.

has not yet been able to determine if grants made to ACORN were used for fraudulent voter registration, but has cut off all funding to the community organizing group, Bishop Robert Morin announced on Tuesday.

There is no doubt whatsoever that it funded such things, at least indirectly, if not directly.

It is like I have been telling anyone and everyone for years:

There is NO SUCH THING as 'humanitarian aid' to the people of an enemy, whether it is a government or an organization.

EVERY cent, in cash or kind, rendered to "the people" in the way of food, medicines, etc is money the regime or organization doesn't have to spend on the purpose, so can use for its own ends: it is REGIME Aid, one way or the other.

Ask Saddam's ghost; ask L'il Kimchee; ask Mugabe; ask the Burmese (Myanmar) "leaders"; ask the Leeches In Chief at the UN.

This says that they’re suspending the funding, not necessarily ending it. And they are suspending because of the embezzlement, not because of the alledged vote fraud. This was on the World Over last night and Arroyo was interviewing some guy named Shaw, a former spokesman for USCCB. I was not convinced by him.

"Don't want to be too critical of my RC friends, but I have to wonder how this group measured up in the first place. "

I'm no expert, but I'd say it was a result of what I said above about the Alinsky groups. When these groups were in their ascendancy, the Church was in the process of becoming infiltrated by some VERY leftward-leaning priests and bishops, thanks to a socialist as a papal nuncio. (European politics, remember?)

At any rate, these "moles" were moved into the Church's heirarchy over a period of years, and gradually they eased their policies into place. The Vatican does not "vet" priestly candidates, but it ordains bishops on the say-so of various advisors. If the candidates are protoge's of the leftist cardinals, their secrets will be hidden from the Pope. This, unfortunately, does not invalidate any Holy Orders imparted in those ordinations.

So this is how these bums got in, got established, passed on their propaganda, encouraged and condoned the leftist tilt of many of the Church's outreaches during that time. The groups have achieved a certain "respectable" crust, but their roots run deep into the Alinsky IAF groups.

The second collection in our Catholic parish this weekend was for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. NO WAY does that corrupt organization get another nickel of my money. What a disgrace.
