various links and websites

At the request of members, I am restarting those "Tales from the Dark UnderBelly Of the Beast"-- the stories and issues that the press and media either ignore, won't even talk about, or will mention once and forevermore claim "it's old news..."
Naturally, some will be stories which interest me, or things I think we all need to be aware of.
I am experimenting with a minor change in presentation- when I can, I will cut to
-GoogleNewsBeta--
with a keyword or two and see what kind of links to "mainstream" stories I can find in contrast to what we see here and on other sites.
May I remind you of a couple of points to bear in mind?
Each link usually has many other links within- follow them all to get "the rest of the story."
Don't forget the "open multiple browsers" trick with control-n -- this allows you to hold your place with one, and use the others to follow links, run searches, etc.
Rather than go back and rehash old links, I'll give you links to the original posts here:
-DUBOB 10- the *best of* the Dark Underbelly Series--
-DUBOB 9-- even *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast..... --
DUBOB 8-- still *more* tales from the Underbelly***
DUBOB 7-- even *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast.....
DUBOB 6-- yet *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast.....
DUBOB 5-- even *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast.....
DUBOB IV- yet more Tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast-
DUBOB III -- "Tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast"
DUBOB 2-- more tales from The Dark Underbelly of the Beast-- thread II

The witless challenge the wits

I was watching Booknotes today. Franken and Alterman were paired against Ingraham and Tucker Carlson. It was hysterical. At the end, Laura directed her statement to Franken about all the Bush is stupid, Bush is a moron, Bush is Hitler, and all Bush does is lie, lie, lie. Laura said, "you know what .. the public is not buying that". That ended the show, and Franken could not reply.
Guess W should have worked a little harder to keep his base then. God knows he lost my vote the day he signed CFR. The rest of this lunacy just reinforces my decision.
(Energy) Bill Fuels Global Warming
The Albuquerque Journal (subscription required) ^ | Saturday, January 17, 2004 | Stanley R. Euston, New Mexico Conference of Churches
A good example of how the radical enviromentalists have taken over church opinion makers. The author is just regurgitating the same old left-wing mantra of big oil=global warming=corruption=George W. Bush, but has added the "Chicken Little" scenario that it will mean global flooding, famine, disease, death and the end-of-the-world!

Even if I was to be convinced that there was little health danger from flies coming out of the toilet and landing on food, how would I convince my guests that it was OK?"

This is more about state-funded day care than anything else. Makes day care "free" to all and more mommies can leave their kids and go to work (to pay the taxes this plan will require).
"Now they have more vote buying schemes, the biggest of which is the drum beat for government provided health care, this will be the ruin of America..."

McCain-Reed Gun Show Bill: All Trick, No Treat
NRA-ILA website ^ | 11/4/2003 | unknown
This article is from last November, but I didn't see it posted to the lists anywhere, so here it is now. I just received a call from the NRA which claimed that the supporters of this bill (all the usual suspects) are looking to get this to the floor of the Senate for a vote sometime this week. A very bad bill -- basically, a replay of McCain/Liberman's S. 890, which seeks to close down gun shows.

I still remember in the early 70's the predators and parasites we call politicians promised the american people that we would never be held hostage by OPEC again.
They were going to do everything possible to make sure that we develope alternate fuel sources. Here we are 30 years later and not a dam thing has changed. I have a feeling that we are about to see a repeat of those days, only on a magnitude much greater.

The media and the left are screaming about this which is a pretty good sign.
I'm glad someone else see's the media's manipulative hand in all of this. What I'm really worried about is the hand behind the curtain, aka, the Clintons.
Escaping the 'plantation': Rebecca Hagelin reveals inside story of Star Parker's success

Dennis Prager: Why Democrats Use the F-Word
Town Hall ^ | January 20, 2004 | Dennis Prager [Creators Syndicate]
The Democratic Party has become the party of White Trash. Whether rich or poor, famous or anonymous, the Democrats are dragging the culture down. Saying the "F-word" anytime one wants is not freedom. Being free to, but not, is. The Democrats have confused freedom with bad taste and manners.

What a difference a year makes.
The map above has been updated to reflect the number of children murdered by surgical abortion in this past year, about 1.4 million in the U.S., roughly half the population of Mississippi, shaded in red. When added to the 17 states in black, this equals a population of 44,000,000. It's the sickening truth America,

These kinds of lawsuits make me sick. So many good OBs don't even want to practice any more because of these horrible suits.
Is it too much to hope that this SOB will one day end up in an emergency room under the care of one of the doctors he sued?

Dean Explains 'Explosive' Speech [tries to explain away crazed remarks]
Washington Post ^ | 01/20/2004 | Fred Barbash
Enough were "taken in" by Clinton. TWICE. That was pretty frightening, too. Eight years worth of Twilight Zone insanity. A combination of Twin Peaks, Porky's and The Dukes of Hazard . Heck, the libs even shrugged their shoulders, "Well, so what he raped a few women when he was younger..." That was surreal. Disgustingly absurd. Face it, nearly the half the country is completely bananas. Morally insane. Diabolically disoriented.

The internet has been a political force for about ten years. The networks are being shortcircuited by sites like FR and all the blogs and the shaped political messages aren't as effective as they used to be.

What You Dont Know About John Kerry
Newsmax. ^ | Jan. 20, 2004 | Chuck Noe
It's about time somebody put together the real biography of John Kerry. All one hears nowadays is his "Vietnam hero" lines. Before this campaign is over, he will rival the exploits of Kennedy in PT-109.
The Media is lapping it up.
"Lunatic fringe soundbite"
Nice find. The RATS have gotten a bit more clever in their gun-grabbing efforts, but they still want the same thing they've always wanted: recension of the 2nd Amendment and confiscation of all privately owned firearms. Which reminds me, I need to renew my membership in the NRA. Screw 'em.
Arnold can save lots of cash by closing down all of California's Enviral bureaucracy since the feds are now in charge.
