Be aware that your perfectly legal small "tea party" or similar gathering could be swarmed by violent criminals called over by "community organizers" in a matter of moments.

It isn’t just gangs of criminals. It is also gangs of anarchists. Expect them to organize a riot this way one day.

For now, they test the wires.

The “muslim youths” in France were using “flash mobbing” as a very effective tactic during the street fights and arson riots a couple years back. They can rally to an area with no police, do their descruction or violence, and then disperse into the night before enough police can arrive to stop them. Expect to see this more often as our own “urban youths” discover the power of this new tactic.

More Van Jones: A Reverend Wright moment?

Thanks to the work done by Jim Hoft at (Gateway Pundit) , an (an army of Davids) has begun scouring the Internet to find more about Barack Obama adviser Van Jones and his bent towards 9/11 Trutherism. Hot Air reader Geoff A digs out (this nugget) from 2002 at the first anniversary of 9/11 in San Francisco, when Jones appeared at the Embarcadero for a protest. Here’s the description, which sounds familiar to anyone who followed the Obama presidential campaign (emphases mine):

DAN RIEHL ON THE SCHOOL-SPEECH CONTROVERSY: “That what once would have been a non-event is so incredibly controversial suggests to me that a great many Americans likely feel disconnected from the nation’s political affairs right now, as well as extremely concerned about what the future’s going to bring. The crisis Rahm suggested taking advantage of doesn’t just cut one way, after all.

I interviewed Corker last year.

Florida Exodus: Rising Taxes Drive Out Residents. “There are many things public officials probably shouldn’t do during a severe recession, but no one seems to have told the leaders in Florida about them. One thing, for instance, would be giving a dozen top aides hefty raises while urging a rise in property taxes, as the mayor of Miami-Dade County recently did. Or jacking up already exorbitant hurricane-insurance premiums, as Florida’s government-run property insurer just did. Or sending an army of highly paid lobbyists to push for a steep hike in electricity rates, as South Florida’s public utility is doing.”

The Occidental Obama - A Pawn In The Game

Van Jones, Valerie Jarrett, Barack Obama & do-it-yourself vetting Updated

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 3, 2009 11:24 PM

Scroll for updates…

Indefatigable blogger Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit dug up the 9/11 Truther record of Green Jobs czar Van Jones — and his research spread across talk radio, the Internet, and to the Glenn Beck show tonight. (Update: Hoft reports that Jones’s Truther proclivities were showing back in 2002).

A slew of bloggers, independent citizen journalists, and conservative activists have done the heavy lifting in exposing Jones’s inflammatory statements and radical ties over the last year — work that only conservative talk radio and Fox News have covered with due diligence. NakedEmperorNews/The BCast earlier today unearthed video of Jones ranting about Marxist “revolution” away from “gray capitalism”– also disseminated across Twitter, talk radio, and Fox News. The open-source “Army of Davids,” as blog pioneer Glenn Reynolds so aptly described it, is doing the job Obama didn’t want Congress to do.

Tonight, the White House is in full denial mode. ABC News reports:

A top environmental official of the Obama administration issued a statement Thursday apologizing for past incendiary statement and denying that he ever agreed with a 2004 petition on which his name appears, a petition calling for congressional hearings and an investigation by the New York Attorney General into “evidence that suggests high-level government officials may have deliberately allowed the September 11th attacks to occur.”

Van Jones, the Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, is Number 46 of the petitioners from the so-called “Truther” movement which suggests that people in the administration of President George W. Bush “may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war.”

In a statement issued Thursday evening Jones said of “the petition that was circulated today, I do not agree with this statement and it certainly does not reflect my views now or ever.”

He did not explain how his name came to be on the petition.

Maybe a unicorn, Van’s favorite mythical creature, put it there?

Allahpundit writes, “Note well: He doesn’t deny that he signed it. He denies that he agrees with it. Which means, I guess, that he’s asking us to create a new standard for public officials by which documents that bear their signature should no longer be used against them.”

And the Washington Times reports that the Truthers assert that no one’s name was put on their conspiratorial petition without his/her permission.

Here is the key — and it is highlights a leitmotif that runs through my czar, cabinet, and nominee withdrawal chapters of Culture of Corruption: Obama czardom is the deliberate end-run around transparency. Van Jones did not just accidentally slip through the cracks of the Obama vetters. They knew what he espoused before they installed him.

Take it from Obama’s own political godmother Michelle and Barack’s consigliere and Chicago powerbroker Valerie Jarrett took full credit at the nuttroots dKos blogger conference last month (August 15, 2009) for recruiting him and closely following his career:

JARRETT:. You guys know Van Jones? [Applause. Moderator injects: "This is his house apparently."]

JARRETT: Oooh. Van Jones, alright! So, Van Jones. We were so delighted to be able to recruit him into the White House. We were watching him, uh, really, he’s not that old, for as long as he’s been active out in Oakland. And all the creative ideas he has. And so now, we have captured that. And we have all that energy in the White House.

Jarrett, as I pointed out on Sean Hannity’s radio show five weeks ago, is the self-proclaimed keeper of Obama’s urban/racial “authenticity.” The Obamas don’t make a move without her, according to their closest friends and allies. Jarrett’s praise for Jones’s Oakland activism is explicit endorsement of his race-baiting career at Ella Baker, funded by the Soros-supported Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights/Ford Foundation/Rockefeller Foundation, and his Free Mumia agitation in the Bay Area schools — where he lambasted moderate civil rights leaders for objecting to politicizing the classrooms and where his pro-Mumia allies likened supporters of murdered police officer Daniel Faulkner to the KKK.

But as I noted five weeks ago, the elites in the MSM are too busy penning 8,100-word love letters to Valerie Jarrett and her fashion sense to question her judgement, her crony deals, and power grabs in her role as the “eyes and ears” for the Obamas.

It’s the same blind and deaf media treatment they are giving Michelle Obama, John Holdren, David Axelrod, Carol Browner, Nancy DeParle, Adolfo Carrion, and

Nature, thankfully, abhors a vacuum. And so does the information-hungry public.

The Obama vetters have succeeded in short-circuiting congressional scrutiny and Washington oversight of unaccountable appointees over the last six months. No more. Quis custodes ipsos custodiet? Who is watching the watchdogs? John Q. Public. Do-it-yourself vetting is as easy as a Google search.

A quick rummaging will show you, for example, that Jones’s immediate boss at the Council on Enviromental Quality, Nancy Sutley, was a special assistant to document-destroying Clintonite Carol Browner — whom Mark Levin’s Landmark Legal Foundation nailed for deleting files in defiance of court orders. Browner’s EPA was held in contempt of court for the systematic file destruction. The socialist-tied bureaucrat is now Obama’s energy czar.

Throughout the Culture of Corruption book tour, I’ve repeated two simple mantras:

Knowledge is power.

Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

Spread it. It’s working.

***

Update: White House spokesman Robert Gibbs tries to put out the fire. Jones is still working for the administration, but Gibbs says 9/11 Trutherism is not something the president agrees with. Try to square that circle.

Are Democrats Terrified Yet?

I don't think most Democrats realize what a bad place they are in right now. There is still over a year before the mid-term elections, but unless there is a significant change in direction they are going straight over the cliff. I'm not saying that. Charlie Cook is. In somewhat different words.

Listening to two briefings -- one by a Democratic pollster who had just conducted a survey for a group favoring health care reform, the other by a Republican pollster more skeptical of the reform plans -- I felt as if I were hearing a pair of reports by the National Transportation Safety Board on the same plane crash. But in sorting through the problems facing President Obama and congressional Democrats, focusing too narrowly on their disastrous handling of health care would be a mistake...

...With 14 months to go before the 2010 midterm election, something could happen to improve the outlook for Democrats. However, wave elections, more often than not, start just like this: The president's ratings plummet; his party loses its advantage on the generic congressional ballot test; the intensity of opposition-party voters skyrockets; his own party's voters become complacent or even depressed; and independent voters move lopsidedly away. These were the early-warning signs of past wave elections. Seeing them now should terrify Democrats.

"Terrify." I didn't say it. Charlie Cook did. I really don't think Democrats are fully feeling it yet though. I think they are in shock and denial. And they are so far to the left that I don't know if they are going to be able to move fast enough to the center to save their backsides. Obama has time, but all those congressmen and women facing voters next year are going to have to seriously boogie to get there.

THOUSANDS SHOWED UP for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ Town Hall in Tucson.

The auditorium at Sahuaro High School in Tucson quickly filled its 1500 person capacity, and the 1000 or more seats outside easily filled as well. It is easily possible that 3000-4000 people tried to attend Rep. Giffords’ townhall but could not make it inside. Even though the event started at 6 pm, people started lining up at 2!

It was obvious to anyone in attendance that 2/3 to 3/4 of the people there were against the public option. In fact, when one man who was able to speak into the microphone suggested that we throw all the bums out of Congress, nearly 90% of the people in the auditorium gave him a standing, shouting ovation that lasted nearly two minutes.

Hard liberals

In addition to a fair summary of British conservatism (to be found at the link), Peter Hitchens offers a few concise - and cutting - observations about a bit of the political spectrum I recognize. This by way of a rejoinder to a conversation with Mehdi Hasan about institutional bias at the BBC; Hasan labours under the impression the BBC is a right wing outfit. Bless.

I am excerpting a long quote for the benefit of Canadian Flea-readers. We too know peope who confuse conservatism with the Conservative party or, worse yet, confuse loyalty to party with loyalty to civilization (I would say "loyalty to country" but this is Canada I am talking about).

Mr Hasan seems to think that I have personally invented the conservatism I espouse, and it is a quirky, random collection of views which appear contradictory to him. Let me assure him that I am simply the inheritor and continuer of a tradition much older than I, which is only proper for a conservative. Mr Hasan also, for some reason inaccessible to me, thinks the Conservative Party embodies conservatism, thinks that conservatism consists of support for free markets, or for the Iraq war, or a general liking for the United States. In fact some of these positions are those of classical liberalism, while others are those of 'Neo-Conservatism', a tendency more attractive to disappointed Marxists, in search of a new Utopia, and to ultra-liberal globalists, than to conservatives. Many, if not all, neo-conservatives are cultural and moral and social radicals, and economic ultra-liberals. Some of these positions are common to both these views. None of them is conservative.

He is also, I think, confused by the fact that the BBC, which was generally sympathetic to the Blair government because of its cultural leftism, could never really cope with that government's globalist decision to go to war in Iraq. Sentimental Leftists, whose politics are really a series of displaced religious opinions, often misunderstand, and lag behind, the vanguard of their cause. Only the sharper and smarter ones, the 'hard liberals', recognise that their aims may be served by bombing a few cities. The Tory Party had a parallel problem. Having sold Britain to the EU and being secretly ashamed of it, it now strives to look ultra-patriotic on every possible occasion by banging the drum for war and supporting 'our boys', though it overcame this when we surrendered to the IRA in Northern Ireland, the last actual national conflict in which our armed forces were deployed in British, rather than globalist interests. The neo-conservative liberals, whose reasons for backing these wars are entirely different, thus have an easier time with their backbenchers than do Labour. Sentimental Tory MPs back wars they should oppose. Sentimental Labour MPs oppose wars they ought to support.

Not just bombing cities, either. We have a profound appreciation for marketing. Fair dues about the ex-Marxism, btw; though as part of a Lacanian psychoanalytic tendency I was too hip to have ever been considered reliable.

And we do have a new revolutionary Utopia. It is called the United States of America.

Sing It... Van Jones Cut Nasty Hate-Filled Music Album, Too! (Video)

Unbelievable!
Barack Obama's wacky communist-Truther Green Czar who hated Bush, whitey and capitalism also spent some time in the music studio. While he was director of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights Van Jones cut a vile CD against whites, the government, Israel, The Man, oil companies, and everything else American.
Van Jones was even featured in the recording!

** Verum Serum discovered this and has much more on Van Jones the record producer:
Here are a few of the lines from hate-filled anti-white, anti-American, anti-Israeli recording by Van Jones and the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights:

Various Singers-Poets: The American way, manufactuered by these white folks in office. By these rich men here to mock us. The United States is a stolen land led by right-wing, war hungry, oil thirsty. And when it's all said and done they still can't clean their own place because they got people of color playing servant to do that sh*t for them... The true terrorists are made in the US, in this police state... The US is a crack-fiend for oil. And they're ready to rape, kill, assault, rob anybody and everybody...

Bombing babies in the night. Two wrongs don't make a right... The US needs to exit its colonies in Iraq, in the region and finally in Israel.

Van Jones: At this point. The end of the occupation. The right of return of the Palestinian people. These are critical dividing lines in human rights. We have to be here. No American would put up with an Israeli-style occupation of their hometown for 53 days let alone 54 years. US tax dollars are funding violence against people of color inside the US borders and outside the US borders.

EXCERT:

Then from the point of view of scientific revolutionary technic what would the problems be? They set themselves down in sequence as follows:

The first, naturally, would be to capture the seat of government.

The second would be to seize economic power.

The third would be to mobilize by propaganda the forces of hatred.

The fourth would he to reconcile and then attach to the revolution the two great classes whose adherence is indispensable but whose interests are economically antagonistic, namely, the industrial wage earners and the farmers, called in Europe workers and peasants.

The fifth would be what to do with business whether to liquidate or shackle it......

IT CONTINUES for several more points, and then spends several pages describing each. And is ALL very relevent today.

obama's September Swan Song For America?

Behind the tumult of ObamaCare and attempts to hold America’s children hostage to indoctrination at their first day back at school this year, history is being rewritten by Barack Hussein Obama and his Shadow Government of Czars.

Will historians someday record September 2009 as “September’s Swan Song for America”?

America and Free World patriots: This is what Obama and His Shadow Government have lined up for you:

Timeline:

Sept. 8: Back to School when tens of millions of children from pre-kindergarten and up will see pictures, not of Presidents Washington and Jefferson but ones of an anti-American, whose own school records are sealed off from public view.

Sept. 11: The Shadow Government’s newly-named 9/11 anniversary “Patriot Day”, when Obama’s Organizing for America (“I’m asking you to believe. Not just in my ability to bring about real change in Washington…I’m asking you to believe in yours”) and “all 50 States” are coordinating this: “As we fight back against our own Right-Wing Domestic Terrorists who are subverting the American Democratic Process, whipped to a frenzy by their Fox Propaganda Network ceaselessly re-seizing power for their treacherous leaders.” That’s right, Dems will be dialing for dollars with two phone calls each during this year’s 9/11 Memorial.

Sept. 20: “The People’s Republic of China is celebrating 60 years of hard core communism…by raising the flag of that communist country on the south lawn of the White House on September 20.” (jbs.org, Sept. 3, 2009). “While the flags of many nations are flown at the White House when dignitaries of those countries visit, this seems to be the first time a foreign nation’s flag will be hoisted to celebrate that country’s founding, communist or not.”

Sept. 25: 50,000 worshipers are anticipated to celebrate Jummah prayer on Capitol Hill.

Is MA Storm Trooper bill a Test Case for Obama Takeover?

Massachusetts’ ‘Pandemic Act of 2009’ (st02028) is making its way through that state’s legislature. Contained in the bill are stipulations that can truly be described as draconian and Orwellian—two descriptive words that apply more and more each and every day to those administrators of ObamaLand. For our leftist ‘friends’: Don’t think so? Well…let’s take a look, shall we?

Line 84 jumps right in to “restrict or prohibit the assemblages of persons.” No more constitutionally protected right to assemble, kids. On lines 217-228 of Massachusetts’ Pandemic [and Subjugation] Act of 2009, references which pertain to authorities learning of a case of “a reported disease or health condition—or suspicious event [wonder what that is?]—advise that he or she shall immediately notify the State Police.“ Hmmm.

Obama’s Friends ‘Out’ the Death Panels

The president and his media enablers are outraged, just outraged, that anyone would suggest the prospect of, let alone come up with a name for, government panels designed to ration care for the elderly — and as the president said, “pull the plug on grandma.”

This is why so many doofus talking-heads (and even a few folks here) are trying to claim the euphemism Death Panels is, to put it as Scarborough did, "... a bald-faced lie." No, it isn't -- a group of appointed persons (panel) will determine who shall receive treatment, medicine, procedure and who shall not, those who are denied die where they may well have survived had they received the care (death).

It isn't about "pulling the plug on grandma" -- it is more akin to not putting in the plug in the first place.

Overcoming ‘Remote-Control’ Government

There’s a shell game in government that makes it nearly impossible for you and I to stop the runaway spending. Worse, it’s designed to get you to focus on a seemingly insoluble problem far away, while the real solution lies just down the street, practically in your own backyard.

Let me use the concrete example of Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, to show how this masterful diversion plays out. I’m sure it works much the same where you live. [Disclosure: I'm currently running for Lehigh County executive, which is why I'm learning about this.]

How they avoid tar and feathers

Three-quarters of the Lehigh County budget ($305 million) is “pass-through” money that comes from the state and federal governments. We send our money to Gov. Ed Rendell. He launders it, it shrinks, and then he sends it back to us with careful instructions on how we may use it. There are 67 counties in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that operate by the same principle. Multiply that by 3,141 counties (or parishes, etc.) nationwide and you get a sense of the scope and impact....

Jeremiah Wright behind a White House desk

The key point about the Van Jones affair is what it tells us about Barack Obama. Jones isn't someone who slipped through the cracks of the vetting process. We know this because, as Scott pointed out earlier today, top Obama aide Valerie Jarrett has said, "So, Van Jones, we were so delighted to be able to recruit him into the White House; we were watching him. . .for as long as he's been active out in Oakland."

T. CODDINGTON VAN VOORHEES VII: An Ill Wind is Breaking For Our President.

A LOOK AT THE AUGUST UNEMPLOYMENT DATA. Note how badly wrong the White House’s pre-stimulus projections were. Remember this when you hear their healthcare projections . . . .

augustunempdata

Related: Why there are no new jobs. “If the president and his advisers think we can have a recovery while they attack the private sector and seek a vast expansion of government, they are in for a rude awakening. It turns out we need those private-sector employers. Who knew?” Well, some of us did. . .

TEENAGE UNEMPLOYMENT at a record high. “According to today’s job report, the overall unemployment rate (the percentage of people in the labor force not working but looking for work) in August rose to 9.7 percent, its highest level in 26 years. The teenage unemployment rate, however, is at 25.5 percent, its highest level since the Bureau of Labor Statistics began keeping track of such data in 1948.”

UPDATE: Rand Simberg writes: “I’m sure it’s just coincidence that this happened right after Congress jacked up the minimum wage in the middle of a deep recession. This was the kind of thing that FDR did that made the Great Depression great.”

Constituent Lectures Congressman On Executive Power.

NETWORKS NOT EXCITED ABOUT CARRYING OBAMA HEALTH SPEECH. “After a brief honeymoon after Obama’s January inauguration, the broadcast networks have become increasingly frustrated by the frequency of his requests for primetime coverage. The pre-emptions wreak havoc on the networks’ schedules and cost millions of dollars in lost ad revenue.”

UPDATE: Has Obama Run Out of Gas on Health Care?

ANOTHER UPDATE: It’s all about racism! [Later: Sorry, I meant raaaaacism.]

MORE: Charles Krauthammer: “What happened to President Obama? His wax wings having melted, he is the man who fell to earth. . . . For a man who only recently bred a cult, ordinariness is a great burden, and for his acolytes, a crushing disappointment. Obama has become a politician like others. And like other flailing presidents, he will try to salvage a cherished reform — and his own standing — with yet another prime-time speech.”

Obama’s ‘Urban Czar’ Got Kickbacks?

September 5th, 2009

[Note: this is a reprise of an article we posted back on March 1, 2009. For it seems relevant to repost, with the current interest in some quarters about the curriculum vitæ of Mr. Obama’s numerous czars.]

Some pretty impressive investigative journalism from (of all places) the New York Daily News:

Bronx Boro President Adolfo Carrion on the roof of the Bronx Courthouse with the old and the new Yankee Stadium behind him.

Buildings sprang up as donations rained down on Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion

By Benjamin Lesser and Greg B. Smith
Sunday, March 1st 2009

The man who is President Obama’s newly minted urban czar pocketed thousands of dollars in campaign cash from city developers whose projects he approved or funded with taxpayers’ money, a Daily News probe found.

Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion often received contributions just before or after he sponsored money for projects or approved important zoning changes, records show.

Most donations were organized and well-timed.

In one case, a developer became a Carrion fund-raiser two months before the borough president signed off on his project, raising more than $6,000 in campaign cash.

In another, eight Boricua College officials came up with $8,000 on the same day for Carrion three weeks before the school filed plans to build a new tower. Carrion ultimately approved the project and sponsored millions in taxpayer funds for it.

Carrion resigned as borough president effective Sunday and begins his new job as director of the White House Office on Urban Policy Monday

Here’s a look at some of his donors:

TRI-LINE CONTRACTING

One of Carrion’s largest donors and fund-raisers is Jose Velazquez, owner of Tri-Line Contracting Inc. of Manhattan. Between his employees and developers and other donors, he has raised $83,700 for Carrion.

Tri-Line is working at two of the biggest developments Carrion has championed, including the new Yankee Stadium.

Carrion signed off on it in 2005 with the caveat that the Yanks hire a big percentage of local contractors and workers. One of the contractors was Tri-Line, which is building a conference center and museum in the stadium.

Velazquez said he raised money for Carrion because he supported him as a fellow Hispanic and felt that "this is the guy to lead this city." …

GATEWAY

Tri-Line is also building a Staples store in a new mall a block from the stadium called Gateway at Bronx Terminal Market. Velazquez said he got the job through competitive bidding.

Developer Related Companies’ subsidiary, BTM Development Partners, needed Carrion and the city Planning Commission to change zoning, modify height restrictions and approve permits for parking spaces.

As the project moved forward, the neighborhood railed about increased traffic and the impact the chain stores would have on local businesses. All the while Related executives wrote campaign checks to Carrion.

On March 10, 2005, five $1,000 donations from Related executives arrived. On June 20, 2005, the company notified the city it planned to build a  1 million-square-foot retail center with 2,610 parking spaces and a 250-room hotel.

On Oct. 19, 2005, Carrion approved the project, with his office monitoring local hiring. Since 2003, Carrion has received $39,100 from 24 Gateway-related donations

The Daily News cites four more very similar instances of what certainly appears to be “pay to play” kickbacks involving Mr. Carrion.

If true, this is pretty blatant corruption — even for a Democrat.

But, for some odd reason, this got very little attention from our watchdog media.

And, at least according to his entry at Wikipedia, Mr. Carrion has not lost his post as Mr. Obama’s ‘Urban Czar.’

Indeed, it is not even clear whether Mr. Carrion is still under investigation or not.

So there seems to have been no consequences whatsoever for Mr. Carrion’s past activities. In other times, this would be outrageous.

But not, alas, in the age of Obama.

NAACP Releases Statement In Support of Obama's Communist-Truther Green Czar... Blame Glenn Beck

Clearly this organization lost its way a long, long time ago...
The NAACP, a once great human rights group, released a statement today in support of Barack Obama's communist-Truther, whitey-hating, Jew-hating, cop killer supporting, Green czar in the White House.

Van Jones and killer Mumia al-Jamal released a hate-filled music album together.

Instead, the NAACP is blaming Glenn Beck.
NAACP Continues its Support of Special Advisor of Green Jobs Van Jones and the White House Green Jobs Initiative. The NAACP is calling for civility in the national discourse on safe, clean communities and sustainable sources of domestic energy. It is time to end the personal attacks on administration officials as a distraction to crucial discussion on our nation and our world's environmental conditions.

NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous:

“It is sad and unfortunate that our nation's precious airwaves and cable television time are being occupied with the unscrupulous, diversionary tactics launched by right wing extremists such as Glenn Beck. These desperate tactics divert America's attention and intellectual resources away from issues affecting our families and communities. These life-and-death concerns are being overshadowed by employing ruthless attacks against Van Jones, White House Special Advisor for Green Jobs and dedicated advocate for safe, clean and healthy communities.

Van Jones has established himself through his many years in public service as a hardworking advocate for positive, progressive change. He is a devoted husband and father. Mr. Beck and the other news services' portrayal of Mr. Jones to the contrary is not only distracting and disingenuous but harmful and destructive.
Apparently, pointing out Van Jones' own radical statements and support for communism is being "disingenuous" and "distracting."
Explain that one.

This morning's death threat

Islam, The Alleged Religion of Peace® ( TARP™ ) Alert...

18,000 AT CINCINNATI TEA PARTY EVENT:

It was festival-like atmosphere of patriotism, with food vendors, face-painting for kids and live music for crowd that Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones estimated topped out at 18,000.

People of all ages were wearing patriotic clothing in hues of red, white and blue, many carrying American flags and hand-made signs with myriad slogans.

Plus, an Austin Tea Party:

The debate over President Barack Obama’s healthcare reform plan spilled onto the south steps of the State Capitol Saturday afternoon.

Thousands of people from across Texas who don’t support the president’s plan rallied with signs as several guest speakers took the stage.

One was Steve Crowder of PJTV fame.

I LINKED THIS PIECE ON THE HEALTH CARE DEBATE YESTERDAY, but several readers liked this passage enough that it’s worth highlighting:

Les Bayless, the retired treasurer of Service Employees International Union 1199, blamed poor leadership within the union community for its troubles. “We need different leaders,” he said. Of the health care protesters, he said, “I think they are out there because of TARP [the $787 billion Troubled Assets Relief Program passed by Congress]. TARP p*** me off, too. We let them own that issue.”

The group collectively lamented that the Right discovered Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals.” “It’s kind of scary! They have learned all of the tricks,” said Sue Esty, the assistant director of American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees Maryland.

Scary, indeed. Meanwhile, people on the right are finding the opposition pathetic rather than scary.

INSTAPUNDIT, JULY 23, 2008: “He’s not running for President of the United States. He’s running for President of Earth.”

Sept. 5, 2009: “On September 24, the president will take the unprecedented step of presiding over a meeting of the UN Security Council.”

THE DEFICITS ARE COMING:

Mr. Walker’s own speeches are vivid and clear. “We have four deficits: a budget deficit, a savings deficit, a value-of-the-dollar deficit and a leadership deficit,” he tells one group. “We are treating the symptoms of those deficits, but not the disease.”

Mr. Walker identifies the disease as having a basic cause: “Washington is totally out of touch and out of control,” he sighs. “There is political courage there, but there is far more political careerism and people dodging real solutions.” He identifies entrenched incumbency as a real obstacle to change. “Members of Congress ensure they have gerrymandered seats where they pick the voters rather than the voters picking them and then they pass out money to special interests who then make sure they have so much money that no one can easily challenge them,” he laments. He believes gerrymandering should be curbed and term limits imposed if for no other reason than to inject some new blood into the system. On campaign finance, he supports a narrow constitutional amendment that would bar congressional candidates from accepting contributions from people who can’t vote for them: “If people can’t vote in a district not their own, should we allow them to spend unlimited money on behalf of someone across the country?”

Read the whole thing.

MITCH DANIELS: The Coming Reset In State Government: My fellow governors and I are likely facing a permanent reduction in tax revenues. “State government finances are a wreck...

A PATTERN OF INCOMPETENCE? “Who could have warned us that a man who served seven years in the state legislature and three years in the Senate would not have been prepared for the toughest executive position in the Free World? We did. Repeatedly. So did John McCain, and for that matter, so did Hillary Clinton.” Expect this to play out in thumbsucker columns on whether America is “ungovernable.”

Maybe the advice he’s getting from Jack Webb will help. “Don’t try to build a new country. Make the old one work.”

And this is just fun. Which led me to this.

UPDATE: Reader Michael Harlow writes: “If America is ungovernable, then that would be a reason to have less of government, right?”

You’d think, but I can pretty much promise that it won’t be spun that way.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Charles Austin emails:

Reading the post on incompetence, I began to wonder if part of the problem is that the political class believes it can do absolutely anything because America is just too big to fail. Republican, Democrat, doesn’t matter. They seem to think they can spend, tax, regulate, and social engineer to their hearts content because their actions can’t bring us down, no matter what. Gee, I find myself in the unenviable position of hoping they are right.

FWIW, the last several administrations and Congresses have been nothing more than walking, talking, spending advertisements for smaller, limited government. Oh well.

Nothing is too big to fail.

U.N. declares Castro a “World Hero of Solidarity”

September 5, 2009 01:33 PM by Michelle Malkin

Yes, it’s true.

The United Nations has declared misery-inducing, freedom-strangling Cuban dictator Fidel Castro a “World Hero of Solidarity.”

Via David Kopel at Volokh Conspiracy, h/t Hans Bader at OpenMarket.org, who writes:98 Comments

"Isn’t it time to tell the UN to find another home? To think about the money the taxpayers of the US have paid to the UN, only to have it go to Sexual Molestations of the downtrodden around the globe. Enough! I’ve been to Cuba and spent 5 weeks there in 1991. Those people want freedom but they can’t express themselves. if they do, they are sent to prison. I guess Obama is about to ignore our constitution and try the same thing here. Actions speak louder than words and Obama’s action against the Honduran Constitution and Supreme Court scares the hell out of me. Seems to me with the radicals he has surrounded himself with he’s trying to do the sae thing here. Banks, autos, health and home and the media is next!"

GREEN CZAR VAN JONES RESIGNS!... Communist Leaves White House

** BARACK OBAMA'S COMMUNIST-TRUTHER GREEN JOBS CZAR RESIGNS! **
Will The New York Times finally report on this story now?...
Or, will they ignore this too?

Barack Obama's communist-Truther Green Czar resigned late last night.
Let the biased headlines begin--
NBC says its the GOP's fault!

Kristinn found another report of Van Jones bashing cops to their faces.

World Net Daily has a report.

Oh Brother... Van Jones plays innocent victim in his resignation statement:
The Washington Post reported:

"On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me," Jones, special adviser for green jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, said in a statement announcing his resignation just after midnight Saturday. "They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide."

He continued: "I have been inundated with calls -- from across the political spectrum -- urging me to 'stay and fight.' But I came here to fight for others, not for myself. I cannot in good conscience ask my colleagues to expend precious time and energy defending or explaining my past. We need all hands on deck, fighting for the future."
Good-bye, victim.
Don't let the White House door hit your communist butt on the way out.

Funny... It wasn't that long ago that Van Jones was bashing Rumsfeld for resigning.

... let me tell you my story as briefly as I can.

Back when Hillary looked like the front runner, I stated loudly and publicly on the forums I inhabit that I would stay home rather than vote for McCain ( who I dubbed Capn' Queeg ) or any of those other tired, old Republican retreads.

Then Obama came along, and he sounded- at first-- not alarming.

But when I saw the eerie, quasi- religious fanaticism of his supporters, I started getting worried- they were kooks.

So, I decided to hold my nose and vote for The Capn' regardless, but I did not like it a bit-- it felt like BobDole! BobDole! All over again.

Now Miss Emily and I have been married almost 25 years, and in all that time I have never been able to get her to vote, protest, or show any interest in politics- she was a Goldwater Girl ( the real thing, not the phony Hillary type ) who turned into a Democrat after college at a liberal arts school, and becoming a union member.

When Sarah was introduced, she actually stood up, and yelled “I want to vote for that woman!” ( And for what little it's worth, I'd been aware of Sarah for some time, and hoped against hope she'd get the VP nomination )

And she campaigned tirelessly for her, and that, err, the white-haired guy...

And threw up all night after it became apparent that the Kenyan/Indonesian/Whateverian Usurper had it in the bag.

I don't know if it's enough to win an election, but there is a base of people like my wife- atypical, drawn to a new face with basically good ideas, who isn't part of that ghastly beltway Good Old Boy network of power-happy thieves.

The most tone-deaf president in our history is not done committing political suicide:

Obama’s UN Gambit: King of the Universe and the Polls

Looking for a quick and easy boost in the polls, President Obama has decided to go to the one place where merit bears no relationship to adulation: the United Nations. On September 24, the president will take the unprecedented step of presiding over a meeting of the UN Security Council.

No American president has ever attempted to acquire the image of King of the Universe by officiating at a meeting of the UN’s highest body. But Obama apparently believes that being flanked by council-member heads of state like Col. Moammar Qaddafi--who is expected to be seated five seats to Obama’s right--will cast a sufficiently blinding spell on the American taxpayer that the perilous state of the nation’s economy, the health-care fiasco, and a summer of “post-racial” scapegoating will pale by comparison.

The revolt against the elite

Obama May Actually Save Our Nation

You can't dismiss a man who has put this country into debt so deep, we may never recover unless, all his programs for welfare for the UNIONS and stealth reparations for "his people" are repealed; that the unused bail out monies are returned to the 'people' i.e., the treasury and NEVER again can anyone who has ever cheated on their taxes be allowed to run for office; crooks in office now with their powerful fiefdoms, be removed if they have served for 12 years. Clean out the 'rats' on both sides.

We can return America to her roots but it means we observe our Constitutional laws, no one is above those laws.

"Can't say we weren't warned. "commander zero" was out in the open about it, said he was going to "fundamentally change" and "remake" America. "

Yep. He came right out and said "we lived in the greatest country in the world" and he was going to change it.

He didn't say we lived in the crappiest country in the world, and he was going to fix it.

Walking Our Way Out of Recession

I was gone to MN for three weeks (kayaking/camping) and on my drive home, there were seven small shops closed with “for sale” signs in front of their shops for the 15 or so miles from the State line to my house. I later learned that the banks have been calling in their loans on businesses. My auto repair shop also closed because the bank called in its loan.

Obama’s Green Job’s Czar Resigns, Glenn Beck Leader of Republican Party.

The Repubican party is a whore that Conservatives married... and she keeps on sleeping with our enemies... every election she tells us how much she loves us but as soon as her people are reelected, she is off to the pub to drink and sleep with the enemy... so if the repubic party of which I no longer belong... after 37 years of faithful support... wants me to dance with her once again... she is going to have to have her "Come to JESUS" moment and change from the bottom up.

Want my vote... give me a true Conservative... one that loves America... to vote for... not a gaylord like light-foot lyndsey or a whores (yes I call them whores because they sell themselves and their souls for power) like snowe or collins.

MICKEY KAUS on the Van Jones resignation. “I’ve been waiting for the day when a prominent pol resigns and for print MSM readers it appears to be out-of-the-blue, though everyone on the Web knows the whole story.”

Scott Johnson: “Jones was also a perfect symbol of the dereliction of the mainstream media in the Age of Obama. Those who rely on the New York Times for their news, for example, will learn of Jones’s departure some time soon, but it will come as a great surprise to them, and well after the shouting is over. Whatever Jones said is already heard indistinctly, like a distant echo, in the Times’s lame overnight report. Byron York’s tabulation of words devoted to the recent revelations about Jones in the mainstream media as of Friday and Saturday provided a notable marker.”

VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: “I fear that this is the most polarizing administration we have seen in matters of race since the 1920s.”

The resignation (and coming MSM/left-wing martyrdom) of Van Jones; Obama “thanks him for his service”

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 6, 2009 08:47 AM

Scroll down for updates…

Bay Area Marxist/Truther/Mumia-supporting race hustler-turned-environmental justice guru Van Jones has resigned from his post as Barack Obama’s green jobs czar.

In classic Team Obama style, Jones blames an orchestrated “campaign” of “lies and distortions to distract and divide.” Get ready for the coming media/left-wing martyrdom of Jones. Never mind his own apologies and weasel excuses for his radical views.

The mainstream media, which has ignored criticism and investigative analysis of Jones in the blogosphere/Internet since the spring (see, for example, here, here, here, here) repeats the lie that Fox News Channel’s Glenn Beck targeted Jones only after the czar’s organization, Color of Change, initiated a boycott against Beck at the beginning of August:

Instead of compensating for their willful failure to cover Jones’s radicalism by informing their readers about the full story, Obama water-carriers are helping the administration with its own campaign of distortion.

The story is not just about Beck or Fox or us racist conservatives martyring Van Jones.

The story is not just about Jones.

The story is about Adolfo Carrion, Carol Browner, Vivek Kundra, Nancy DeParle, John Holdren, Cass Sunstein, Mark Lloyd, Obama’s education comrades, and the culture of circumvention and corruption that plagues this White House.

The story is the czar explosion, purposeful undermining of congressional oversight, Valerie Jarrett’s promotion of a two-bit Jeremiah Wright in eco-guru’s clothing, and the public vetting of unaccountable Obama appointees that Washington won’t do.

They don’t get it. They’re in the tank. Behind the curve. And slouching towards irrelevance.

Republicans in Washington were bringing up the rear. This was no victory for them.

comments (111)

"Each week reveals the truth about the Obama Administration’s mission and beliefs…like peeling layers of a rotten onion. I am numb to surprise in the details, but that doesn’t mean I won’t fight this at the voting booth. No matter the controversy, it will be “racist.” That word is what this administration hides behind and throws in the face of any argument "

Van Jones resignation and the inevitable race card [Darleen Click]

Yep, President Obama has surely ushered in an era of post racialism

Michelle Malkin has a link-rich roundup of the distortions and lies the Legacy Media, aka Democrat PR Media, are pushing in the Van Jones “resignation” meme.

9/10er, Charles Johnson backpedals on his support of Van Jones on the front page but falls in line with the “lynch mob” Leftist mendacity in the comments [h/t Pablo] (and engages in disingenuous moral equivalency as added stooooopity.)

But it can’t be Van Jones’ fault that he’s a Marxist, vulgar, cop-killer-supporting Truther! No, no, it’s Glenn Beck’s fault! And the GOP!!! Van Jones was scalped I tell you!

There’s even the claim this was because of poor vetting by the Obama administration. What, Valerie Jarrett doesn’t know how to use Google? Please, what you have here is that Van Jones, with his background as a radical activist, was acceptable to be an Obama czar. Because this isn’t just a one time fluke, considering Dr. “Complete Life System” Zeke Emanuel and “People are a plague” John Holdren.

Obama ran on a platform of “Transforming America” and people are realizing he was serious and they are not happy with what “transform” means when translated from ObamaSpeak.

Leftists aren’t happy that their goals for a militarily-neutered, Euro-statist-economy, post-Western-culture America isn’t being readily achieved. And they will use the race-card at each and every pushback in a naked attempt to guilt people into shutting up.

Schmucks.

Oh, btw, if you think Obama’s driving need to never be out of the news-cycle, even if it means doing an unprecedented, nationwide address to K-6th graders is, well, a little creepy, then you must be a racist.

Olby to the Kos Kids: Send Me Every Rumor or Slander You Have on Glenn Beck

—Ace

We'll show those McCarthyites what real McCarthyism is.

This is the finger I troll for dirt with!

Incidentally, he keeps spelling "oligarchy" wrong to make fun of Glenn Beck, who attempted to create an acronym out of "oligarchy" but didn't include a word for the "c." Honestly, it's my guess that word was "communist" but he abandoned it before going live. Nope: Commenters tell me the word was "czar," and further tell me he deliberately omitted it to "set up" his liberal critics. I don't get that last bit myself, but that's what I'm told.

You know the persnickety dick who catches you in a typo in an online spat and then won't shut up about it for six weeks? Yeah.

So, Olby's trolling for "news" from the Daily Kos.

But he's, like, a journalist and stuff.

Thanks to Morgen of Verum Serum.

Irony: Although the supposed prompt for this is Glenn Beck's call for information about Cass Sunstein, I think it's pretty clear that he's reacting to the smear campaign (ahem) which resulted in the lynching (ahem) of Van Jones.

The irony here is that Van Jones was drummed from his office because it is unacceptable in American politics to be a Truther. It is considered too embarrassing and too nutty and ruins one's political credibility.

And where does Olby go to seek his vengeance?

To the Daily Kos, which put up an announcement that no Truther statements or comments or petitions were permitted on the site, and would be deleted immediately, because Trutherism was too embarrassing and too nutty for the site's political credibility.

So, you know, Van Jones got pushed out of office by the same "McCarthyite tactics" that Kos employs to keep his site free of Trutherism.

What is creeping fascism when applied to a high government official is not, apparently, fascism, creeping or otherwise, when used against a common citizen of no public importance posting on a stupid blog.

4 Ooooh... We're soooo scared!!!!

Everything that Glenn Beck has ever done or said is or has been out there for quite a while, I'd bet. The salient point that the fools on the left fail to realize is that it isn't the messenger - it's the message. Aside from that, who the hell watches Keith Olbergruppenfuhrer anyway?

Truth will out.

British Daily Mail is reporting that three doctors were "paid by Libyan government to say Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Al Megrahi had three months to live":

What’s with this President, anyhow! Incompetent? Extremist? False G-d? Take your pick.

PowerLine has fits; we all should. “Remember how warmly Obama treated Gaddafi's pal Hugo Chavez. Maybe Obama, too, was taken aback by the fact that most Americans don't forget so easily when their countrymen are slaughtered by terrorists [the freed Lockerbie bomber]. As for Megrahi, one can only hope that the medical opinions that were bought [emphasis added; Libya paid the doctor, and England] by the Libyan government turn out to be accurate, and the son of a bitch dies. Soon.” Then, “Having watched the rise of Van Jones, why did Team Obama nonetheless "recruit" him into the White house? Because what Jones says and believes is well within the range of what Obama believes, and thus not jarrring to him and his crew….This, of course, is the Rev. Jeremiah Wright phenomenon all over again.”  Ed Morrissey and Mark Tapscott point out Obama’s pattern of incompetence. For example:

Van Jones finally resigns, saying “"They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide."  Heck, Jones, they’re your own extremist words that sunk you and you’re still spouting nonsense.

No American president has ever attempted to acquire the image of King of the Universe by officiating at a meeting of the UN’s highest body. But Obama apparently believes that being flanked by council-member heads of state like Col. Moammar Qaddafi — who is expected to be seated five seats to Obama’s right — will cast a sufficiently blinding spell on the American taxpayer that the perilous state of the nation’s economy, the health-care fiasco, and a summer of “post-racial” scapegoating will pale by comparison.

Er, okay. But the left is in power, and it's got Van Jones the Truther in the White House. Which isn't exactly the "fringe". More of a lunatic mainstream, isn't it? Which may be why The New York Times et al have decided there's no story.

Who’s says this loser is obsessed:

Send Me Everything You Can Find About Glenn Beck
by Keith Olbermann
Sun Sep 06, 2009 at 10:14:03 AM PDT

I don’t know why I’ve got this phrasing in my head, but: Find everything you can about Glenn Beck, Stu Burguiere, and Roger Ailes.

No, even now, I refuse to go all caps.

No, sending me links to the last two Countdowns with my own de-constructions of his biblical vision quality Communist/Fascist/Socialist/Zimbalist art at Rockefeller Center (where, curiously, he works, Comrade) doesn’t count. Nor does sending me links to specious inappropriate point-underscoring prove-you’re-innocent made-up rumors.

Tuesday we will expand this to the television audience and have a dedicated email address to accept leads, tips, contacts, on Beck, his radio producer Burguiere, and the chief of his tv enablers, Ailes (even though Ailes’ power was desperately undercut when he failed to pull off his phony “truce” push).

This becomes necessary after this in order to prove various cliches about goose and gander, and to remind everybody to walk softly and carry a big popsicle, and most particularly to save this nation from the Oligarhy of The Stupid. Read the rest of this entry »

Steyn lands one to the kisser of msm

It'll be in Bartlett's by next week   [Mark Steyn]

Speaking of The New York Times, Jonah, in my weekend column I noted my rare appearance in its august pages (well, okay, September pages):

Mark Steyn, a Canadian author and political commentator, speaking on the Rush Limbaugh show on Wednesday, accused Mr. Obama of trying to create a cult of personality, comparing him to Saddam Hussein and Kim Jong Il, the North Korean leader.

Tim Blair, the great Australian wag, has a round-up of those hardworking types at other publications whose concept of journalism begins and ends with seeing what's in The New York Times and passing it on. Tim missed a few, like The Sacramento Bee:

On Wednesday, Canadian-born writer Mark Steyn said on Rush Limbaugh's nationally broadcast radio show that Obama's ambitions to create a "cult of personality" were similar to those of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il or former Iraqi strongman Saddam Hussein.

And The Las Vegas Sun:

The New York Times quoted Mark Steyn, filling in for conservative radio demagogue Rush Limbaugh, as saying Obama was trying to create a cult of personality like Saddam Hussein or North Korea’s Kim Jong Il.

"Quoted", eh? Actually, if you read the Times piece - by two reporters, no less - the striking feature is that there's no direct quote, is there? Not to worry. It's even been picked up overseas. Lara Marlowe in Ireland's newspaper of record, The Irish Times:

First prize for lunacy goes to Canadian commentator Mark Steyn, who accuses Obama of trying to establish a “personality cult” like Saddam Hussein or North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.

And first prize for laziness goes to Irish commentator Lara Marlowe. For the record, here's the only thing I actually said about Kim and Saddam on Wednesday's Rush show:

Obviously were not talking about the cult of personality on the kind of Saddam Hussein/Kim Jong-Il scale.

It shouldn't be that difficult for Ms Marlowe and the stenographers of The Las Vegas Sun, Chicago Tibune et al. The Times helpfully enclosed a link to George Soros' website and the relevant bit of audio lasts all of 54 seconds, so it wouldn't cut unduly into Ms Marlowe's and Tim Wiegand's valuable time for original research.

As I understand it, what we're supposed to miss about US newspapers will be the "layers of fact-checking" and rigorous editing. In reality, a significant percentage of American newspapering is little more than provincial wannabes doing New York Times karaoke - which might have made more sense before young Sulzberger drove his paper to junk stock and into the arms of its unlikely Mexican benefactor. Meanwhile, tens of millions of real people hear Rush's show, but any similarity between the audio and the version that appears in the "newspaper of record" is entirely coincidental.

As for my former colleague in Dublin, too many overseas "bureaus" in Washington boil down to paying someone to relocate halfway round the world, sit in an office at the National Press Building and transcribe The New York Times and Wolf Blitzer's "Situation Room" all day long. An expensive business model.

Still, look on the bright side: My non-quote got more MSM coverage than Van Jones! Gotta know your priorities.

HOW DEMOCRACIES PERISH.
How Barack Obama Lost His Mojo.

MARK HEMINGWAY ON THE VAN JONES STORY: “Remember Chas Freeman? This is actually the second time an Obama appointee has been sunk due to a protracted controversy over past statements and the NYT didn’t write a single word about the controversy until after the fact.”

UPDATE: Well, according to Politico, Van Jones was pretty well connected: “Jones has deep ties to the current liberal elite: He was a top aide to Huffington Post founder Arianna Huffington’s 2003 campaign for governor of California, and Sunday won praise from, among others, former Vermont Governor Howard Dean.” So it makes sense they’d keep mum. Some news isn’t fit to print.

TOM MAGUIRE ON THE VAN JONES RESIGNATION: “The controversy has escalated for weeks, and his resignation finally forced the Times to cover it. Folks living in the Times bubble are possibly becoming accustomed to these moments of whiplash – the Times’ first coverage of the Eason Jordan [scandal] at CNN also came with his resignation.”

UPDATE: Vetting mysteries unsolved.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Vetting mysteries explained.

EUGENE VOLOKH: “Others have pointed out that having offices called ‘czars’ is an odd naming choice for a democracy. But czars weren’t just authoritarians. They were ultimately authoritarians who left their country far poorer than their more democratic counterparts, lost a world war, and of course paved the way for an even worse system of government. The label ‘czar’ thus doesn’t historically connect to a model of strongman effectiveness — it connects to a model of strongman failure.”

Van Jones resignation and the inevitable race card [Darleen Click] UPDATED and UPDATED again!

Schmucks.

*********************
Oh, btw, if you think Obama’s driving need to never be out of the news-cycle, even if it means doing an unprecedented, nationwide address to K-6th graders is, well, a little creepy, then you must be a racist.

UPDATE: Wow, here is some real classic Leftist projection

After a brief respite, the most accessible American political discourse has returned to fearful, hate-filled, ignorant rants of a high-volume, low-intellect minority? [...]

Too often, this White House has sent the signal that it seeks common ground and conciliation with parties interested in its total destruction. From my point of view, negotiating with ignorance, fear, hate and irrationality is insane. [...]

I realize I’m lumping a variety of “opposition” camps together: birthers, deathers, those who accuse the president of racism and those who accuse him of socialism. I’m grouping them because to me they all come from the same place. They’re engaging in a form of terrorism.

"Not yours to give:"

HISTORY:

“Where do you find in the Constitution any authority to give away the public money in charity?”

That question was asked not of President Obama nor of Sen. Max Baucus or Rep. Nancy Pelosi, but of the less well-known Tennessee congressman, David Crockett. . . . But back to our story, which comes from an 1884 biography, “The Life of Colonel David Crockett” by Edward S. Ellis, it is instructive to note the puzzlement of Rep. Crockett when he was challenged by his constituent Horatio Bunce while out stumping for votes. Bunce told Crockett in no uncertain terms that he could not vote for him again.

“You gave a vote last winter which shows that either you have not capacity to understand the Constitution, or that you are wanting in the honesty and firmness to be guided by it. In either case you are not the man to represent me,” Bunce said in the story, as allegedly recounted by Crockett.

By today’s mainstream-media standards, Bunce would clearly be known as a right-wing extremist, and if he expressed his concerns at a town-hall meeting this summer he would have been labeled “un-American.”

Even Crockett, before finding out what was on Bunce’s mind, said, “I had been making up my mind that he was one of those churlish fellows who care for nobody but themselves, and take bluntness for independence.”

But that was before the Tennessee farmer had asked his devastating question, which Crockett described colorfully as a ’sockdologer!” which roughly translated means a comment that could set a person to thinking.

Read the whole thing. More sockdologers, please. We clearly aren’t seeing enough thinking from Congress.

Hanoi Jane Fonda: Not Just a Commie But a Jew-Hater, Too

What is it with Leftist doctrine that makes these people both communists and Jew-haters?

Hanoi Jane supporting the North Vietnamese during the Vietnam War.

Sick. Jane Fonda and Danny Glover were out bashing the Jewish "propaganda machine" this past week and comparing Israel to the former apartheid government in South Africa.
The Jerusalem Post reported:

Some 50 celebrities, artists and filmmakers, including actors Jane Fonda and Danny Glover, musician David Byrne and filmmaker Ken Loach, have accused the Toronto International Film Festival of "complicity with the Israeli propaganda machine" over its spotlight this year on Tel Aviv.

The 2009 festival will present 10 films by local filmmakers on the Israeli metropolis, for its City to City program, which each year focuses its lens on a different city.

The choice led to protests that the film festival was "staging a propaganda campaign" on Israel's behalf, given "the absence of Palestinian filmmakers in the program," said an open letter to festival organizers, AFP reported.

The program "ignores the suffering of thousands of former residents and descendants of the Tel Aviv-Jaffa area who currently live in refugee camps in the Occupied Territories" after a "mass exiling of the Palestinian population" in 1948, according to the letter.

"Looking at modern, sophisticated Tel Aviv without also considering the city's past and the realities of Israeli occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, would be like rhapsodizing about the beauty and elegant lifestyles in white-only Cape Town or Johannesburg during apartheid without acknowledging the corresponding black townships of Khayelitsha and Soweto," AFP reported the letter as saying.
Jane Fonda better watch it.
If she keeps talking like this she's going to find herself working for Obama in the White House!

Couric should look in mirror

Now that White House "Green Jobs Czar" Van Jones has resigned, what's next?

Inevitably, the American mainstream media - ABC, NBC, CBS, the New York Times, the Washington Post, Time, Newsweek, et al - must be held to account for sitting on the sidelines as this major story kept building without them, went viral on YouTube, and then became so large that a key appointee of President Obama was forced to step down.

But with their decision to ignore the Jones story, they may have actually done Mr. Obama far more harm than good: Who vetted this guy? How did he get past the FBI?

Further, Google Japan/News will show that the Van Jones story is just starting to break hard and fast. Japanese media are slowly being forced into the position, many of them, to finally report for the first time in Japan to their readership, that Obama is actually losing considerable popularity, something that would surprise most Japanese readers as they have been force-fed Obama for the last six months, as if he were some kind of Messiah. It is just a few stories for now, but keep a watch on this link, they will no doubt grow. I am waiting for the conservative Sankei Shimbun; they would really have a field day over this. They have been the most aggressive in exposing Obama in the Japanese press.
