The murder of four police officers in a suburban Seattle coffee shop on Sunday took a decidedly political turn when it was discovered that the prime suspect in the killings was once granted clemency by Mike Huckabee.

Jindal, Sanford, Gingrich and Huckabee are out. Sarah’s likely primary foes are dropping left and right on the way to 2012. And if no surprise strikes us in the meantime... Romney will be defeated by Conservatives in 2012.
I had heard of his clemency problem before. I suppose it was only a matter of time until something like this took place.
Clemency should be used very rarely. A lot goes into a conviction. A sitting governor cannot expect to understand a case as well as the prosecutors and original jurors.
If we’re going to commute sentences at will, what good is our system of justice. It said over 700 times to Huckabee and company that the justice system got it wrong. Do they really think the courts are that screwed up?
The court system may not be perfect, but I sure don’t know of a better system to replace it.

Huckabee will no doubt claim that this issue is Satan’s plot to divide Christians.
Look I like Palin for a lot of reasons but she does have some pro choice views on abortion, though she is personally pro life. She is not a perfect conservative on every issue and she will disappoint some who expect her to be so. Even accounting for the malicious hyping of her family’s issues in the blogs and media...she HAS family issues that will be a distraction for her.
A lot of otherwise conservative moms I talk to won’t vote for her because of the “child” issue, even when I point out the fact that these mom’s are working late hours to support their own problem laden children. Societal norms and politics are at cross purposes. These moms don’t like Obama but will vote for him over Palin or simply not vote at all if there are no strong male conservative candidates!
This country is trending towards civil war and most folks know it in their guts. The only way out is for a great spiritual re-awakening but this will involve out and out divorcement with our love of lust laden, violence soaked medai driven materialism that even many Christians have fallen into. A return to our first Love, Jesus Christ is what is necessary....with-out that, our nation is doomed!
