Message for Chuck DeVore (Do what is right for your country)

Posted on 05/07/2010 10:51:05 PM PDT by se_ohio_young_conservative

I am from Ohio so I don't really have a dog in this fight.

But over the last couple of days. The situation in California has divided the Republican Party nationally. There is a lot of in-fighting. A lot of people who are fighting. Sarah Palin is being attacked for no good reason.

I think the solution is simple. You are not going to win the nomination. Put out the fire, fold up the tent and support the best of the last remaining two candidates.

With you on the ballot, the only possible roll you have is spoiler. So please, for the sake of your country and conservatives...lets mend fences. We need to look forward to November.

With all of this in-fighting. We do not look like a team that is marching toward victory. that needs to change real fast. Our country is in trouble.

Devore already knows it is something to consider at some point, he will probably want to see how the debate and this endorsement turn out, as far as creating movement in the polls, before he is willing to make any decision.

The primaries are created so the candidates battle it out and then there is one winner. What is your problem with that?

The problem is that the openly proabortion, openly, pro-homo, and gay marriage, and rabidly anti gun, Tom Campbell looks like the winner at this point if Fiorina cannot gain the few points needed to take him down.

This race is close to ending, Devore isn't going anywhere and is way in the back (he never left there), and the pro life/NRA member, Fiorina is about 4 to 7 points behind Campbell

I’m in california and i don’t like any of the candidates for senate or governor.

On this point, I agree. Therefore, as a CA "decline to state" I am going to exercise my opportunity to vote against Boxer twice. First in the primary, where I will vote for Mickey Kaus, and second in the general where I will vote for whomever is the GOP nominee. I will thoroughly enjoy this exercise.

my problem with that is that this turned into a 24/7 Palin Bash marathon She supported a friend. She is loyal. If I see one more person call her a RINO im going to pull the hair out of my head.

She supported a friend RINO. How many does that make?

Obviously, the republicans do not follow Sarah blindly - - can’t say as much about the Democrat Cult.

I have an idea for you: Why don’t you tell the Rockefeller Republican (Campbell) and the McCain Republican (Fiorina) to BUZZ OFF? I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA. GET RID OF YOUR DEM GOVERNOR AND DO SOME GOOD WORK IN YOUR OWN STATE — BEFORE YOU TRY TO HELP ME IN CALIFORNIA.

Here is the Palin-endorsed Fiorina’s record.

Is Carly Fiorina a conservative?

* She supported the Wall Street bailouts.

* She supported Cap and Trade.

* She supported the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayer.

* She has criticized the new Arizona immigration law.

* Before she was fired as the CEO of Hewlett-Packard, she allowed the company to sell technology to Iran.

* And last year when liberal Democrats and moderate Republicans were trying to push through a massive tax increase in a California referendum, Carly Fiorina had “no comment.”

By the way, who DO YOU SUPPORT IN ARIZONA — the RINO McCain or Hayworth? We’ll find how conservative you are.

In spite of the carping by some of the numbskulls on this thread, your post was very sound. If Devore gave a d-— about advancing conservatism, he would do just what you recommend. Matthews tried to get him to say how he and Fiorina differed on the issue of abortion. He kept saying, “I have a track record (i.e.- As a career politician, I have voted on this issue)” What he doesn’t say is that his “track record” has not made a bit of difference in California, the most proabort state in the Union.

Before the Palin endorsement, I was afraid that his quixotic and anemic campaign was going to make a big difference-—and not for the good-—by assisting Tom Campbell and setting up an all proabort general election.

But Sarah’s endorsement by itself probably cut Devore’s 10% of the vote in half. And Devore’s cry baby reaction (which stands in stark contrast to JD Hayworth, who is still in the hunt against McCain in AZ) further reduced him to low single digits and marked the end of his career. It turns out he uses his state employees to do campaign work on the taxpayer’s dime.....Some conservative.

The people who attacked you are the same crowd (or their lineal descendants) who attacked Ronald Reagan in 1979 and 1980 as not conservative because he picked Dick Schweiker for his running mate in 1976 and campaigned for the liberal Chuck Percy for the US Senate from Illinois. Some of them peeled off and supported Phil Crane who got only as far as the New Hampshire primary before Reagan buried him there and he was never heard from again.

You are in very good company. Keep up the good work.

If Fiorina cannot win the primaries then she cannot win the general elections. It is that simple.

Which really isn't the point, she is poised to pull off a win with just a little more support, I was making note of your indifference to whether she or Tom Campbell wins.

Campbell is so far off the charts that he is a real problem.

If Devore doesn't see gains after this debate and the Palin endorsement then the thread poster does not want him to serve as the vehicle to make Tom Campbell the GOP choice for the Senate race.

Exactly. Palin mentioned in her Facebook post Carly Fiorina “fights through a tough primary against a LIBERAL member of the GOP (Campbell) who seems to bear almost no difference to Boxer, one of the most leftwing members of the Senate.”

Folks, here you have the raison d’etre for Palin’s endorsement of Fiorina. It was done not to knock Devore but to acknowledge the reality of Devore’s 13% and that Fiorina had a better chance to topple Campbell.
