Just in. I am looking at a picture of the WTC with smoke pouring out of the western tower. Looks like a huge amount of damage. Debris raining down on people in the street.

Every year, I read this thread and I remember.
I will never forget.
The jedis and I took the cookies to the fire fighters down the street this morning, with a thank-you note, then I donated blood. Tonight we're going to a "Support the Troops" fundraiser.
This will never be just an ordinary day in the Jedi household again.

There is no forgetting.
Seeing those buildings fall and knowing there were people in there still, at the time I felt a cold rage in the pit of my stomach.
And I can still recall that feeling whenever I think about it.

Watching videos here at FR and on the tube bring back all the horror of that terrible and fearful day.
My eldest daughter called me shortly after the first plan crashed and asked me if she could come and spend time with me. She came straight away.
We went to the grocery store for a few supplies and to get some money out from the ATM.
She stayed close to me for several hours that day, but did go back to her job in the afternoon.
Never will we forget the sight of humans leaping from the burning World Trade Towers.

I was listening to 92.7 WRRV, and Boris mentioned that a plane had hit one of the towers.
So I wandered into the living room and turned on the news.
Turned the news on in time to watch the second plane hit the second tower.
Once the signal was lost, we went to a channel we could get signal on, and a couple hours later a news lady was quite shaken up and talking about how she and her crew abandoned a van near ground zero.
She mentioned that a severed hand had landed on the windshield of the van right after the second plane hit, and amid this chaos she said, that there were thousands of fluttering things.
She picked up a few of the 'papers' thathit the ground and they were pictures.
She turned one of the pics over and there were bits of skin and blood on the pics.
She showed some of the pics she picked up on the air.
I have not seen her on the news since.
She was extremely shaken up.
BTTT.... We will NOT forget
I was in my first month of teaching High School science. I heard about it from another teacher and saw it on the TV in his classroom just before the bell rang to start 2nd period. (I had prep first period, so no students).
None of the students in my 2nd period class had heard it yet, so I was the one to tell them. We watched TV the rest of the day through all my classes. I thought about how it was handled when I was in 2nd grade the day of the Challenger disaster. I told them that this was my generation's Challenger, or my parents' generation's JFK assassination. They would remember this moment for the rest of their lives.
