Critical Threats: Blank When None
Al Qaeda’s Yemen Connection, America and the Global Islamic Jihad

December 30, 2009 — The attempt to destroy Northwest Airlines flight 253 en route from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day underscores the growing ambition of al Qaeda's Yemen franchise, which has grown from a largely Yemeni agenda to become a player in the global Islamic jihad in the last year. Since merging with the al Qaeda franchise in Saudi Arabia last January and renaming itself Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), it has stepped up operations in Yemen itself, struck into Saudi Arabia, and now operates on the global stage. The weak Yemeni government of President Ali Abdallah Salih, which has never fully controlled the country and now faces a host of growing problems, will need significant American support to defeat AQAP.

Al Qaeda has long been active in Yemen, the original homeland of Osama bin Laden's family, and one of its first major terror attacks was conducted in Aden in 2000, when an al Qaeda cell nearly sank the USS Cole. A year ago, the al Qaeda franchises in Saudi Arabia and Yemen merged after the Saudi branch had been effectively repressed by the Saudi authorities under the leadership of Deputy Interior Minister Prince Muhammad bin Nayif. The new AQAP showed its claws last August, when it almost assassinated the prince with a suicide bomber who had passed through at least two airports on the way to his attempt on Nayif.

(snip)

The attack on the Amsterdam-Detroit flight also shows that al Qaeda remains obsessed with striking the American airline industry, a target it has gone after repeatedly since 1999. If AQAP has now been told by the al Qaeda core leadership to take on the job, we can probably assume that other al Qaeda franchises in North Africa, Iraq, Southeast Asia and elsewhere have also been pressed to attack.

Websearch for Illegal Immigrants march

Napolitano - Illegal immigration NOT a crime

On Sunday, April 19, 2009, Secretary Napolitano went on CNN’s “State of the Union” and proclaimed that crossing the border illegally is not a crime. This statement left a lot of folks scratching their heads given that U.S. law—the law Napolitano is sworn to uphold—says quite the opposite. Section 8, Title 1325 of the U.S. code clearly states that those who enter the U.S. illegally are committing a crime.

You might be a radicalized rightwing extremist if

“Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.”

You cannot ignore the context or the timing of this DHS report. It’s no small coincidence that Napolitano’s agency disseminated the assessment just a week before the nationwide April 15 Tax Day Tea Party protests.

Israeli Intelligence Company Monitors Radical Websites

Most of the analysts at Terrogence are former Israeli intelligence operatives. From a converted chicken coop in a village in central Israel they monitor Islamic internet sites devoted to global jihad and terrorism. Their mission is to identify new and credible threats against western targets.

According to Terrogence founder Gadi Aviran the online discussion ran to 25 pages and continued until a critical posting in late November by a known extremist with a proven track record in explosives. This individual has been monitored for several years and is widely respected by participants in the forums. His posting in Arabic read:

“You can ignite a detonator using a medical capsule and put concentrated sulphuric acid into it, and then put it over the explosive materials.”

They believe the “medical capsule” mentioned in the post could easily refer to a syringe as used in the attack on North West Flight 253.

Earlier, activists had detailed debates about how much chemical to use to avoid detection in airports and which liquids work best as a detonator.

After this posting Terrogence sent warnings to their clients around the world which include so-called “Western governmental agencies.”http://ow.ly/16gz1I

....upset over losing lawsuit over Social Security benefits...

After dealing with both organizations, I can't honestly tell if the IRS or SSA is the most autocratic and unresponsive. Filing suit against either one is the nearest thing I can think of to tilting at windmills.

The gunman who opened fire in the federal courthouse this morning, killing a security officer and wounding a deputy U.S. marshal, was Johnny Lee Wicks, according to a law enforcement source.

In 2008 Wicks filed a federal race discrimination complaint against a regional commissioner with the Social Security Division. Wicks’ complaint stemmed from an encounter he had with the regional commissioner at the social security office after learning his monthly social security payment would be reduced.

The security officer killed in the gunbattle was 65-year-old Stan Cooper, a retired Las Vegas police officer who worked for a federal contractor providing security at the courthouse, according to a source.

The gunman opened fire about 8 a.m. inside the lobby of the Lloyd George U.S. Courthouse, 333 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Las Vegas police spokeswoman Barbara Morgan said the shooter had been shot in the head.

“It looks like he went in there and just started unloading,” Morgan said.More>>> http://bit.ly/6comTF

Wait'll senior citizens start having their spouses be told they (under Obamacare) are no longer worth medical $$$ invested). Full force frustration hasn't even begun IMHO. Seniors have paid into this all their lives and now will be dismissed by democrats as unworthy to continue living.

Don't know if it affects anyone but us, but Mr. Mamadearest and I BOTH got letters from Social Security moving our checks a full week past what we already have been receiving them. I pity those affected by this change who have rent and utility bills due on certain dates and who depend on those checks on specific dates for those bills. The attack on the nation's elderly has already begun in full force in my opinion.

Given recent issues regarding transportation systems, an item like this could easily pass through a scanner if security screeners are not trained to look for them. Attacks onboard commercial aircraft on September 11, 2001 were conducted with blades smaller than this shown at left. Law Enforcement and Security Professionals should remain cognizant of items such as these. In cold weather suspects could easily conceal dangerous cutting weapons item like these in clothing.

We got our letters from SS on Saturday.....same thing here. Also no COLA this year. We have direct deposit to our bank with SS, but still a week to 10 days later. I think that moving the payments back a week will allow them to garner more interest money. Unfair? HELL, yes!!

New Zealand anyone???

Napolitano - Illegal immigration NOT a crime

Failure for those in charge of the nation's laws to demand those laws be upheld remains a good question about her competency and willingness to protect Americans from intruders, be they terrorist or illegal aliens (criiminal or not).

Obama to American workers - drop dead

Obama could put about 8 million Americans in jobs next week if he would only enthusiastically enforce existing immigration and employment laws today. As a longtime American who studies the organized crime that is illegal immigration......

Statistics from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement reveal significant drops in work site enforcement activity since last year. Administrative alien arrests (arrests of illegal aliens who will be placed into deportation proceedings) have dropped 68 percent.

Nationwide, criminal arrests are down 60 percent, criminal indictments have fallen 58 percent and criminal convictions are down 63 percent. Obama has rescinded the Bush administration's common sense "No-Match Rule" in which the Social Security Administration sent letters to employers when employees' names and Social Security numbers fail to match.

Hubby and I were thinking the same thing. Democrats are hoarding our social security money for some reason (definitely to help cover their gi-normous stimulus spending spree for one). Did you notice the notice did NOT include a reason why the change was effected?
