I've got to admit to you I never even heard of Rep. Gerry Connolly until just now. But he's got to be one of the leading jerks in Congress right now.
He scolds the panel arguing in favor of conscience rights that included Bishop William Lori of Bridgeport, and leaders of other faiths for blowing this whole HHS mandate thing completely out of proportion. This asshat even shakes his finger at them and says they're taking part in a "Stalinist" hearing and tells them they should be ashamed of themselves.
You've got to watch this clown (barfbag not included):

Connolly is a complete jerk. He was a jerk when he was in the government of Fairfax county and is still a jerk. He’s like a mini-Jim Moran.
I was praying in 2008 that he would be a one-term wonder and Keith Fimian would beat him. Connolly won by a small margin. I’m sure his district was one in which the Dems pulled out all the stops to save. Hopefully he can be swept away in 2012 but Arlington and Fairfax are big seats to hold on to for the Dems and they will fight to the death to keep them.
Isn’t Connolly, also like Moran, from Boston? I’d never heard of him, then he was the Providence Supervisor, then Chmn of the Board of Supv, then Congressman. He never held any office for very long before looking for a promotion. Before going on the Board of Supervisors, I don’t remember any record of his civic involvement. Just another ambitious lawyer/pol.
I lived in the 11th (even before it was the 11th) for 23 years and watched it go from nicely red to pitifully blue. Alas, we’re now in the 8th which is just hopeless.
What do you expect from a man who bows down to the zipper of another man and not to the altar of God.
If you mean originally from Boston, I don’t know, but it’s a good bet. Heck, most of the Irish in politics have roots in Boston, New York, or Chicago. We used to be in the 10th (Wolf-red), definitely unaccustomed to challenges from the left. But the government-spread has reached us, might as well be Alexandria. It looks like Fimian may run against Connolly again. Perhaps this time, the GOP’ll take it seriously.

From his very first day in office he made a moral decision to vote against the will of the majority of the people that he was elected to represent. This is nothing new for Mr Connolly. During his tenure as the Fairfax County Supervisor, against the will of the people of Fairfax County, he passed legislation that turned Fairfax County into a sanctuary for illegal immigrants.
The price of Mr. Connolly’s illegal immigrant friendly governance should not only be measured in the tax dollars spent on illegal immigrant welfare, nor simply the costs incurred by Lowes, Home Depot and others, who were forced to provide climate controlled illegal immigrant day labor recreational gathering facilities, complete with entertainment systems, bathrooms and catering, but also should include the costs of dealing with the resulting 22% increase in crime he created by turning Fairfax County into a sanctuary for illegal behavior (during the same time Prince William County passed strict immigration rules that resulted in a 21% decrease in crime).
Maybe next time we could arm the bishops with a quiver of arrows and a compound bow before heading into these inspipid hearings.
