America Held Hostage- the Obama Files...

With a hattip to Rush ( His idea during the Clinton plague upon America ) I am starting a file on “The One,” mostly starting from the election date.

Older stuff- links, quotes, quips, and sometimes pointed graphics can be found by scrolling back from these two posts:

-Hillary Clinton- archives, comments, and opposition research--

-Sarah Palin- links, from the beginning--

There is some good material in those posts that raises a lot of uncomfortable questions that everyone ought to be asking, and probably will once the “new” wears off, and we are stuck with four ( more likely eight, since 95% of the news & entertainment media are in his pocket ) years of a typical corrupt Chicago Political Machine Politician trying to jerk the whole country in one direction and then the next.

You've all heard the saying,

”People get the kind of government they want...
...and deserve?”

Well, America, you are about to “get it, good & hard...”

Don't say you weren't warned- we tried to tell you...

We did everything we could, and our state went for the Old Guy & the Naughty Librarian, but too many other voters were made stupid by the TV and public schools for it to matter.

We're in a Hell of a mess, and the worst thing is, "we"- the collective we, not you & I-- got us here.

Is Obama really the Abyss...

staring back at us?

I like to make points with humorous graphics- this one sums it up as well as any:

Then, in a nutshell, "everything I see going bad with all this hopi- changi- stuff The One is peddling-- forced labor, censorship, spin, and pure mean-spirited rudness:

Email of the day

Atlas readers rock! I am blown away by the overwhelming response to this post  (and this one) to get involved to take back our country from the Soros, socialists, and the self proclaimed messiah - oy. More than one email brought a tear to my eye but I wanted to share this one with you.

If this best represents who we are, what we want and where we are going, there is no way we can lose. Greatness is in the house. I am proud to count you as my friends. Prouder still to stand with you and fight this great fight.

I want to lead a county.

I was born in Cuba, and know the language of Communism, Obama speaks it well.  My grandfather's family had to flee Lebanon because of the Muslims to Cuba. We fled Cuba because of Castro.

This is the best country in the whole wide world.  I was a child when I left Cuba with the clothe on my back, we left my parent's sister and I, left behind everything.

America is Worth fighting for and Freedom is worth defending.  I do not want my children to grow up in oppression, nor do I wish exile upon them.

Please allow me to help, again, Id like to lead a county.

My name is Ingrid and Im in Miami, in Miami Dade County

May the Light always shine upon America,

Ingrid

UPDATE: In case there was any doubt as to what the victorious zombies have in mind. Check out this comment (left in the comment section) . Can you say rude awakening?

You people are pathetic!

Your racist fear mongering will not go unchallenged!  Soon we will shut down your hate spewing web sites.  We will confiscate your firearms.  In prison, you will get an education on the error of your ways.  We will take your children and raise them as our own and instill in them the values of social justice.  We will have a new American Republic of justice and order for all!

You time is almost up!  Prepare for the dung heap of history!

It sounds insane (which it is) but I believe the writer is quite serious.

"We will confiscate your firearms. In prison, you will get an education on the error of your ways. We will take your children and raise them as our own and instill in them the values of social justice".....

Heh heh heh....I am sure you are serious, but that is funny!

Values of social justice....like Mao? Stalin? Lenin? Ho-chi Min? Pol Pot? Which of these butchers of social justice did you have in mind?"

170,000,000
That's the number of civilians that have been murdered by their own governments in the 20th century alone.

Innocents Betrayed is a must see video produced by Jews for the Preservation of Firearms (scroll down to see links to view the Introduction to Innocents Betrayed)

Now consider Obama's 'civilian defense force' which he intends to fund and equip as well as our standing military coupled with his promise to revisit the second amendment (repeal concealed carry privilege) and then compound this injury with Ayers' inspired youth corps.

CHANGE.GOV OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT ELECT (hat tip rut)

Obamessiah has a new site up as President-elect soliciting ideas form the proletariat.
Let's hope it doesn't become the hub for the hate whitey and Jew boy Obamavomit that his last site was.

Surf the site. Take note. Keep your eye on the The Obama National Service Plan- the page is empty (how apropos) but that piques my interest.

President Obama To Bring Back Slavery

Just in case anyone think Mr. Obama is not serious about this, bear in mind that his new Chief of Staff wrote a book demanding this very thing:

Amazon.com: The Plan: Big Ideas for America: Rahm Emanuel, Bruce Reed: Books
http://www.amazon.com/Plan-Big.....038;sr=1-1

Don’t forget they want a Gestapo/KKK civilian force the size of the pentagon to keep everybody inline and things running smoothly.

“Suddenly, all mention of “required” has been disappeared. ”

SOME THOUGHTS ON OBAMA'S mandatory volunteerism plan. Plus, reader Nancy Anne Potts writes:

Looks like the change.gov site is true to it's title - it changes!

During the time when I was looking at the blog you linked to concerned mandatory community service the change.gov page saying "require community service" changed to goal for community service. The new wording is:

"..... Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free."

I found the the cached page on Google it has the original "required" wording.

Looks like they caught their "mistake". Now will the real plan please step forward -- goal or required. (Although the way government sets goals, they often wind up looking like requirements so maybe the two aren't all that different.)

Ugh! I see card check made the economy page too. He may be the president elect but I don't have to like his plans!

Not until the second term. Then that will be made mandatory, too . . . .

Meanwhile, Robert Bidinotto comments: "Anyone recall what the Soviets used to do to history books?" The Obama folks have a history of airbrushing.

IF YOU VOTED FOR MCCAIN, you're a racist. Just in case nobody had bothered to tell you.

President-elect Barack Obama's First Press Conference - Complete Video 11/7/08

Obama Mocks Nancy Reagan in 1st Press Conference

It's  classless to mock a frail, elderly woman. (Note he was not kind in his revelation about his own "typical white person" grandmother, either.)

It's even worse to mock the widow of a great former president. Whatever you think of her, she deserves respect.

Especially classless was mocking Nancy Reagan on stage, before hundreds of reporters and television cameras, knowing the "joke" would be heard by millions. This wasn't some private remark that got picked up by a live mike.

On Concerns Over Gun Control, Gun Sales Are Up

From "Change.gov", the official transition website. Agenda tab and then select "urban policy" and go down to "Crime Control".

Address Gun Violence in Cities:
As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

There will be no one left to protect you
Barack Obama wants to institute a Civilian National Security Force, a vast militia not unlike Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, a personal army. He knows he would need such a force to protect him and to enforce his will on Americans. Americans will have not seen such arbitrary power used against them since the days of the Civil War when Lincoln put the Constitution in the bottom drawer of his desk and set about arresting anyone who opposed his policies...

Hmmmm... this one is very difficult. I was in the military, and we were taught we salute the uniform, not the man. So I respect the office, not the man. However, I am adopting a wait and see. If Obama governs as if he cares about America, even if we disagree, I can accept that. If Obama governs as I expect, like a Manchurian candidate who is bent on America’s deconstruction, that is when he will disqualify himself as being my president.

An array of other advocacy groups are stepping forward with their priorities for the new Congress.

Barack Obama: The Kingfish Reborn

Do Unto Obama As Liberals Did Unto Bush

Coal stocks plummet. Average 15%, many over 30% since Tuesday Gee, wonder why?

Kate, this is important and you should listen to it. It's about Obama's cult of personality and it is short.

From the blogs- and, always, read the Anchoress:

Bush, Obama, & Ghosts of Hate - UPDATED

“The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country.” Lincoln’s Second Annual Message to Congress, December 1, 1862.

I would love nothing better than to be able to stop writing about “left” and “right.” I wish we had a better vocabulary to describe our distinctions, because these words are limiting and off-putting. I am determined, with the merciful conclusion of this abusively long election season, to work diligently at spending less time entertaining these distinctions. But for today, I think it is only fair to note a very important and glaring difference between “left and right” - and in so doing - consider how we may, finally, stop needing to indulge in what is tedious.

Victor Davis Hanson
says Let’s not imitate the left in our opposition. I agree.

It has been wonderful - really beyond wonderful - to consider how differently most of the right has reacted to their defeat than the left did in 2000 and 2004. In the two previous elections, the left responded by calling the other half of the country “stupid,” “morons,” and “Nazis” - Jane Smiley called them “unteachably ignorant” - they indulged in high drama, sniffling “apologies” to the globe, and denunciations of their fellow countrymen as “lying between repugnant and reptile in the dictionary.”

And oh, yeah (eyeroll) George W. Bush was not “their” president.

While you’ll see a few disgruntled extremists on the right say foolish, even ignorant things - and many throwing daggers at the sickening double-standards of the press - they’re not indulging in that sort of dehumanizing (and very adolescent) hate of their fellow countrymen or the president-elect. The reports they’re filing read very differently than those following the Bush wins. They read as grown-up, tolerant, open-minded discourses, not tantrums. There is a willingness to be hopeful, even in defeat.

And there is a determined respectfulness being offered to the winners - people who could not manage maturity and respectfulness in their defeat and who, sadly, are not always managing it in their victory, either.

I’m hopeful that the left - if it takes the time to actually condescend to notice how well it is being treated by the vanquished - might consider that self-indulgent defamation is the lesser way; that such a consideration may inspire introspection, and perhaps the smallest bit of regret for some of their appalling excesses toward the right and toward the American President who did not return hate in-kind.

I’m hopeful. I’m an optimist. I KNOW that the folks on the right - for all of their faults, and both sides certainly have faults - want America to be successful and strong and exceptional and free. I’m hopeful that hugely empowered left will discover that - beyond the feel-goodism of “free social programs” which are never free -they actually, really do want all of those things, too. That they’ll look back on the last 8 years and realize, finally, that their enemy was never George W. Bush. Bush, the guy who never dehumanized them, was only trying serve those corny ideals.

And then, miraculously, we may actually have unity.

Some similar thinking from my girl crush, Donna Brazile:

“The one mistake that we continue to make is that we label people. We say you’re conservatives, liberal, progressive, right wing, left wing. I think people just want to spend one day being Americans. They want to come together around a common purpose, common values.”

I wondered the other day if the catharsis of this election might open up “a vein of generosity” (or at least decency) from the left as concerns President Bush. I have not seen it yet, but I’m going to be optimistic and keep looking.

But maybe it’s enough just to see a little appreciation from the right, to start. Like this, for instance:

I link, therefore, I Err has a little mini-round-up of appreciation for George W. Bush. You’ll want to read it all.

From Alppuccino at Protein Wisdom:

At 10:40, President Bush will keep his streak alive by telling everyone how much he loves America. Just as he always has. And he’ll show everyone how much he loves America by preparing Obama as best he can for the next 4 years.

Read it all; it’s doubtful that Obama’s team will come into the White House finding O’s missing from their keyboards, any rude messages greeting them. And that is how it should be in America, a respectful transition.

Michael Gerson:

Many liberals refuse to concede Bush’s humanity, much less his achievements.

But that humanity is precisely what I will remember. I have seen President Bush show more loyalty than he has been given, more generosity than he has received. I have seen his buoyancy under the weight of malice and his forgiveness of faithless friends. Again and again, I have seen the natural tug of his pride swiftly overcome by a deeper decency — a decency that is privately engaging and publicly consequential.

[In 2005]…the White House senior staff overwhelmingly opposed a new initiative to fight malaria in Africa for reasons of cost and ideology…In the crucial policy meeting, one person supported it: the president of the United States, shutting off debate with a moral certitude that others have criticized. I saw how this moral framework led him to an immediate identification with the dying African child, the Chinese dissident, the Sudanese former slave, the Burmese women’s advocate. It is one reason I will never be cynical about government — or about President Bush.

Jeffery Scott Shapiro:

[The treatment of President Bush] from this country is nothing less than a disgrace. The attacks launched against him have been cruel and slanderous, proving to the world what little character and resolve we have…Our failure to stand by the one person who continued to stand by us has not gone unnoticed by our enemies. It has shown to the world how disloyal we can be when our president needed loyalty — a shameful display of arrogance and weakness that will haunt this nation long after Mr. Bush has left the White House.

Until we fix, within ourselves, our enthrallment with hate for others, simply because they hold differing views, we’ll never pull it together. In 2006 we watched a right-wing blogger be called less than human by a left-wing reader. We’ve seen President Bush being referred to as “the chimp” and “the monkey” by the wits who insisted that ideology trumped having a decent respect for another’s humanity. I wrote about that a little here:

Thus, George W. Bush is “Chimpy McHitler.” Hillary Clinton is “a pig in a pantsuit.” Barack Obama is “O-Bambi.” Cindy McCain, who has exhibited some courage and laudable compassion in her life, is reduced to a “pill-popping beer-frau,” and so forth. From there it is smooth sailing down an ever-descending river of hatred, until we are incapable of seeing anything good in the “other,” both because we have willfully hardened our hearts, and because our hate — especially when it is supported by a group of like minds — feels safe and inviolable.

With that in mind, you’ll want to read this excellent piece over at Conversion Diary, wherein Jenifer ponders pictures from a Nazi-era photo album and wonders, how such common-variety people managed to support and enable such profound evil.

One thing that stands out in all these examples is that the victims of the widespread evil were categorized as something less than human…not only that innocent people were killed or enslaved, but that their humanity was taken away by the societies around them…So here is the advice I would offer to my children, and to my children’s children:

Every decade or so, take a look around the society in which you live, and ask yourself if there is any group of human beings who are seen as something less than human. A big tipoff is if dehumanizing words — terms other than “man,” “woman,” “child,” “baby,” or “person” — are used to describe any category of people.

And if you ever see that going on, you might be in the midst of something gravely evil.

Dehumanizing people begins with baby-steps like name-calling, or the sort of intellectual dishonesty that delights in deliberately twisting the meaning of others in negative and misrepresentative ways. Those are the little gateways to the great evils that come once you’ve managed to thoroughly de-humanize others.

We’ve had 8 years - I’d say 12, really - of people demonizing and dehumanizing others, from both sides, and it is not getting us anyplace good. I believe that the response of most of the right to Obama’s victory is a step toward changing that. But the left has to do their part, too.

Pope Benedict XVI said, “those who hope live differently.” The election of Barack Obama was borne on this word, “Hope.”

If the people who voted for “hope” were sincere, then let them begin, today, to embrace it - and to live differently - without the kneejerk move to hate “the other side.” The right, responding levelly to their defeat, has offered the opening. Will the left take it?

UPDATE: Seems some will. Here is mostly accurate, and apprecited praise from a surprising quarter:

Would America have elected Barack Obama if white Americans had not gotten accustomed to seeing (in succession) two African-American Secretaries of State? I don’t think so. Before Bush, African-Americans were appointed to some good posts but not to our #1 foreign policy job. Two African Americans (one with a pretty odd first name) served as America’s face to the world. That eased Obama’s way. It is not Tiger Woods in whose footsteps Obama is walking — it’s Rice and Powell….Fact is, “W” never gave any evidence of holding racist attitudes…even just the slur the occasionally slips out of the mouth of even our most liberal leaders.

Same with Arabs and Muslims…Bush, after 9/11, never resorted to anti-Arab or Muslim stereotypes. He drew distinctions between terrorists and Arabs…Had he not done these things, Arabs and Muslims might have experienced not just hate crimes but pogroms.

Meanwhile, from Grand Rants:

Here is a man who is regularly compared to Hitler in casual conversation in Leftist circles high and low. His honor has been regularly impugned, his intelligence (or, as the press loves to put it, his “intellectual curiousity”) constantly demeaned, his verbal stumblings consistently mocked, and his accomplishments in office discounted or ignored. He is a man who kept his head down and did his job, despite the slings and arrows hurled at him by fortune made all the more outrageous by nearly the entire Democratic party.

I for one, would like to say thank you to Pres. Bush. For keeping us safe. For watching out for us. For persevering in spite of all the spite. I believe history will ultimately judge you as one of America’s best presidents, and I believe you deserve that judgement.

H/T to Opinionated Catholic, who writes:

The throwing under the bus of the President by even his friends and indeed the base has been shocking to me. Many groups will find out soon enough how they took Bush’s support and advocacy for them for granted, Catholics, especially.

Meanwhile, Jules Crittenden is beginning to enjoy Omerica, Quin Hillyer is saying America is over, kaput, finished, Evan Thomas suddenly finds Obama “slightly creepy” and when you refuse to release medical records, and the press doesn’t care…conjecture begins about your mental health.

Forty-Fourth President, Twelfth Imam

by Baron Bodissey

O-Man’s Fibonacci spiral haloThe election results were long expected, but now that the day has arrived it’s quite a letdown, anyway. Reading about the joy expressed by Hamas and Syria and Italy and Indonesia… contemplating Obama’s Secretary of State, or (God help us) Defense… Thinking about the USA becoming just like Sweden, only with a real army, and aircraft carriers, and nukes… First Lady Michelle…

It’s all too depressing.

So, as is my habit in such circumstances, instead of writing a post this evening or doing something else useful, I created yet another iconic image of The One. After looking around at some of his existing halos, I decided to make one myself. A man can’t have too many halos, right?

And then I pondered the phenomenon of halos appearing behind the heads of great national leaders, men who are born into modest Muslim circumstances, but in time become presidents of large countries that have nuclear weapons. It made me think of…
- - - - - - - - -
Mad Jad’s HaloMahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Ol’ Mad Jad got his halo when he went to visit the UN a couple of years ago. It appeared behind his head while he was speaking. Not only that, his audience was held in such rapt attention by his words that they were unable to blink for thirty minutes. We know all this is true because he told us so.

I wonder how many other resemblances there are between him and Barack Hussein Obama.

Ahmadinejad sees himself as preparing the way for the Twelfth Imam, as a sort of satanic John the Baptist for the man who is prophesied to return and usher in the apocalypse preceding the establishment of the permanent reign of Islam over the entire world.

And Obama’s got a bigger halo.

Does that mean…? Nah — it couldn’t be… But still… It makes me wonder…

What if the One were also the Twelfth?

Note to the literal-minded: this post is for fun, not to be taken seriously. Given the circumstances, it’s the only fun I’m likely to have for quite a while.

We may have to set up a “Free Republic in Exile” like Degaulle did when the Nazis overran France, but we’ll manage.

Some realistic things to expect early in the Obama Administration

I work in Chicago. I deal with a great many attorneys in my job, many of whom are staunch Dims and breathless Obambi supporters; some were even active in his campaign. More than one told me that at or near the top of Obambi’s agenda is a new Hate Crimes bill, with a wide expansion of what will be considered a hate crime

Didn't you notice that Obama is a conservative?  "Obama is, in his own words, something of a Rorschach test. But I'm just burned, and bummed out. The elections. The sellout of Israel. The Moonbats. The Stupid Party. The Evil Party.

Then again, after yesterday there's this:

”Zimbabwe On The Potomac...”

You know there were warning signs...

I kept telling people when Bill Clinton slithered in to office, and clung to it, despite all the scandals, and Impeachment itself-- “He's just a symptom. Like a fever is of a disease- there's something wrong with America.”

Like Popular Culture- look at the magazines-- I call it “thugs & jugs,” or “which Pop Tart is popping out whose baby this week?”

Or Katrina- ever seen so many people milling around with their hands out, when they should have been helping themselves?

We did it to ourselves, and The New, Improved Black Jesus is merely a symptom.

All civilizations have a shelf life- once enough citizens figure out that by electing the “right” representatives, they can use the power of the government to pick the pockets of others,

...it's all over, except for the details.

Well, we're in the “details,” now.

Meanwhile, I have to figure out what Miss Emily and I do with what's left of our lives, and bush hog her Mom's old place in the country, because City Life isn't going to be worth living from here on out.

I'll catch you all later...

...maybe...

Daniel Henninger on the coming electoral disaster for Democrats

FRANCIS CIANFROCCA: What the Tea Party Movement Is Really About:

Here’s what the TP itself really fears, in an inchoate way that for most of its members doesn’t rise to the level of clear understanding, but is still intuitively very powerful: the US is embracing central planning as a governing theory, as fast as our legislative processes will allow. . . . Central planning has two primary flaws, when compared with economic freedom: it misallocates resources, and it magnifies the impact of corruption. I could write a decent-sized book explaining both of those mechanisms, but because I’ve never been busier in my life than I have been these past few weeks, I’ll cut to the conclusion.

The endpoint of central planning, if not outright failure, is a much deeper and more intractable division of society into haves and have-nots. After promising a better world for everyone, the progressives will end up creating a society that is more polarized than ever. . . . And we’re already seeing everywhere, from David Brooks to Noam Chomsky, the signs of how the elites will have to deal with the polarization: by loudly proclaiming in their captive media that the have-nots are stupid and, eventually, evil.

Indeed. Related thoughts here: “Money can be used to create value, or it can fuel the exercise of power, but not both. . . . Free people multiply. The all-powerful State is only good at division.”

"...I have worked hard, support my family, and have never taken my neighbor's money. But then I sat there and watched millions of people wanting a chance to get at my money which they called "Obama money". I felt so sad for America. And then, last summer, I saw people that felt like me showing up at town hall meetings. I heard the voice of Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity saying EXACTLY what I was thinking.... and suddenly I was not alone! The media is trying to say I am a racist or something equally as evil. I am not. I am an American ..."

House Democrats are watching the justifications for their health-care votes evaporate

One scenario that went through my mind is the following. The Dems are looking at a small disaster in November and many are now realizing the justifications for their health care vote were smoke and mirrors. They know that loyalty to Obama has cost them their job. They also know that Obama is not eligible. If he can be removed, the health care bill is null and void and if they can get credit for removing him from office, they may just save their political hides. The knives come out and they get some real evidence. It makes them look like idiots, but some political theater can convince the majority of Dem voters that the congresscritters really didn't know he was ineligible. (That is the easy part.) Would they do it? I don't think so, but it is not completely impossible. Hmmm....

And believe it or not, no drugs were consumed before I wrote this.

WHEELS ALREADY COMING OFF OBAMACARE? “Not one of its major programs has gotten started, and already the wheels are starting to come off of Obamacare. This is an objective report by administration actuaries that shows this sweeping legislation has serious, serious problems.” Maybe next time they’ll read the bill before passing it. Obama’s financial “reform:” It’s all about the boodle

April 26, 2010 10:13 AM by Michelle Malkin

In front of the cameras, the Democrats will lambaste the greedy, Wall Street money. Behind the scenes, they’re pocketing Wall Street campaign donations and working out deals.

First, the latest from Capitol Hill:

National Review has a good rundown of all the favors to Wall Street embedded in the legislation, including front-door bailouts, backdoor bailouts, and Big Labor goodies.

Barack Obama’s Big Lie — that taxpayers are not funding this fund — is refuted by the CBO (via Morning Bell):

James Gattuso at Heritage has much more in an analysis of the 14 fatal flaws in the Dodd plan.

I’m reading a terrific history of Chicago corruption by James Merriner, Grafters and Goo Goos: Corruption and Reform in Chicago, 1833-2003, who writes of the ageless, interdependent relationship between Windy City politicos and “goo goos” (the derisive term for good government reformers). The derision is well-earned. In Chicago, and in Chicago-on-the-Potomac, “reform” has always entailed wealth redistribution under the guise of public service.

The exposure continues: blog Celestial Junk and Breitbart News "BigJournalism" also have posted the Muhammed Test.

Two Democratic state representatives asked the Governor of Illinois to use the National Guard against Chicago’s criminals. John Fritchey and LaShawn Ford “said they want Quinn, Mayor Richard Daley and Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis to allow guardsmen to patrol streets and help quell violence”. But Weis disagreed, saying it was unlikely the governor would act against Mayor Daley’s wishes; besides using the National Guard would lead to another Kent State incident.

What he envisions, Fritchey said, is a “heightened presence on the streets,” particularly on the roughly 9 percent of city blocks where most of the city’s violent crimes occur. … So far this year, 113 people have been killed across Chicago, the same number of U.S. troops killed in Iraq and Afghanistan combined in the same period, Fritchey said.

“As we speak, National Guard members are working side-by-side with our troops to fight a war halfway around the world,” Fritchey said. “The unfortunate reality is that we have another war that is just as deadly taking place right in our backyard.”

The enforcement of laws in places like Chicago is not only physically dangerous but if performed opens the officer to career-ending charges or even threat of jail time.

Exactly right. The same crowd of “activist” morons that are complaining about crime are the first to scream racism and police brutality any time a police officer tries to do his job. They demand action with one hand, and do everything possible to prevent it with the other.

I saw this farce play out over and over in New York. As crime was dropping dramatically under Giuliani, all you got from “the community” was ranting about Racist Giuliani and Adolph Giuliani (civility, anyone?) and police brutality and the “prison/industrial complex”. It never occurred to these folk that the biggest beneficiaries of the drop in crime was the black community. Thousands of lives were saved, and countless traumatic crimes did NOT happen to black people because of Giuliani. Much deserved “thank you's” are yet to come forth.

The Protocols of Chris Matthews

The end result of leftism is anti-Semitism. Chris Matthews (who used to be pro Israel) turning on the Jews was as predictable as the day is long.  When  your “Messiah’s” policies are falling apart – blame the Jews. MSNBC is a despicable cesspool of hatred and Goebbels like propaganda. The husky pony-tailed blogger should take notice that Matthews and Obergruppenfuhrer Pat Buchanan are buddies.

by Stuart Schwartz

Jews.

Everywhere, there are Jews. They have penetrated the highest ranks of government, control vast swaths of the economy, and bend nations to their demonic will. But not to worry: Chris Matthews is on the case.

The host of “Hardball with Chris Matthews” on radical-left MSNBC has become a modern-day Paul Revere. But instead of the British, he gallops each weekday into a few (very few, with first-quarter ratings down 46% compared to last year) homes and warns the nation of the threat of this international circumcision cult that wants to serve up a heaping helping of world domination along with its bagels and lox.

One if by land, Jew if by sea. Welcome to the world of Chris Matthews. Oy.

As one writer for the radical Nation approvingly put it, Matthews demonstrates “nearly every night” his understanding of the threat posed by “socially- and politically-empowered hawkish Jews” to the United States. Matthews is a protégé of former president Jimmy Carter (notorious for blaming the Jews for everything from his failed presidency to elder abuse) and friend of MSNBC commentator Pat Buchanan, who blames “U.S. Jewry” for such varied perversions as Hillary Clinton and anal sex in Hollywood.

Both are good friends and frequent guests on his show, as is Rep. Jim Moran, the Virginia Democrat who is not shy about sharing his nuanced view of the cause of America’s ills: The Jews did it, the Jews are doing it, and the Jews will continue to do it until stopped. In a public letter in the Beliefnet website owned by the Washington Post, former New York City mayor Ed Koch accused this “good friend” Chris Matthews of peddling “anti-Semitic blood libels.”
Matthews has long used his television platform to spotlight the danger to the United States posed by Israel and American Jews who actively conspire against the country. Call it “The Protocols of Chris Matthews,” or, perhaps, “The Protocols of the Elders of MSNBC.” Rid us of Israel, rid us of Jews, and Pandora will return to its pre-kosher bliss.

[...]

National Review’s Jonah Goldberg has described Matthews’s obsession with Jews as the “staple trope” of someone “who talks about Jews in the [Bush] administration the way Tailgunner Joe talked about Communists in the State Department.” Thomas Lifson, publisher of American Thinker, is more to the point, calling the Matthews description of Israel “nauseating.”

The Governing Class' Childish and Vicious Definition of Racism

—Ace

As Gabe posted below, Obama is urging all Americans to turn out for the polls in November to create a historic level of participation among all colors, races and creeds.

Well, not so much, of course. He wants "young people, blacks, Lations and women" to show up at the polls. White men needn't bother.

Is this racist? If the liberals' typical definition of racism were applied consistently, of course it would be racist. But of course it's not applied consistently. Racism is something white people, and Republican white people in particular, do. Liberals and especially black liberals are incapable of being racist.

If Obama's exhortations for only some of the electorate to participate in democracy sounds racist to you, why, that's probably a defect in you character -- and, in fact, probably evidence of a deep-seated, subconscious streak of racism in you yourself.

But that's just the standard-issue double-standard we all know and loathe. There's another disturbing element to it -- the automatic presumption among the privileged class that wherever blacks and whites diverge in political thought, it must be whites who are in the wrong, and not only in the wrong, but almost certainly motivated by racism.

But if it's not racist or wrong for blacks to generally vote according to the perceived "black economic interest," why is it wrong for whites to do the same? This is rarely explained, and when it is explained, it usually amounts to little more than rationalized ipse dixit restatement of the double-standard. It's wrong for whites to vote according to their perceived economic interest because they benefit from "white skin privilege" and they are the "dominant social group," upon whom a greater burden of acting for the greater good is placed, etc. Asked to defend the huge assumption of the rightness of a racial double-standard, academics tend to simply dream up closely-related assumptions and assert them (and claim those assumptions, in turn, "prove" the assumption they were asked to prove in the first place).

Let's not be childish about this. We are instructed every day that blacks are poorer than whites. There is no lack of evidence for this fact. It is therefore no surprise at all that blacks should generally favor wealth redistributionist policies more than whites, as blacks, being poorer, will tend to pay less into such a regime and receive more benefits out of it. Nor is it any surprise that whites should generally oppose such policies, as whites, being richer, will tend to pay more into such a regime and receive less.

There is hardly any cause here for liberals interested in honest, civil debate -- which they all to a man assure me is all they care about lately -- to scream "racism" over differences in white and black opinions over Obama's wealth-redistributionist agenda. You can call opponents of it greedy (but then, how are poorer blacks who are to be favored under that system any less greedy than whites, given that both are acting according to the precise same factor -- perceived personal net-economic self-interest?), but you can hardly brand someone "racist" for wanting to have an extra two or three thousand dollars.

Everyone wants an extra two or three thousand dollars. Politics, famously played within the 40-yard-lines in America, is 90% about who shall have an extra two or three thousand dollars and from whom shall be forcibly extracted that "free" two or three thousand dollars.

It is only an intellectual thug or "hater" who could assert that someone's quite-rational and utterly-understandable desire to keep two or three thousand dollars that he earned in the first place is evidence of racism and a vicious animosity towards blacks, rather than just wanting a fucking Sea-Doo this year.

This is as clear-cut an example as possible of a political position having nothing at all to do with race, as a formal matter, nevertheless causing a sharp divide between the races.

Another example -- cutting government payrolls. If my experiences at the DMV are any guide, there are a lot more blacks, as a fraction of the black population, working government jobs than whites (again, as a fraction of the white population).

If everyone in America, say, cares enough about ten other people enough that they take those other people's economic situations into account at all when making political decisions, we would find (and I am just making these numbers up out of whole cloth for illustrative purposes) that the average white guy might have a 1.5 people in his group of ten that he cares about with a public job, whereas the average black guy might have 2.3 people in his group of ten.

And that causes big disagreements between the races on cutting government payrolls. For the white guy, it's more upside -- he gets to lower the costs of government for himself, and only 1.5 of the people he knows could be adversely affected by the cuts. For the black guy, on the other hand, while he too would get the benefit of a cheaper and leaner government, he now has to worry about 2.3 people in his circle of close friends who will be harmed by that choice. Black enthusiasm for slashing government payrolls will thus be dampened.

Again, at no point in this topic was race explicitly a factor. This isn't about civil rights or interracial marriage or affirmative action. It's about as non-racial a subject as you could think of, and yet the races will have, due to different circumstances, noticeably differing levels of support for the policy.

And, again, simple economic self-interest perfectly explains both the voting behaviors of whites and blacks on this issue. But even though whites' voting behavior is easily and completely explained by morally-neutral economic concerns -- "Hey, if I cut government's costs, I'll have more money for myself and my family" -- the left and the media (BIRM) insists on supplementing that explanation with the cry of racism.

And when it comes to explicitly racial policies like affirmative action quotas and "plus factors"? Forget about it. Obviously a white man who opposes affirmative action quotas is a racist. It's simply not possible that he could see affirmative action quotas as by design making it harder for him to get key things in the one life God has granted him -- a good job, a plum promotion, a slot in an elite college -- and therefore opposes it simply because it disadvantages him and, indeed, harms him.

No, the only possible explanation as to why he should not want his employers, colleges, and own government discriminating against him is his hatred of the black race.

Once upon a time, charges of "racism" would chiefly be expected to fly in issues which explicitly reference race, such as affirmative action, or, lately, illegal immigration. The left's major innovation in the past 15 years is to apply that exact same paradigm to issues having nothing superficially to do with race such as tax policy, heath care policy, and, Dear Lord, even environmental policy.

Now, regarding Obama: In my own mind, what he did here is not racist. There is a very simple reason he wants blacks, Latinos, and women to turn out to the polls in great numbers: those cohorts vote for him. The man doesn't have to be a racist to understand that the more minorities and women show up for the polls, the better the odds the Democrats avoid an electoral Chernobyl.

On the other hand -- imagine the reaction if a Republican specifically urged white men to turn out at the polls like they've never done before.

In both cases -- in Obama's and the hypothetical Republican's -- it would be a case of the men acting not out of any particular racial impulse but instead doing simple statistics and deciding that if a group votes more for you than your opponent, you want more of that group voting -- obviously! -- but in only one case, of course, would the charge of racism attach.

And Obama and the Obama-loving media will never explain why this should be the case, but friends of his like Louis "Skip" Gates -- last glimpsed in the vicinity of a white officer who was "acting stupidly" in the sage opinion of our president -- will offer you a bunch of jargonized just-because-I-said-so twaddle about why double-standards are not only acceptable, but morally obligatory.

The Precedent is not doing this for the reason you state.  He's not doing it for racist reasons, either.  What he's doing is trying to foment racial animus in this nation, to being this country to a boil.  He's been pulling this every so often and he is going to move much more heavily into this tactic as he loses his useful idiot majorities in Congress and switches to more executive actions and stirring racial strife.

Now, he doesn't care about losing Congress, as he hates the dems as much as he hates most Americans, but he is preparing to finish his suicide run and blow the US up before he is tossed out of office and that will include getting the cities all whipped up and scaring whitey as much as possible.

This all comes back to the real intentions of The Precedent: He wants to exact revenge on this nation and take us down.  That's it.  For him, the racial edge is just one more tool of destruction he can wield against us. Make no mistake, he is pitting the races against each other as much as he is able, not looking to squeeze any votes out of anyone.

KEEPING UP THE PRESSURE: Andrew Breitbart; No More Beer Summits: Tea Party ‘N-Word’ Incident Didn’t Happen, And the Congressional Black Caucus Owes America an Apology.

"When I offered a reward of $100,000 to be donated to the United Negro College Fund if anyone produced video and audio evidence that this occurred, I was accused of a publicity stunt (because everyone knows that the best way to get publicity in America is to accuse a civil rights icon of lying about racism). Rep. Carson himself suggested that my challenge was “a veiled attempt to justify actions that are simply unjustifiable.” Get it? He calls protesters racist and if you ask him to prove it, you’re a racist, too. Needless to say, no one has claimed the $100,000..."

Plus, Letter to the Congressional Black Caucus from Tea Party Federation: Please Provide Evidence of Cannon N-Word Incident. I agree. I think it was a lie, and I think the Tea Partiers deserve an apology. This got me flak from the likes of the Socialist Workers Party and DailyKos, but so be it. Miserable flacks flying cover don’t change the truth — they tried to provoke a racial incident, and when they failed they lied about it.

Naturally, The New York Times, MSNBC, CNN, and kindred media outlets are set to repudiate these new outbreaks of hate and racist incitements to violence, narrow-mindedness, bigotry, etc., etc. Look for it tomorrow on the Daily KOS and other web sites dedicated to rooting out irrational prejudice and exposing the sore losers who don’t understand that elections have consequences and who won’t give a new law a chance but who divisively call for the repeal of the will of the people.”

FORGET THE DEPLORABLE JEWISH JOKE: Tom Maguire looked at the rest of Gen. Jones’ speech and writes: National Security Advisor Gen. James Jones Scares Me.

UPDATE: New York Magazine defends the joke. Carrying water. Note the update where Gen. Jones apologizes, undercutting their pathetic, politically-driven defense. I mean, would they have covered for Trent Lott this way? Not a chance. Hacks.

An Obamaville in Queens. Reader Kevin Greene writes: “Hundreds of people have set up a tent city on a street outside a company in Queens hoping just to get an application for the job. Not the actual job, mind you. They’re camping out just to get in line to get one of the 100 applications the company will hand out.” So how’s that stimulus working out?

PENNSYLVANIA’S TEA PARTY: Brewing For Years.

For the past several weeks the tea party movement has been widely maligned as radical and dangerous. For example, former President Bill Clinton, in a speech and a New York Times op-ed, has cautioned that supporting tea parties could unleash violent militias. The Southern Poverty Law Center released a report claiming they are “shot through with rich veins of radical ideas, conspiracy theories, and racism.”

None of this fits with what I’ve seen. The tea parties I’ve spoken at in western Pennsylvania resemble church picnics—although their growing potency may be a signal of things to come on the national scene.

"I don't blame Obama, except peripherally because he's a dork.

No, the real bad guys here are the ones like Bawney Fwank who pushed and pushed and PUSHED for the "underprivileged" to get mortgages. When you give a $300k mortgage to a single mother with two kids and no job, it can't end well for anyone can it?

When you give the single mom a mortgage because government regulations FORCE you to, that's a whole 'nother level of ugly.

Everyone else involved, from the morons who thought this up to the morons who bought them were merely stupid. You can tell because they didn't have a chair when the music stopped."

Cleaning up our trashed border

Thugs and commies and anarchists, oh my!

"there is an effort to criminalize enforcing the law"

Rush today on the Arizona law meant to deal with that state's illegal immigration problem:

Isn't protecting our legal citizens from an invading army of illegal aliens who are using our services and taking our jobs, a basic notion of fairness?

Isn't that in the Constitution in where is the fairness to American citizens on here? Where is it being applied?  How come the fairness here is being denied to American citizens?  Fairness is a casualty because of the behavior of American citizens.  What about the basic fairness of state and federal governments to protect the American citizens?  So it looks to me like what's going on in Arizona -- and it's not the first time -- there is an effort to criminalize enforcing the law.  And leading this effort is "Barack Hussein Obama! Mmm, mmm, mmm," leading the effort to criminalize the enforcement of the law.  It's like on 9/11. Obama seems to only have empathy here for the perps.  He doesn't have any empathy or sympathy for the American people in Arizona, for the American citizens out there.

Of course, Obama has his supporters, particularly amongst the pious left:

Foreigners Out!

"The pizzas you eat come from Italy, your numerical system from the Arabs, your script from the Romans, your toys from Hong Kong, your electronic equipment from Japan, your clothes from Taiwan, your wealth from trade with the rest of the world. And then you shout 'Foreigners out!'?"
~ A church sign in Offenbach, Germany
(via Ekklesia)"

U.S.'s Toughest Immigration Law Is Signed in Arizona" (New York Times)

Notice how the law is portrayed by Obama and his misguided followers. It's either racist or it's a violation of civil rights or it's xenophobia when in reality it's about a state attempting to do something to ensure that laws on the books are enforced, that rampant crime is dealt with, that the state's citizens are protected.

The new legislation (that link brought to us by Steve Schippert in an email to a blogger's distribution list I belong to) isn't complicated and far shorter (17 pages) than I expected.

An interesting clause in the relevant passage contains this most cogent (and under-reported) language:

25 F. THIS SECTION DOES NOT APPLY TO A PERSON WHO MAINTAINS AUTHORIZATION
26 FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO REMAIN IN THE UNITED STATES.

Seems plain enough don't you think?

In the mean-time, there are those who in the attempt to clean up the border area, have come across some interesting items:

At the fence, we saw garbage everywhere including the Mexican side. We even heard a man clearing his throat on the other side of the border fence. We found a backpack with clothes that were wet from a newly opened water bottle that had spilled. We have every reason to believe there was someone in the wash we were walking who heard or saw us and took off. It was an eerie feeling. And yes, it only takes 3 seconds to hop a border because we found something that is never shown on the news or in distributed pictures: crossbars on both sides of the fence that are welded into the metal posts to serve as footholds. This is the handywork of illegals - not the way the fence was constructed. One can also witness the areas where a sledgehammer was used to break the footholds - probably done by border patrol. All someone has to do is slip their foot onto the cross bar to hoist themselves up, climb to the top bar and jump over. It's that easy! And that's what protects you and me from millions of unknowns.

The Arizona law is but yet another step by decent law-abiding citizens to take their country back.  Decent law-abiding citizens who are being misrepresented, slandered, and portrayed to be people they aren't by people who claim to hold the moral high ground.

I fail to see how these alleged moral high grounders can do these things in good conscience.

Rejecting the Left

Interesting article, it touches on many of my own reflections and observations of the left over the years - most of them are, in fact, bullies (and deep down inside, utter cowards), and use every dysfunctional trick in the book to cow you, make you back down, and even try to get you to question your own beliefs and morality - failing that, they fall back on the old standard guilt trip. If that fails, then it’s personal attacks, mocking you, disrespecting you, and disenfrachising your opinion.

It’s utterly reprehensible behavior, but in their sick minds, they think it’s fine, because it’s a means to their ends, and that’s all they care about.

It’s pervasive in all aspects of our society now, in media, in politics, in business, in social settings, in personal relationships.

GOP slams brakes on Wall St. debate

The notion that the likes of President Obama, advisor Rahm Emmanuel, Sen. Chris Dodd, and Rep. Barney Frank are proposing “reform” of American banking and finance is truly a farce. Obama received around $1 million in campaign contributions from notorious Goldman-Sachs, and his chief of staff, Rahm “Deadfish” Emmanuel was on their payroll. Chris “Contrywide” Dodd has withdrawn from re-election to his Senate seat because of his disgraceful cronyism and kickbacks from the now defunct mortgage lender that cut him special deals as chairman of the Senate Banking committee. Likewise, Barney Frank has used his position as chair of the House Banking committee to drive forward foolish leniency on sub-prime mortgages by Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, quasi-governmental lending giants at the heart of the collateralized security debacle. Meanwhile, over at the SEC, governmental regulators sat around surfing porn sites while Bernie Madoff went wild. What a pathetic performance.

The Real Story of the Oklahoma City Bombing

While liberal news outlets such as MSNBC were cynically exploiting the April 19 anniversary of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing by attempting to tie the terrorist attack to the anti-government sentiments of the modern-day Tea Party movement, investigative reporter Jayna Davis was setting the record straight in an exclusive interview on the AIM radio show, Take AIM. The Oklahoma City bombing was an Arab/Muslim terrorist attack on the United States, she says.

Davis, author of a blockbuster book on the attack, The Third Terrorist, has examined and presented the evidence showing that Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh was in fact a front man for Middle Eastern terrorists. The third terrorist, in addition to the two, McVeigh and Terry Nichols, who were convicted, was an Arab. This was the mysterious "John Doe" who was never found. But other members of an Arab terrorist network were involved, she says.

She says the evidence was ignored and dismissed because the Clinton Administration didn't want to go to war with Iraq, the likely culprit, and wanted to blame the attack on domestic right-wingers for political reasons.

The implications of what Davis has to say are that the case is still unsolved, that the FBI blew it, and that we may still be vulnerable to Arab terrorists infiltrating the U.S. and killing hundreds or thousands of innocent Americans.

Indeed, Davis suggested in her AIM interview that another attack on American soil may be coming, perhaps from the same networks which sponsored McVeigh.

Liberal media like MSNBC have peddled the false notion that McVeigh was motivated by domestic hatred of the government, and that the Tea Party movement is motivated by the same. Hence, by extension, the Tea Party movement will probably spawn anti-government fanatics who will kill people.

SO HOW’S THAT GUN CONTROL WORKING FOR YOU? A Community Disorganized: Chicago Democrats Want National Guard Brought In.

FROM BEN CUNNINGHAM, a roundup of Tea Party news headlines.

TEA PARTY UPDATE: Poll stunner: Sen. Bennett on brink of defeat.

The poll found that more than two-thirds (68 percent) of the delegates identify themselves as supporters of the tea-party movement. That doesn’t necessarily mean they carry signs at rallies, Coker said, but they support the philosophy.

“What is uniting everyone right now is fiscal conservatism, and I’m not even sure I like the term conservative. It’s just responsibility. Just quit spending all the money,”
( AKA, "everybody else's money..." )

said David Kirkham, a co-founder of Utah’s tea party movement. “There are a lot of people who are angry. Are we responsible? I’m just glad we can be part of it.”

Yes, that’s the big tent.

RADLEY BALKO: A Right To Photograph The Police.

In fact, under Maryland law what Graber did isn’t actually a crime. For a recording to be illegal, one of the parties being recorded must have a reasonable expectation of privacy. A cop, acting as a cop, with his gun drawn, while standing alongside a public roadway, has no such expectation. On April 15th, Graber was released and the charges against him were dropped. As he told Miller, “The judge who released me looked at the paperwork and said she didn’t see where I violated the wiretapping law.”

Graber was harassed, intimidated, illegally arrested, and jailed for an act that clearly wasn’t illegal. According to Graber, the name of the judge who signed off on the raid of his parents’ home doesn’t appear on the warrant. As Graber told Miller, “They told me they don’t want you to know who the judge is because of privacy.” If true, that statement is so absurd it’s mind numbing. A judge issued an illegal warrant for police to invade the private residence and rummage through the private belongings of a man who broke no laws, and we aren’t permitted to know the judge’s name in order to protect the judge’s privacy?

Judges shouldn’t have “privacy” regarding judicial acts. They shouldn’t even have immunity. The doctrine of judicial immunity, as I’ve noted before, was created by . . . judges!

If a dead tree drops in the forest and there’s no one there to read it, does it make a sound?

Unemployment challenges Obama’s economic narrative. “Even as he touts his efforts to put more Americans to work, President Barack Obama faces a public increasingly skeptical of his ability to bring jobs back to Main Street. . .

Related thoughts from Matt Welch. It’s not that the SPLC is a bunch of partisan political tools employing guilt by association and wild overreaches. I criticized Morris Dees on that to his face, on PBS Newshour back in 1995. It’s that they’ve become such an obvious, unsubtle, transparent bunch of tools.Barack Obama: Not Post-Racial Enough!

Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!

Barack Obama, "A More Perfect Union" - "As such, Reverend Wright's comments were not only wrong but divisive, divisive at a time when we need unity; racially charged at a time when we need to come together to solve a set of monumental problems - two wars, a terrorist threat, a falling economy, a chronic health care crisis and potentially devastating climate change; problems that are neither black or white or Latino or Asian, but rather problems that confront us all. "

Barack Obama, A More Perfect Mid-Term Campaign - “This year, the stakes are higher than ever. It will be up to each of you to make sure that young people, African Americans, Latinos and women who powered our victory in 2008 stand together once again...”

"Campaign on the post racial, Govern on the most racial."

"The US is now a raging storm of racial tension, worse than any time I can remember. It is the direct result of left wing Alinskyite agitation from Washington, pitting identity group against identity group to save their sorry klepto-Marxist asses. Complicit in this socio-political crime is the partisan left media and the Alinsky NGOs who now feed freely at the public trough to spread their culturally divisive messaging."

Longtime readers will remember that in 2006 and 2007, I provided extensive coverage of the open-borders radicals who didn’t just push for amnesty, but revealed their anti-American, anti-sovereignty, anti-police, pro-Che colors in all their fury. Some of those posts went viral and this one of the American flag desecration at Montebello High School still shows up in my e-mail box.

Over the weekend, the open-borders extremists returned to the streets. But you won’t see CNN and MSNBC hunting them down Susan Roesgen-style and decrying these fringe wackos.

Since they are back, I am back — doing the job the amnesty-sympathizers won’t do for fear of being labeled RAAAAAAACIST. Behold:

Whoops. They didn’t get the “Wave an American flag” memo:

The slogan on the back of a protesting Puerto Rican singer from the band Calle 13 says “Luz verde para invadir Arizona.” Translation: “Green light to invade Arizona:”

But they keep telling us there’s no such thing as a “no borders” movement:

And they keep telling us they do believe in law and order:

I noted one of the hysterical “Fourth Reich” signs last week. Here come more Nazi card-players. Guess they just re-purposed their anti-Tea Party signs:

More from JWF here. And here’s racial hoax engineer Al Sharpton screaming “NAZI.”

Yes, this is a communist flag:

This is mild in comparison to what her voice mail messages must contain:

For a taste of what Arizona GOP Gov. Jan Brewer is getting slammed with, just check out the unhinged frenzy of vandalism on her Wikipedia page.

I’m sure the New York Times and Rachel Maddow will be churning out sympathetic pieces on the hate and rage being directed at her for simply trying to protect the health, safety, and welfare of Arizona’s law-abiding citizens…

The open-borders circus continues on May 1 with a reprise of the 2006-2007 illegal alien rallies. Check out the photo of the Immigrant Solidarity announcement of the May 1 event right now (I’ve screen-capped it for posterity). Che-mania!

Their rallying cry:

We are calling A national day of multi-ethnic unity with youth, labor, peace and justice communities in solidarity with immigrant workers and building new immigrant rights & civil rights movement!

Wear White T-Shirt, organize local actions to support immigrant worker rights!

1. No to anti-immigrant legislation, and the criminalization of the immigrant communities.
2. No to militarization of the border.
3. No to the immigrant detention and deportation.
4. No to the guest worker program.
5. No to employer sanction and “no match” letters.
6. Yes to a path to legalization without condition for undocumented immigrants NOW.
7. Yes to speedy family reunification.
8. Yes to civil rights and humane immigration law.
9. Yes to labor rights and living wages for all workers.
10. Yes to the education and LGBTQ immigrant legislation.

We encourages everyone to actively linking our issues with different struggles: wars in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine & Korea with sweatshops exploitation in Asia as well as in Los Angeles, New York; international arm sales and WTO, FTAA, NAFTA & CAFTA with AIDS, hunger, child labors and child solider; as well as multinational corporations and economic exploitation with racism and poverty at home—in order we can win the struggle together at this May Day 2010!

Much, much more to come.

Vandalism at the capitol in Arizona:

The Arizona State Capitol has been the scene of many protests over the past few days. Now it’s the scene of vandalism.

Crews came in Monday morning and cleaned up refried beans that someone smeared over windows including Swastikas left on some House and Senate windows.

Capitol police think the vandalism occurred overnight Monday.

And here come the reconquistas again. Digger’s Realm has the report.

Another Bloomberg-MAIG Lie About Gun Shows

This week, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's gun control advocacy group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), began running television ads urging Congress to "close the gun show loophole."  Page 34 of MAIG's Blueprint for Federal Action on guns says that the group supports H.R. 2324 and S. 843—bills that would require NICS checks on private sales of firearms at gun shows, and which also contain provisions designed to drive gun shows out of business.

MAIG's ads claim "The Columbine school massacre ... killers got their guns because of a gap in the law, called the 'gun show loophole.'"  And in a related press release, MAIG claims "All four guns used in the Columbine shootings were bought from private sellers at gun shows."

The claims are lies, of course.  For starters, one of the Columbine criminals' four firearms was not acquired at a gun show.  More to the point, however, the other three firearms, while bought at a gun show, were bought for the criminals by a straw purchaser—a woman who was not prohibited from possessing or acquiring firearms, and who therefore would have passed a NICS check, if she had bought the firearms from a licensed dealer.

Furthermore, Bloomberg and MAIG are not telling the whole story about H.R. 2324 and S. 843.  Both bills define "vendor" to include any gun show customer who brings a firearm to a show—even for the purpose of selling it to a dealer—or who doesn't bring a firearm, but who mentions to someone at a show that he might be interested in selling a firearm.

And, H.R. 2324 would impose a "vendor" requirement with which no one could comply.  The bill would require show operators to notify the Attorney General, in writing, no later than 30 days in advance of the show, of the name of every "vendor."  Of course, there is no way that a show promoter can know 30 days (or 30 seconds) in advance who is going to attend a show, or who might bring a firearm to sell, or who might have a conversation with someone about selling a firearm.

Both bills also seek to register gun owners.  Because of how the bills define "vendor," a gun show promoter would be forced to have everyone who attends a show sign the ledger.  And the bills require that the "vendor" ledgers be available to BATFE inspectors.  Many Americans would refuse to sign a ledger just to walk around a show, which would reduce show attendance.

Both bills also would require registration of gun shows.  S. 843 would additionally allow the Attorney General to charge an unspecified fee for registering a gun show.  The power to set prohibitively expensive fees is the power to destroy, of course.

Both bills would also authorize the BATFE to conduct warrantless inspections of the required "vendor" (customer) ledger and all records of licensed firearm dealers while dealers are at shows to conduct business—a provision clearly designed to discourage dealers from participating in shows.

We've said it many times, but it bears repeating.  Gun shows account for a very small percentage of criminals' guns.  The largest study of the subject ever conducted by the federal government found that only 0.7 percent of prison inmates who had used guns, had obtained their guns from gun shows.  Furthermore, firearm sales have increased over the last several years, the nation's murder rate fell to a 43-year low in 2008, and fell another 10 percent in the first half of 2009, according to the FBI.

And no one should be fooled into thinking that gun control supporters want NICS checks on private firearm sales only at gun shows.  In December 2008, the Brady Campaign stated "We agree with the Obama transition agenda that the gun show loophole should be closed, and with Attorney General nominee Eric Holder that background checks should be required for all gun sales.  Our national gun policy should be "no background check, no gun, no excuses." (Emphasis in the original.)  Their goal is to run all sales through NICS and thereafter change the law so that the FBI would be permitted to retain records of all firearms sales indefinitely.  A step in that direction has been introduced in Congress by S. 843 author Sen. Frank Lautenberg.  His S. 2820 would allow the FBI to keep records of approved NICS transfers for 180 days.

Death Panels, anyone?

Now You See It, Now You Don’t

That was then.

embedded by Embedded Video

YouTube Direkt

This is now. As it turns out, decisions are now going to be made by a government appointed board whose rulings can’t be overturned unless both Congress and the President agree. Listen to the Orszag at the video at the link.

I like the part where Orszag claims this was all made clear up front. Ed Morrissey writes:

If anything, Orszag might be underestimating the difficulty in changing the IPAB’s decisions on rationing. The bill required a supermajority of 67 votes in the Senate to override the IPAB, which made Jim DeMint irate and prompted a big “I told you so” from Sarah Palin.

If Orszag’s remarks make any sense at all, then they suggest that IPAB is going to provide a brake against the “quantity” that can no longer be afforded. That sounds like they will be allocating less than will in the nature of things be demanded. Is this “rationing”? Well it all depends on what “is” is. Certainly it is a form of resource allocation and one that has all the hallmarks of finality.

Even the judge who must decide whether to release the nine until trial was puzzled.

Related: State climate-change laws good, state immigration laws bad.

And, from Daniel Griswold at Cato: “A silver lining of the Arizona immigration law is that is has turned up the heat on Washington to re-examine federal policy. . . . In brief, the single most effective change would be to expand opportunities for legal immigration, including for low-skilled workers who make up the large majority of the illegal population.”

Yes, the real scandal isn’t how Arizona is treating illegals, it’s how the Federal government treats people who try to legally immigrate.

UPDATE: A reader says he’s suprised to see me support the Arizona bill. Well, I really don’t — that is, I don’t know if I’d have voted for it if I were in Arizona. I’m mostly reacting to the fact that — as demonstrated by Linda Greenhouse — the opposition displays that special combination of self-righteous outrage and bone-deep stupidity that really sets me off.

Lack of border security is a real problem, and pretending otherwise is dumb or dishonest. The feds are doing a lousy job of it. Arizona is trying to prod them. All this over-the-top Nazi talk — particularly from people like Greenhouse, who don’t mind the federal government deciding if I get a kidney transplant — is disgraceful, as are the bogus charges of racism, etc., that are the standard response regardless of what the issue is. That does get my dander up.

HMM: Rasmussen: Majority of Latinos in Arizona support letting cops check for immigration status?

Here is a timely reminder, via an article we posted back in May of 2006, from Human Events:

Mexico’s Immigration Law: Let’s Try It Here at Home

Here is another now timely reprint of something we first posted back in May of 2006, also from the Associated Press:

Mexico Works to Bar Non-Natives From Jobs

Obama Is A Bully. “He seems to view dissension not as healthy public debate but as a suspicious, pernicious challenge to his omnipotence and popularity. . . . I can’t remember of any other President in my memory having done this. Nixon maybe? An unfortunate comparison, indeed.”

Economic Recovery? The Signs Aren’t There in My Neck of the Woods.

Geraghty adds via email that he shot the video with one of the pocket digital camcorders I’ve been plugging, though he didn’t say which one. Plus this observation: “Might be kind of interesting if everyone started posting pictures and videos of the businesses that have closed down and that are still empty, along with the empty Saturn dealerships, etc., the more we get ‘things are getting better!’ rhetoric from the Obama administration….”

UPDATE: Reader Ted Nolan writes:

You’ve posted comments from me a time or two, but you might be interested in my blog, Columbia Closings, which sort of does what Geraghty suggests for Columbia South Carolina, though I have plenty of
historic closings as well as recent ones. . . . As a further sucking-up, I should mention all the pictures are taken with a Lumix LX3 :-)

That’s a hell of a good camera. And reader Carolyn Nelson writes:

Drive Palmetto Park in Boca Raton between 5th Avenue SE and Federal Highway. It’s a ghost town – condos, office space and retail. Boca Raton has had a tougher time – 8.7% unemployment in December – but not as bad as the country average. I live there and people comment on the vacancy problem constantly. On the other hand, restaurants came back in 2010 and the Boca Raton Hotel seemed to have had better occupancy. But the situation is a long ways away from the golden days.

I was in Boca about a year ago for a speaking gig — I stayed at the Boca Raton Hotel, which was lovely — and was struck by all the closed storefronts and “For Lease” signs. And reader Melissa McClave writes:

Loved Jim Gerhaty’s spot. Couldn’t help but notice that he seems to be using a tripod. The bulk and akwardness of larger tripods can nullify the benefits of smaller cameras. I use the Flip with a ZipShot tripod….www.zipshottripod.com. It combines auto-deploying tent poles for legs with a head that can hold up to 3 lbs. Better yet, it weighs less than a pound and folds down small enough to fit into a back pocket or attach to a backpack. They say the best tripod is the one you take with you. Totally recommended for citizen reporters!

Looks cool, and fairly cheap. Also handy is the Gorillapod, which I own.

MORE: Reader Eric Soskin cautions against “talking down the economy.” Well, nobody was worried about that in 2008 — or, for that matter, 2007 and 2006, when the media were telling us that every American was Tom Joad. But, yeah.

1,100 Patriots Protest Obama Out in the Missouri Sticks

They called it a Freedom Rally.

(Jonathon Prouty)

Wow!… More than 1,100 patriots turned out to protest Barack Obama today in Macon, Missouri a town of 5,500.

1,100 protesters joined the Macon County Patriots tonight at Leo O’Laughlin Inc. (AP)

More than 1,100 tea party patriots and concerned Missourians rallied for freedom in Macon on Tuesday—just down the road from the site of President Barack Obama’s visit.

Several special guests addressed the Stand Up Missouri Rally, including Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer, Congressman Roy Blunt, Carl Bearden, state director of Americans for Prosperity-Missouri, former State Rep. John Loudon, and conservative activist Paul Curtman.

“Our common concern is that the country is literally being bankrupted by foolish ideas,” said Cindy O’Laughlin, an organizer of the rally. “Tonight, people from all around Missouri have spoken—and we are upset with the direction of this county! More than 1,100 people made our voices heard loud and clear, and Barack Obama can certainly hear us now!”

It was a lovely evening for a Missouri freedom rally. (Jonathon Prouty)

Accusations of racism is a key strategy of Obama and the Democrat BackRoom Gang who run him. Race was used in the 2008 campaign and is an integral part of Obama's 'virtual world', i.e., how he sees himself. Remember, Obama has little connection to the real world; he lives in a virtual world where he controls everyone.

We're going to see a lot more accusations of racism this summer and fall. The Democrats have to retain control of Congress to get their statist overhaul of the US accomplished. So, dividing up the population into adversarial groups at each other's throats - will prevent that same population from being aware how disastrous the effects will be, of this statist infrastructure.

Another strategy, besides racism and other divisions (age, gender, income) will be the use of the 'apocalyptic crisis' situation. Obama uses that extensively where he warns of 'utter collapse' if you don't pass his bills. He's used that in his stimulus, his cap and trade, health care, nuclear disarmament...it's the same scenario. Do what I say or the world will end. We'll see a LOT more of this tactic.

And the third Obama/Gang tactic is the redefinition of dissent from the right and duty of the patriotic citizen to an act of 'sedition'. Notice how dissent is being redefined as 'unAmerican', how the Tea Parties are being presented as 'extremist', as 'the same as terrorists'.

These three strategies are key tactics of the Obama and the BackRoom Gang who have one focus: Power. Note the wellbeing of America. Just power. Power to control others (that's Obama); and power to insert statism (that's the Democrat Gang).

TEAM OBAMA CALLS IN SWAT TEAM ON TEA PARTY PATRIOTS!

The SWAT Team was called in today at the Quincy Tea Party Rally. Obama was speaking at the Oakley-Lindsey/Quincy Community Center this afternoon.
Unreal.

They didn’t want any violence from these threatening protesters.

In Full Riot Gear!!

The patriots were singing “God Bless America” …A sure sign of violence.

They were worried about violence.

** Click On Photo For Video **

Local Quincy Tea Party Leader Steve McQueen was directing protesters when the SWAT team was called in.

Unbelievable.

More… Dee added:

SWAT was there because it looked like the ladies were going to break out in a BINGO game.

UPDATE: From our sources– A call came from inside the convention center to the Quincy police. The Secret Service unleashed the riot police on the tea party patriots.

IMMIGRATION: Dems Replaying May 2006 Tactic? “This plan is one of extreme provocation, and if the right allows itself to get sucked into it all -and defined by the left and the press – then the left will have won a huge PR battle, and that is the win they want.”
THEG sez: Maybe- but you have to do what is right, and illegal aliens are a big problem.

Why ‘tea party’ defenders won’t let N-word claims rest. “‘A bright line was crossed on the 20th,’ says Christina Botteri, a spokeswoman for the Tea Party Federation. ‘The left constantly attacks conservatives as racist, as dumb, as evil, but what happened on the 20th is a sitting congressman, with the full voice and credibility of the House of Representatives, accused a group of citizens with whom he philosophically disagrees of assault and then refused to help find the persons responsible. They need to help us find the people responsible or apologize for making it up’.”

Plus this:

Some in the mainstream press have conceded tea partyers may have a point. Washington Post reporter David Weigel has said the March 20 incident is a “paradigm shift” that shows conservatives how the media accept attacks on the right without doing due diligence. Politico’s Ben Smith, who keeps a close eye on the tea party movement, Tweeted a response to Breitbart about the lack of takers on the bounty: “I think you’ve pretty much won this one, no?”

Yes.

UPDATE: Reader Bob Tarone writes: “Although relatively balanced, the CSM article repeats the lie Representative Carson told the press about the CBC members being surrounded by a horde of tea party supporters (such that Carson thought they might throw rocks!). The numerous videos posted by Breitbart and others clearly show that the tea party crowd never even closed in on the Congressmen (who looked like they walked as close as possible to protesters, perhaps to provoke an incident) as they passed through a clear open aisle through the crowd. If Carson lied about being surrounded (which is undeniable), why should he be believed about the N-word?”

Florida's orange Governor, Charlie Crist (arrow), announcing his Independent bid for Senate in a time-traveling visit to the set of Diffr'nt Strokes

We really and truly don’t understand why Republicans are so averse to going for the throat, and really and truly ripping out the jugular, when it comes to people like Charlie Crist who so betray their constituents.

Crist should have been taken down a long, LONG time ago.  He should have been given the Eric Mass/Mark Foley treatment.

The skeletons in Crist’s closet are hot pink, bedazzled with rhinestones, clutching the collected recordings of Liza AND Barbara, on limited-edition collector’s vinyl.

His antics — and drag appearances  — at the Green Iguana in Tampa, Florida are legendary.  Crist’s political career should be so over that he needs to submit an application to move to Chicago and come work at The Baton, where his “Sweet Charlotte, Belle of the South” drag shtick might even land him a regular gig at Second City, should they find need for a Mrs. Garrett/Charlotte Rae impersonator.

The facts of life in Florida politics for the GOP are this:  Crist has been coddled and protected, with his many, many secrets kept from the public, for too long.

Do you not understand the simple fact that Democrats probably have photos of Crist not only nancing it up at the Green Iguana, like Tobias Funke, without any comical misunderstandings, but most likely dressed in full-on, sham-glam drag (and not in the way Rudy Giuliani used to do it, which was supposedly just for laughs)?

Democrats have a file on Crist.

Democrats wanted Crist to sabotage the GOP’s chances in this Senate race.

Crist, like Lindsey Graham in South Carolina, and other closeted gay Republicans out there, succumbs to Democrats’ blackmail and does their bidding — even when it’s against the best interests of their constituents, as well as their party.

Crist is the Democrats’ spoiler in the Florida Senate race.

We urge the GOP to break from habit and tradition and focus everything they have got in exposing Charlie Crist for the liar and fraud he really is.  Out him.  Get those photos of him from the Green Iguana.  Expose his sham of a marriage — to a novelty and fake beard heiress, no less.

Absolutely ruin this man by revealing every last one of his secrets, so he won’t be able to get so much as a seat on the board of a Key West bed & breakfast after this campaign is over.

Make an example of Charlie Crist.

So much so that Lindsey Graham might learn a lesson, so that he, too, stops bending over so readily and merrily whenever the White House or DNC bark their orders.

Florida’s orange Governor Crist must become TOAST.

Time for the GOP to man up and do unto Crist what Democrats would do to him, if he started out as a Dem and then switched to Independent to throw a race to Republicans.

Do you really think the DNC would let him get away with that?

So, why does the GOP allow a problem like Crist to persist?

April 28, 2010 at 2:30 pm

“So, why does the GOP allow a problem like Crist to persist?”

Where do I begin?
First, they have no balls. There, I said it. Sarah Palin alone has more testicular fortitude then all the men in the Republican leadership. Throw Michele Bachman in the mix, along with Liz Cheney and Ann Coulter, and they could run the whole country without breaking a sweat.

Second, Republicans were the minority party for about 40 years, and that is how they think. They do not understand power, nor do they know how to use it.

H/t Michelle Malkin

For almost a decade, the Kennedy Family has asserted its royal perogative to prevent construction of the Cape Wind Project, because it would spoil their views from the family palace at Hyannis Port.

Michelle Malkin’s reporting the Project was greenlit today, by Dr. Utopia’s administration.

So, let’s get this straight:

* the Administration allowed HRH Princess Caroline of Kennedy to be humiliated in her power grab for Hillary Clinton’s vacated Senate seat.  The White House not only allowed Princess to embarrass herself and twist in the wind, but afterwards it did not allow her to save sun-damaged, wrinkly horse face by making her ambassador to a country that might have wanted to have her around for four years.  Instead, the White House floated her as Vatican ambassador, but the Pope himself shot that down, humiliating Princess so much she didn’t leave Bergdorf-Goodman’s for WEEKS.

* Dr. Utopia personally cost the Kennedys “their seat” in the Senate, by bringing his Jessica Fletcher-touch to Martha Coakley’s campaign, killing her election chances, and giving her a little of the Princess Caroline treatment.  It’s hard to imagine a day in the future when Coakley is no longer a cautionary tale, let alone a laughingstock.

* the damage done by Princess Caroline and Dr. Utopia’s campaigning forced Kennedy cousin Chris to abandon his political plans, and for raging drunk Patrick Kennedy to choose retirement in 2010 (along with anything 100-proof and above on the cocktail menu).

* Dr. Utopia even took one of the Kennedys dogs, named it BO, after himself, and usurped their familial claim to that breed. It’s no longer “the Kennedy dog” in the way Scott Brown p-owned these “royals” and took away “the Kennedy seat”.

Sic Transit Gloria Kennedy.

Sic semper tyrannis.

ObergrupenFhurerMcPollster: AZ Governor Significantly More Popular Since Signing Immigration Law

—DrewM.

Compare and contrast....

No bounce for Obama post-Health Care (so says James Carville's poll).

Arizona Governor shoots up 16% in approval.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in the state shows that 56% now approve of the way Brewer is performing her role as governor. Two weeks ago, just 40% offered their approval.

The new figure includes 22% who Strongly Approve of the governor’s performance. That’s up from five percent (5%) before Brewer signed the law that authorizes local police to stop and verify the immigration status of anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant.

The bounce in the polls is also evident in new numbers on the November election. If Brewer is the Republican nominee, she would get 48% of the vote while her likely Democratic opponent, State Attorney General Terry Goddard, would attract 40%. Two weeks ago, it was Brewer 44% and Goddard 40%. Goddard is an outspoken opponent of the new law.

It can't be policy of course so it's obliviously racism!

Added: It really seems the left has over played its hand on 'racism' 'bigots', 'fascists' etc. They are like the boy who cried wolf and people are seeing that there simply isn't much behind the name calling.

Now it infuriates me when people like Olbermann, and random Op-ed writer at the Washington Post or NY Times goes off like they do but it's more personal than business. It's far more tiresome than it is effective.

It really seems that since the decline of Obama started about a year ago the left is simply playing to the base in hopes of holding the line as best they can. They aren't really trying to convince anyone, just rabble rouse.

Related enough: Geniuses want to boycott "Arizona Ice Tea". Problem is, it's a NY based company. Just another reason it's hard to take liberals seriously.

UH OH: It’s sweet old ladies! Call the SWAT Team!

Okay, I think they’re just in riot gear, not SWAT guys. But the optics are bad. More here: “Protesters sang ‘God Bless America’ and apparently that was enough to invoke the riot squad. . . . Who gave the order to call in the riot police on protesters? Word is that Secret Service from inside the venue and the presidential team pressured local law enforcement, who were against the idea.”

“Calling all cars: Be on the lookout for an insurrectionist with blue hair…”

What’s that phrase? Oh, yeah: “The people vs. the powerful.” Kind of like the treatment they gave gay rights protesters at the White House last week. The riot squad ain’t on the side of the people . . . .

I sure “hope” you like all that “change” you voted for, Ø-Merica...
Don't you ever forget- your children are still going to be paying the bills Duh!1 is racking up, long after you are dead and unremembered...

We’re recently big fans of Laura Bush, and hope to someday thank her in person for serving so well as a graceful, stylish, kind, patriotic, hard-working, and role model of a First Lady for 8 years.  Only after her successor moved in, and started her antics, did we come to reevaluate Mrs. Bush, since Michelle Obama has proved that not everyone can just automatically take the stage as a First Lady Americans can always be proud of (for the first time in their adult lives).

We need to admit, though, that during the great majority of the Bush presidency we bought into the attacks on Mrs. Bush, most especially when zeroed in on the car accident she caused back in high school, which killed classmate Michael Douglas.

Obviously, not the one in the movies (though, when seen next to Catherine Zeta-Jones, or out in daylight of any kind, it’s easy to be confused and think he’s in fact been dead for 40 years himself).

We thought Mrs. Bush should have been open and honest about the night Douglas was killed, but this was kept strictly out of bounds in any interviews Bush conducted while her husband was a candidate for president, or while he occupied the Oval Office.

She made a mistake, and it clearly haunted her, and we felt, at the time, she was hiding something about that night — perhaps drunk driving — so she needed to come clean.

We’ve since reevaluated that position, for several reasons, while reevaluating Mrs. Bush herself.

First off, we can’t begin to imagine what it would be like to be First Lady, or to be the spouse of even an unsuccessful candidate for office.  Here at HillBuzz, we’re attacked on a daily basis by the Left, occasionally in very personal terms, but it’s not 1/millionth of what Mrs. Bush endured.  Just imagine having the worst night of your life, something that’s a private torment, used as a political weapon against your husband.

The public’s need to know about that night does not eclipse or nullify Mrs. Bush’s own personal need to continue handling her torment in her own, quiet, Laura Bush way.  So, it was wrong for anyone to press her on this.  Very much unlike other presidential spouses, including Hillary Clinton herself, Mrs. Bush never made herself a part of the Bush presidency policy-wise, so George W. running for office was NOT promising “two for the price of one”.

Mrs. Bush fully intended to focus on being a First Hostess and literacy advocate in the White House, and decidedly, from Day One, made it clear she would not exert any influence over anything controversial or outside the First Spouse’s traditional purview.

As such, things Laura Bush may or may not have done as a teenager didn’t matter to anyone.  If she had been running for office herself, then she should have indeed answered questions about Michael Douglas’ death.  That would have gone towards her character as a candidate.  But, as the candidate’s spouse?  No — her personal torment in a very private matter should have been respected.

So, we deeply regret ever thinking ill of Mrs. Bush for not being open about discussing that terrible night, and we apology to her for ever believing there could have been drinking involved, and thus some determined conspiracy to avoid ever speaking about the accident.

Mrs. Bush has proved herself beyond reproach.  We trust her judgment.  We see her heart.  We know she is a good woman and a great believer in America. And we know she must wake up every day thinking about her classmate, Michael Douglas, and what she could have done differently 40 some years ago to save him.

The fact she shoulders this burden, and yet consistently remains a shoulder for other Americans in pain to lean on, makes us appreciate and respect this fine woman even more.

Mrs. Bush has a new book out that we CANNOT WAIT to read…it’s being released next Tuesday, and it’s called Spoken From the Heart.

We hope her book tour comes somewhere near Chicago, so we can thank her for her service to America in person, and get the chance to apologize to her for ever doubting her, and for ever believing the accident with Douglas was something any of us ever had any business talking about.

*******************

Because, honestly, not only is a picture worth thousands of words…but the comparison cannot be made more starkly enough.

Change.

Indeed.

"It caint happen here"--Registered For Confiscation

This isn't my Canada.

Recent initiatives by the RCMP, including the unilateral reclassification of several models of legally registered semi-automatic sporting firearms, including the Norinco Type-97A carbine and High Standard Model 10B shotgun, should be a wake-up call to all owners.

The Liberals promised Canadian gun owners that REGISTRATION WOULD NOT EQUAL CONFISCATION! However, letters sent out last month by the RCMP ordering legal owners to turn in their firearms for destruction, without compensation, within 30 days gives proof of the lie contained within that particular Liberal “promise.” If allowed to proceed unopposed, this new round of gun seizures and destructions establishes a dangerous precedent that puts the future of legal firearms ownership in jeopardy.

One of the worst results of the election of Barack Obama will be that long after he is gone, his projection of U.S. appeasement and weakness abroad will linger. Had Al Gore been POTUS on 9/11/01 – we would immediately have issued an indictment of Bin Laden in Federal Court and started looking for process servers to serve him papers in the caves at Tora Bora.

Activist: Just As I Was Composing An Essay About Standing Up Against "The Man," I Got Raped At Knifepoint By A Black Guy, And So, Of Course, I Blame Whitey More Than Ever

—Ace

Am I being punked?

It's on Alter-Net, a lefty site, but maybe they're being punked.

I strongly suspect, alas, I am not being punked. I think this is legit -- just written by a lunatic.

I am baffled. Not that she didn't suddenly go full-racist or something. Not that she doesn't suddenly become less leftist in outlook.

I just don't understand how her response after rape is to immediately intellectualize it, abstract it, politicize it, and decide that the World's Population of White Men Who Didn't Rape Her are in fact guilty of her rape, while the black guy who did rape her isn't.

You see, he was driven to rape due to the exploitation by the white man; the exploited often become the exploiters, due to their exploitation by the primary exploiters, and this is exploited by white men for their various hegemonic exploits.

Or something. I know the word "exploit" appears several times in her explanation.

We are frequently instructed by the Left not to indulge in racial scapegoating. I have to say there seems to be a rather large exception to that otherwise-ironclad rule, to the extent, apparently, that white guys get blamed even when a feminist lunatic is raped by a black guy.

The real rule, of course, is to engage in nonstop racial scapegoating of Whitey, and to in fact transfer the sin of any other racial group to Whitey.

If you've merely stopped racial scapegoating of one race and began the racial scapegoating of another, have you actually achieved enlightenment or progressive nirvana? Seems to me you're just substituting one thuggishly stupid impulse for another one.

Thanks to "Christian" -- Oh, what a giveaway!

Oh, by the way, Sugar -- I have an alibi.

I guess I'd take your rape more seriously if you did.

Financial Meltdown Reprise

US financial meltdown on 9-11-08.

Is the date of the financial meltdown just a coincidence? I don't think so. From the short video in the article:

On 9/11/08 at 11:00 am in the morning, $550 Billion was withdrawn from US money markets in about 1 hour starting an electronic run on the banks.

The Treasury pumped $105 Billion into the system, but quickly realized they could not stem the tide.

They then decided to close down the money accounts and announce a $250,000 guarantee per account to avoid further panic.

They believed that if they had not done that, then by 2:00 pm that afternoon (9/11/08) $5.5 Trillion would have been withdrawn from US money market accounts collapsing the US economy and within 24 hours the world economy.

This was a deliberate attack on the US.

Getting Real

The $10 Trillion Climate Fraud

Cap-And-Trade: While senators froth over Goldman Sachs and derivatives, a climate trading scheme being run out of the Chicago Climate Exchange would make Bernie Madoff blush. Its trail leads to the White House.

Lost in the recent headlines was Al Gore's appearance Monday in Denver at the annual meeting of the Council of Foundations, an association of the nation's philanthropic leaders.

"Time's running out (on climate change)," Gore told them. "We have to get our act together. You have a unique role in getting our act together."

Gore was right that foundations will play a key role in keeping the climate scam alive as evidence of outright climate fraud grows, just as they were critical in the beginning when the Joyce Foundation in 2000 and 2001 provided the seed money to start the Chicago Climate Exchange. It started trading in 2003, and what it trades is, essentially, air. More specifically perhaps, hot air.

THE DEFICIT COMMISSION: “Eighty-three percent (83%) of Americans say the size of the federal budget deficit is due more to the unwillingness of politicians to cut government spending than to the reluctance of taxpayers to pay more in taxes.”

But here’s the money quote: “Most Americans view the commission as cover for Congress to raise taxes.” You think?

ROGER SIMON: “The real reason liberals accuse Tea Partiers of racism is that contemporary American-style liberalism is in rigor mortis. Liberals have nothing else to say or do. Accusations of racism are their last resort.”

Arrows, by any other name, would still puncture a lung

There’s nothing more embarrassing to pragmatic “conservative” elites than when the bitterclinger “fringe” goes around calling Obama a “socialist” or “communist”. Simply gauche, such overstatements are — not to mention unhelpful: Obama loves the American ideal just as much as you or I, the argument goes, and to pretend otherwise is to distract from the more important work of finding a common ground upon which to govern.

He is a good man. And so wanting him to fail is tantamount to wanting America to fail — and only dodgy reactionaries and political hucksters out to exploit the fears of the knuckledraggers would dare venture into such untoward rhetorical territory.

A fine narrative, that — one that smacks of collegiality and good will, of post-debate clubs pints and rollicking, spirited dialogue among kindred spirits who all share, at the end of the day, the same ideological goals: a brushed and burnished land of the free, home of the brave.

Now. If only the fucking President would stop tracking shit all over that particular metaphorical carpet, perhaps we could sell it better. From his off-the-prompter remarks on Wall Street reform, Quincy, IL:

We’re not, we’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that’s fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money. But, you know, part of the American way is, you know, you can just keep on making it if you’re providing a good product or providing good service. We don’t want people to stop, ah, fulfilling the core responsibilities of the financial system to help grow our economy.

Listen carefully to what Obama is saying here: namely, that it is the “responsibility” of businesses and entrepreneurs to “help grow the economy” with the government as beneficiary. That is, it is the responsibility of the free man, according to Obama, to create wealth for the purposes of aiding the government in its own push to control market movement.

As Ed Morrissey rightly notes:

the responsibility of an entrepreneur isn’t to “grow our economy,” core or otherwise. It’s to grow his own economy. In a properly regulated capitalist system, the natural tension of self-interests create economic growth through innovation and efficient use of capital and resources.

Put simply, a free people work for themselves, not for the government.

Of course, when a free people are the government — as is intended within a representative republic — both happen simultaneously. But what Obama is indicating is a clear hierarchy, with government, and not the market, paramount.

You may not want to call this socialism or liberal fascism. But what it sure ain’t is market capitalism.

So yes. I hope he fails. Still.

There may be good reasons for Obama to go negative, but doing so could wreck his presidency.

Even Achilles had a heel, and Mr. Obama’s may be his decision to be his own Saul Alinsky. Defining, demonizing and making a mockery of one’s opponents was one of Alinsky’s main rules for community organizers. But community organizers, though often charismatic, can also be annoying jerks.

The only Barack Obama the American people have ever known is the one presented to them from January 2007 onward—the amazing, improbable fellow in “Dreams from My Father.” Candidate Obama was about as perfect as it ever gets. The best since JFK.

JFK, an imperfect man, worked hard to stay perfect in public. So did FDR and Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan. For Barack Obama to believe that any persona he offers the public will be OK with them is hubris. Showing voters a side of him that he enjoys, but many of them may not, is flirting with disaster. If all the positive vibe that held up his presidency on its first day ever breaks, the fall could be fast.

This kind of reminds me of Apple’s thuggish behavior in the iPhone case, and I think it’s unwise for the same reasons. Like Apple, Obama’s strength is mostly in the image department, and this behavior seems to undermine that.

What’s fascinating to us about the whole illegal alien situation with Mexico is that there seems to be absolutely no shame whatsoever in Mexico City that the country is so bad that millions of its people break the law to get away from it.

Florida's orange governor, Charlie Crist, tricked into believing Jason Wetherington was turned into a conch shell. By magic. "Curse you, Hogwarts, and all those wizards at Universal Orlando!".

Crist, after realizing the thing he was blowing...into...was not a 21 year old man turned into a conch shell.

Here’s something that occurred to us, as a hypothesis, that we’d love to get some research done on.

We had the idea when seeing a news clip from 2006 talking about Florida’s current orange Governor, Charlie Crist, back when he was Attorney General running to succeed Jeb Bush.  Many in Florida — and all in the political world — knew Crist was gay, but the MSM had no interest in reporting on this, and in fact did a big Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous spread on Crist when he had his Liza Minnelli/David Gest inspired wedding to fake-beard-and-novelty-products-heiress Carole Rome.  If there was a movie made about this marriage, it would star Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.  With costumes done by the ghost of Adrian.

We don’t remember Democrats putting up all that much of a fight against Crist in that Governor’s race.

We also never see Democrats put up all that much of a fight against Lindsey Graham in South Carolina.

Remember, he didn’t bother to go to his grandmother’s funeral or memorial – and she was the woman that raised him. (Of course, she was just “a typical white person.”)

Obama Takes Immigration Reform Off Agenda. “Immigration reform has become the first of President Barack Obama’s major priorities dropped from the agenda of an election-year Congress facing voter disillusionment. Sounding the death knell was Obama himself.”

Just days after Iran abandoned a high-profile bid for a seat on the U.N. Human Rights Council, it began a covert campaign to claim a seat on the Commission on the Status of Women, which is “dedicated exclusively to gender equality and advancement of women,” according to its website.

Obama's Racial Appeal

President Obama is transforming from being the "post-racial" to the most racial president. In a videotaped appeal made on behalf of the Democratic National Committee, Mr. Obama says he wants to "reconnect" with "young people, African-Americans, Latinos and women who powered our victory in 2008 [to] stand together once again." This attempt to reconnect reveals a substantial disconnect.

Mr. Obama is both president and Democratic Party leader, so political appeals of this type are a fact of life. In this case, Mr. Obama showed a degree of tone-deafness. The historic first black president of the United States should be more cautious than to explicitly call for race-based support. Such a frank appeal seeking to exploit ethnic and gender divisions reinforces the suspicion that Mr. Obama and his party do not represent the whole country. The subtext of the video is "white men need not apply."
