Newark Police Director: Immigration Status Of Schoolyard Slayings Suspect "Irrelevant"
Millennium Radio New Jersey ^ | Wednesday, August 15, 2007 | By: Martin Di Caro

Posted on 08/15/2007 5:31:08 AM PDT by Calpernia

At a news conference on Tuesday, Newark Police Director Gary McCarthy said the immigration status of a chief suspect in the murders of three college students behind an elementary school August 4 is "irrelevant."

"What's relevant to me is that they're murderers, and what's relevant is that a heinous crime has occurred," said McCarthy.

Jose Carranza, 28, one of three suspects so far charged in the execution-style killings, is an illegal alien from Peru. However, despite his many encounters with the legal system, his immigration status wasn't determined. Had federal immigration officials known Carranza was arrested in connection with child rape allegations first in January and then again in May, they could have immediately moved to detain the accused at his bail hearings. But federal officials were never notified. Carranza posted $150,000 bail and was freed in late May.

McCarthy contended there were no guarantees the feds would have acted. "They might have and they might not have," he said. Before he could be asked another question by reporters, Newark Mayor Cory Booker interjected. "It is no way the obligation of the city police department to bo going around doing the work of [Immigration and Customs Enforcement]." Booker added that talk focusing on Carranza's imigration status could have a chilling effect on immigrants in his city. He said immigrants, both legal and illegal, are routinely picked on by criminals.

Booker and McCarthy revealed no specific information about the ongoing hunt for three more suspects, two of whom are juveniles. The 24-year-old being sought, Rodolfo Godinez of Newark, was a fugitive on the night of the murders and has been for four years. He became a fugitive in July 2003 after failing to appear in Superior Court on charges that he robbed and attacked three people in Irvington a year earlier, according to court records obtained by the Star-Ledger.

The news conference was called so Mayor Booker could unveil a street surveillance program he says will reduce crime in the city's most dangerous neighborhoods. The multimillion dollar program will saturate high-crime areas with cameras and gunshot detection technology. The total number is expected to reach more than 120 when all are in place by next summer.

Is there any reason to think that these murders might have been part of a scheme to frighten blacks out of the neighborhood and allow the perpetrators or whoever they worked for to move in and turn the neighborhood into an illegal immigrant barrio?

To Newark Police Director Gary McCarthy :

What is relavant is that your city's sanctuary policies allowed an illegal alien felon who would otherwise be jailed or deported to freely roam the streets and snuff out the lives of three useful humans.

I hope their families sue under RICO statues, bankrupt the city and cost you your job.

They don't get it in Newark's police department. The murderers were able to commit a series of brutal crimes, thanks to Newark's policy of non-cooperation with the federal government on locating and deporting illegal aliens. The blood of the Americans murdered is on the heads and hands of Newark's government. As long as they continue to condone people's right to break America's laws, more Americans will be assaulted, raped and murdered. This must be changed.

I didn’t think of that. But, in terms of sanctuary grants, that really makes sense.

What’s relevant is that this vermin could have been removed from the country years ago if not for the hellish combination of PC Hispanic racism and RINO/corporate greed that drive our immigration non-policy.

I suspect that at least some black Americans (people whose ancestors have been in this country since colonial times, don’t forget) have already started to take matters into their own hands, with PC racist libs in the media and government dismissing the result as “gang-related” violence.

That’s my home state in action. And Corzine gave another term to the great liberal judge who just couldn’t make it easy enough for this vile creature to go out and have himself another party.

No accountability will be done. It’s New Jersey.

There are no such things as "illegal immigrants". To become an immigrant you must first apply abroad. There are, however, "undocumented tourists".

Everyone should be concerned with tourists who commit crimes.

As far as the "tourists" who go to Newark NJ are concerned, GAD!

People that stupid should be turned back at the airport.

I’ve seen that defined on this FR forum before. I’ve absolutely no issue with a typical poster saying illegal immigrant; because I understand what they mean.

However, I entirely agree with you that someone like this Police Director should not be misspeaking like this and should correctly say, illegal alien, expired visa, or whatever the correct term would be.

That don’t misspeak like that on ICE.gov.

I don't think so.

I've been around a while to see neighborhoods change.
I've never seen a neighborhood where blacks are frightened out of said neighborhood. Wealthy and middle class blacks (or any color of wealthy and middle class) may leave a neighborhood, as they have choices on where to live but working class and poor blacks (or any color of working class and poor) aren't usually frightened out of a neighborhood. They (working class and poor) often don't have the option to be "frightened," so they stay and duke it out, as it were.

In our state, no one is elected. They are SELECTED.

State of NJ was under Federal Orders NOT to use their voter registration “legacy” system which contains DEAD voters and People that long moved away, THEY DID IT ANYWAY.

What NJ DID:

http://www.govtech.net/magazine/channel_story.php/101667

A stipulation and order agreement between the state and federal governments provides New Jersey additional time to implement a statewide voter registration database while ensuring that the November 7 general election operates fairly and guarantees all eligible voters the right to vote, Attorney General Stuart Rabner announced today.

The agreement allows the postponement of full implementation of the statewide voter registration system, which was scheduled to be in effect under provisions of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) and a related state law. Instead, the state will use the existing county voter registration rolls as the official system for this fall’s election.

The state today also sought a declaratory judgment in Superior Court delaying the full implementation of the statewide voter registration system because exclusive use of the statewide system that could result in problems that could threaten the integrity and orderly administration of the election.

What NJ was ORDERED Not to Do:

http://www.usdoj.gov/crt/voting/nvra/nj_hava_comp.htm

The State of New Jersey is not in compliance with several provisions of Section 303(a) of HAVA, and was not in compliance by January 1, 2006.

21. Defendants violations of Section 303(a) of HAVA include the following:

(a) Defendants have not completed a computerized statewide voter registration list that serves as the sole system for managing and storing the State’s list of registered voters, see 42 U.S.C. § 15483(a)(1)(A)(i);

(b) Defendants’ current computerized statewide list does not contain the name and registration information for all legally registered voters in the State, see 42 U.S.C. § 15483(a) (1)(A)(ii);

(c) Defendants cannot use the current computerized statewide list as the official registration list for the November 2006 general election, which include elections for federal office in the State, see 42 U.S.C. § 15483(a)(1)(A)(viii);

(d) Defendants have not performed list maintenance on the statewide computerized registration list by removing duplicate registrations from the list, see 42 U.S.C. § 15483(a)(2)(B)(iii); and

(e) Defendants have not required applicants for voter registration to provide a driver’s license number (if they have such number) or the last four digits of the applicant’s social security number (if the applicant does not have driver’s license number) on voter registration applications, see 42 U.S.C. § 15483(a)(5)(A)(i).

22. As a result of the failure of Defendants to take the actions set forth in Paragraph 21 above, there is no statewide voter registration list in the State of New Jersey that complies with the requirements of Section 303(a) of HAVA.

23. Unless and until ordered to do so by this Court, Defendants will not come into compliance with Section 303(a) of HAVA.

SECOND CAUSE OF ACTION
24. Plaintiff restates and incorporates herein by reference the allegations contained in Paragraphs 1 through 23 of this Complaint.

25. Pursuant to the NVRA and New Jersey law, the New Jersey Attorney General is the chief state election official responsible for the conduct of list maintenance. 42 U.S.C. § 1973gg-8; N.J. Ann. Stat. 19:31-6a.

26. Defendants have not complied with the list maintenance requirements of Sections 8(a)(3) and (4) of the NVRA because:

(a) Defendants have not completed a general program to remove deceased registrants from the State’s official list of registered voters, see 42 U.S.C. § 1973gg-6(a)(4)(A); and

(b) Defendants have not performed or completed a general program that identifies and removes registrants who have had a change of residence, see 42 U.S.C. § 1973gg-6(a)(4)(B).

27. As a result of the Defendants’ failure set forth in Paragraph 26 above, the State of New Jersey has not complied with the list maintenance requirements of Section 8(a) of the NVRA, 42 U.S.C. § 1973-gg(a).

28. Unless and until ordered to do so by this Court, the Defendants will not take timely actions necessary to ensure that list maintenance requirements are performed as required under Section 8 of the NVRA.

This story is being spun. The chief is saying that murder is what happened here and that’s what he is concerned about. He doesn’t want this to become something bigger and beyond his jurisdiction for when it does it takes some focus off the crime that was committed. I don’t see him saying he doesn’t care about immigration.

Bravo on you Jorge and Co.
