America Held Hostage- the Obama Files...

With a hattip to Rush ( His idea during the Clinton plague upon America ) I am starting a file on “The One,” mostly starting from the election date.

Older stuff- links, quotes, quips, and sometimes pointed graphics can be found by scrolling back from these two posts:

-Hillary Clinton- archives, comments, and opposition research--

-Sarah Palin- links, from the beginning--

There is some good material in those posts that raises a lot of uncomfortable questions that everyone ought to be asking, and probably will once the “new” wears off, and we are stuck with four ( more likely eight, since 95% of the news & entertainment media are in his pocket ) years of a typical corrupt Chicago Political Machine Politician trying to jerk the whole country in one direction and then the next.

You've all heard the saying,

”People get the kind of government they want...
...and deserve?”

Well, America, you are about to “get it, good & hard...”

Don't say you weren't warned- we tried to tell you...

We did everything we could, and our state went for the Old Guy & the Naughty Librarian, but too many other voters were made stupid by the TV and public schools for it to matter.

We're in a Hell of a mess, and the worst thing is, "we"- the collective we, not you & I-- got us here.

Is Obama really the Abyss...

staring back at us?

I like to make points with humorous graphics- this one sums it up as well as any:

Then, in a nutshell, "everything I see going bad with all this hopi- changi- stuff The One is peddling-- forced labor, censorship, spin, and pure mean-spirited rudness:

Email of the day

Atlas readers rock! I am blown away by the overwhelming response to this post  (and this one) to get involved to take back our country from the Soros, socialists, and the self proclaimed messiah - oy. More than one email brought a tear to my eye but I wanted to share this one with you.

If this best represents who we are, what we want and where we are going, there is no way we can lose. Greatness is in the house. I am proud to count you as my friends. Prouder still to stand with you and fight this great fight.

I want to lead a county.

I was born in Cuba, and know the language of Communism, Obama speaks it well.  My grandfather's family had to flee Lebanon because of the Muslims to Cuba. We fled Cuba because of Castro.

This is the best country in the whole wide world.  I was a child when I left Cuba with the clothe on my back, we left my parent's sister and I, left behind everything.

America is Worth fighting for and Freedom is worth defending.  I do not want my children to grow up in oppression, nor do I wish exile upon them.

Please allow me to help, again, Id like to lead a county.

My name is Ingrid and Im in Miami, in Miami Dade County

May the Light always shine upon America,

Ingrid

UPDATE: In case there was any doubt as to what the victorious zombies have in mind. Check out this comment (left in the comment section) . Can you say rude awakening?

You people are pathetic!

Your racist fear mongering will not go unchallenged!  Soon we will shut down your hate spewing web sites.  We will confiscate your firearms.  In prison, you will get an education on the error of your ways.  We will take your children and raise them as our own and instill in them the values of social justice.  We will have a new American Republic of justice and order for all!

You time is almost up!  Prepare for the dung heap of history!

It sounds insane (which it is) but I believe the writer is quite serious.

"We will confiscate your firearms. In prison, you will get an education on the error of your ways. We will take your children and raise them as our own and instill in them the values of social justice".....

Heh heh heh....I am sure you are serious, but that is funny!

Values of social justice....like Mao? Stalin? Lenin? Ho-chi Min? Pol Pot? Which of these butchers of social justice did you have in mind?"

170,000,000
That's the number of civilians that have been murdered by their own governments in the 20th century alone.

Innocents Betrayed is a must see video produced by Jews for the Preservation of Firearms (scroll down to see links to view the Introduction to Innocents Betrayed)

Now consider Obama's 'civilian defense force' which he intends to fund and equip as well as our standing military coupled with his promise to revisit the second amendment (repeal concealed carry privilege) and then compound this injury with Ayers' inspired youth corps.

CHANGE.GOV OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT ELECT (hat tip rut)

Obamessiah has a new site up as President-elect soliciting ideas form the proletariat.
Let's hope it doesn't become the hub for the hate whitey and Jew boy Obamavomit that his last site was.

Surf the site. Take note. Keep your eye on the The Obama National Service Plan- the page is empty (how apropos) but that piques my interest.

President Obama To Bring Back Slavery

Just in case anyone think Mr. Obama is not serious about this, bear in mind that his new Chief of Staff wrote a book demanding this very thing:

Amazon.com: The Plan: Big Ideas for America: Rahm Emanuel, Bruce Reed: Books
http://www.amazon.com/Plan-Big.....038;sr=1-1

Don’t forget they want a Gestapo/KKK civilian force the size of the pentagon to keep everybody inline and things running smoothly.

“Suddenly, all mention of “required” has been disappeared. ”

SOME THOUGHTS ON OBAMA'S mandatory volunteerism plan. Plus, reader Nancy Anne Potts writes:

Looks like the change.gov site is true to it's title - it changes!

During the time when I was looking at the blog you linked to concerned mandatory community service the change.gov page saying "require community service" changed to goal for community service. The new wording is:

"..... Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free."

I found the the cached page on Google it has the original "required" wording.

Looks like they caught their "mistake". Now will the real plan please step forward -- goal or required. (Although the way government sets goals, they often wind up looking like requirements so maybe the two aren't all that different.)

Ugh! I see card check made the economy page too. He may be the president elect but I don't have to like his plans!

Not until the second term. Then that will be made mandatory, too . . . .

Meanwhile, Robert Bidinotto comments: "Anyone recall what the Soviets used to do to history books?" The Obama folks have a history of airbrushing.

IF YOU VOTED FOR MCCAIN, you're a racist. Just in case nobody had bothered to tell you.

President-elect Barack Obama's First Press Conference - Complete Video 11/7/08

Obama Mocks Nancy Reagan in 1st Press Conference

It's  classless to mock a frail, elderly woman. (Note he was not kind in his revelation about his own "typical white person" grandmother, either.)

It's even worse to mock the widow of a great former president. Whatever you think of her, she deserves respect.

Especially classless was mocking Nancy Reagan on stage, before hundreds of reporters and television cameras, knowing the "joke" would be heard by millions. This wasn't some private remark that got picked up by a live mike.

On Concerns Over Gun Control, Gun Sales Are Up

From "Change.gov", the official transition website. Agenda tab and then select "urban policy" and go down to "Crime Control".

Address Gun Violence in Cities:
As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

There will be no one left to protect you
Barack Obama wants to institute a Civilian National Security Force, a vast militia not unlike Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, a personal army. He knows he would need such a force to protect him and to enforce his will on Americans. Americans will have not seen such arbitrary power used against them since the days of the Civil War when Lincoln put the Constitution in the bottom drawer of his desk and set about arresting anyone who opposed his policies...

Hmmmm... this one is very difficult. I was in the military, and we were taught we salute the uniform, not the man. So I respect the office, not the man. However, I am adopting a wait and see. If Obama governs as if he cares about America, even if we disagree, I can accept that. If Obama governs as I expect, like a Manchurian candidate who is bent on America’s deconstruction, that is when he will disqualify himself as being my president.

An array of other advocacy groups are stepping forward with their priorities for the new Congress.

Barack Obama: The Kingfish Reborn

Do Unto Obama As Liberals Did Unto Bush

Coal stocks plummet. Average 15%, many over 30% since Tuesday Gee, wonder why?

Kate, this is important and you should listen to it. It's about Obama's cult of personality and it is short.

From the blogs- and, always, read the Anchoress:

Bush, Obama, & Ghosts of Hate - UPDATED

“The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country.” Lincoln’s Second Annual Message to Congress, December 1, 1862.

I would love nothing better than to be able to stop writing about “left” and “right.” I wish we had a better vocabulary to describe our distinctions, because these words are limiting and off-putting. I am determined, with the merciful conclusion of this abusively long election season, to work diligently at spending less time entertaining these distinctions. But for today, I think it is only fair to note a very important and glaring difference between “left and right” - and in so doing - consider how we may, finally, stop needing to indulge in what is tedious.

Victor Davis Hanson
says Let’s not imitate the left in our opposition. I agree.

It has been wonderful - really beyond wonderful - to consider how differently most of the right has reacted to their defeat than the left did in 2000 and 2004. In the two previous elections, the left responded by calling the other half of the country “stupid,” “morons,” and “Nazis” - Jane Smiley called them “unteachably ignorant” - they indulged in high drama, sniffling “apologies” to the globe, and denunciations of their fellow countrymen as “lying between repugnant and reptile in the dictionary.”

And oh, yeah (eyeroll) George W. Bush was not “their” president.

While you’ll see a few disgruntled extremists on the right say foolish, even ignorant things - and many throwing daggers at the sickening double-standards of the press - they’re not indulging in that sort of dehumanizing (and very adolescent) hate of their fellow countrymen or the president-elect. The reports they’re filing read very differently than those following the Bush wins. They read as grown-up, tolerant, open-minded discourses, not tantrums. There is a willingness to be hopeful, even in defeat.

And there is a determined respectfulness being offered to the winners - people who could not manage maturity and respectfulness in their defeat and who, sadly, are not always managing it in their victory, either.

I’m hopeful that the left - if it takes the time to actually condescend to notice how well it is being treated by the vanquished - might consider that self-indulgent defamation is the lesser way; that such a consideration may inspire introspection, and perhaps the smallest bit of regret for some of their appalling excesses toward the right and toward the American President who did not return hate in-kind.

I’m hopeful. I’m an optimist. I KNOW that the folks on the right - for all of their faults, and both sides certainly have faults - want America to be successful and strong and exceptional and free. I’m hopeful that hugely empowered left will discover that - beyond the feel-goodism of “free social programs” which are never free -they actually, really do want all of those things, too. That they’ll look back on the last 8 years and realize, finally, that their enemy was never George W. Bush. Bush, the guy who never dehumanized them, was only trying serve those corny ideals.

And then, miraculously, we may actually have unity.

Some similar thinking from my girl crush, Donna Brazile:

“The one mistake that we continue to make is that we label people. We say you’re conservatives, liberal, progressive, right wing, left wing. I think people just want to spend one day being Americans. They want to come together around a common purpose, common values.”

I wondered the other day if the catharsis of this election might open up “a vein of generosity” (or at least decency) from the left as concerns President Bush. I have not seen it yet, but I’m going to be optimistic and keep looking.

But maybe it’s enough just to see a little appreciation from the right, to start. Like this, for instance:

I link, therefore, I Err has a little mini-round-up of appreciation for George W. Bush. You’ll want to read it all.

From Alppuccino at Protein Wisdom:

At 10:40, President Bush will keep his streak alive by telling everyone how much he loves America. Just as he always has. And he’ll show everyone how much he loves America by preparing Obama as best he can for the next 4 years.

Read it all; it’s doubtful that Obama’s team will come into the White House finding O’s missing from their keyboards, any rude messages greeting them. And that is how it should be in America, a respectful transition.

Michael Gerson:

Many liberals refuse to concede Bush’s humanity, much less his achievements.

But that humanity is precisely what I will remember. I have seen President Bush show more loyalty than he has been given, more generosity than he has received. I have seen his buoyancy under the weight of malice and his forgiveness of faithless friends. Again and again, I have seen the natural tug of his pride swiftly overcome by a deeper decency — a decency that is privately engaging and publicly consequential.

[In 2005]…the White House senior staff overwhelmingly opposed a new initiative to fight malaria in Africa for reasons of cost and ideology…In the crucial policy meeting, one person supported it: the president of the United States, shutting off debate with a moral certitude that others have criticized. I saw how this moral framework led him to an immediate identification with the dying African child, the Chinese dissident, the Sudanese former slave, the Burmese women’s advocate. It is one reason I will never be cynical about government — or about President Bush.

Jeffery Scott Shapiro:

[The treatment of President Bush] from this country is nothing less than a disgrace. The attacks launched against him have been cruel and slanderous, proving to the world what little character and resolve we have…Our failure to stand by the one person who continued to stand by us has not gone unnoticed by our enemies. It has shown to the world how disloyal we can be when our president needed loyalty — a shameful display of arrogance and weakness that will haunt this nation long after Mr. Bush has left the White House.

Until we fix, within ourselves, our enthrallment with hate for others, simply because they hold differing views, we’ll never pull it together. In 2006 we watched a right-wing blogger be called less than human by a left-wing reader. We’ve seen President Bush being referred to as “the chimp” and “the monkey” by the wits who insisted that ideology trumped having a decent respect for another’s humanity. I wrote about that a little here:

Thus, George W. Bush is “Chimpy McHitler.” Hillary Clinton is “a pig in a pantsuit.” Barack Obama is “O-Bambi.” Cindy McCain, who has exhibited some courage and laudable compassion in her life, is reduced to a “pill-popping beer-frau,” and so forth. From there it is smooth sailing down an ever-descending river of hatred, until we are incapable of seeing anything good in the “other,” both because we have willfully hardened our hearts, and because our hate — especially when it is supported by a group of like minds — feels safe and inviolable.

With that in mind, you’ll want to read this excellent piece over at Conversion Diary, wherein Jenifer ponders pictures from a Nazi-era photo album and wonders, how such common-variety people managed to support and enable such profound evil.

One thing that stands out in all these examples is that the victims of the widespread evil were categorized as something less than human…not only that innocent people were killed or enslaved, but that their humanity was taken away by the societies around them…So here is the advice I would offer to my children, and to my children’s children:

Every decade or so, take a look around the society in which you live, and ask yourself if there is any group of human beings who are seen as something less than human. A big tipoff is if dehumanizing words — terms other than “man,” “woman,” “child,” “baby,” or “person” — are used to describe any category of people.

And if you ever see that going on, you might be in the midst of something gravely evil.

Dehumanizing people begins with baby-steps like name-calling, or the sort of intellectual dishonesty that delights in deliberately twisting the meaning of others in negative and misrepresentative ways. Those are the little gateways to the great evils that come once you’ve managed to thoroughly de-humanize others.

We’ve had 8 years - I’d say 12, really - of people demonizing and dehumanizing others, from both sides, and it is not getting us anyplace good. I believe that the response of most of the right to Obama’s victory is a step toward changing that. But the left has to do their part, too.

Pope Benedict XVI said, “those who hope live differently.” The election of Barack Obama was borne on this word, “Hope.”

If the people who voted for “hope” were sincere, then let them begin, today, to embrace it - and to live differently - without the kneejerk move to hate “the other side.” The right, responding levelly to their defeat, has offered the opening. Will the left take it?

UPDATE: Seems some will. Here is mostly accurate, and apprecited praise from a surprising quarter:

Would America have elected Barack Obama if white Americans had not gotten accustomed to seeing (in succession) two African-American Secretaries of State? I don’t think so. Before Bush, African-Americans were appointed to some good posts but not to our #1 foreign policy job. Two African Americans (one with a pretty odd first name) served as America’s face to the world. That eased Obama’s way. It is not Tiger Woods in whose footsteps Obama is walking — it’s Rice and Powell….Fact is, “W” never gave any evidence of holding racist attitudes…even just the slur the occasionally slips out of the mouth of even our most liberal leaders.

Same with Arabs and Muslims…Bush, after 9/11, never resorted to anti-Arab or Muslim stereotypes. He drew distinctions between terrorists and Arabs…Had he not done these things, Arabs and Muslims might have experienced not just hate crimes but pogroms.

Meanwhile, from Grand Rants:

Here is a man who is regularly compared to Hitler in casual conversation in Leftist circles high and low. His honor has been regularly impugned, his intelligence (or, as the press loves to put it, his “intellectual curiousity”) constantly demeaned, his verbal stumblings consistently mocked, and his accomplishments in office discounted or ignored. He is a man who kept his head down and did his job, despite the slings and arrows hurled at him by fortune made all the more outrageous by nearly the entire Democratic party.

I for one, would like to say thank you to Pres. Bush. For keeping us safe. For watching out for us. For persevering in spite of all the spite. I believe history will ultimately judge you as one of America’s best presidents, and I believe you deserve that judgement.

H/T to Opinionated Catholic, who writes:

The throwing under the bus of the President by even his friends and indeed the base has been shocking to me. Many groups will find out soon enough how they took Bush’s support and advocacy for them for granted, Catholics, especially.

Meanwhile, Jules Crittenden is beginning to enjoy Omerica, Quin Hillyer is saying America is over, kaput, finished, Evan Thomas suddenly finds Obama “slightly creepy” and when you refuse to release medical records, and the press doesn’t care…conjecture begins about your mental health.

Forty-Fourth President, Twelfth Imam

by Baron Bodissey

O-Man’s Fibonacci spiral haloThe election results were long expected, but now that the day has arrived it’s quite a letdown, anyway. Reading about the joy expressed by Hamas and Syria and Italy and Indonesia… contemplating Obama’s Secretary of State, or (God help us) Defense… Thinking about the USA becoming just like Sweden, only with a real army, and aircraft carriers, and nukes… First Lady Michelle…

It’s all too depressing.

So, as is my habit in such circumstances, instead of writing a post this evening or doing something else useful, I created yet another iconic image of The One. After looking around at some of his existing halos, I decided to make one myself. A man can’t have too many halos, right?

And then I pondered the phenomenon of halos appearing behind the heads of great national leaders, men who are born into modest Muslim circumstances, but in time become presidents of large countries that have nuclear weapons. It made me think of…
- - - - - - - - -
Mad Jad’s HaloMahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Ol’ Mad Jad got his halo when he went to visit the UN a couple of years ago. It appeared behind his head while he was speaking. Not only that, his audience was held in such rapt attention by his words that they were unable to blink for thirty minutes. We know all this is true because he told us so.

I wonder how many other resemblances there are between him and Barack Hussein Obama.

Ahmadinejad sees himself as preparing the way for the Twelfth Imam, as a sort of satanic John the Baptist for the man who is prophesied to return and usher in the apocalypse preceding the establishment of the permanent reign of Islam over the entire world.

And Obama’s got a bigger halo.

Does that mean…? Nah — it couldn’t be… But still… It makes me wonder…

What if the One were also the Twelfth?

Note to the literal-minded: this post is for fun, not to be taken seriously. Given the circumstances, it’s the only fun I’m likely to have for quite a while.

We may have to set up a “Free Republic in Exile” like Degaulle did when the Nazis overran France, but we’ll manage.

Some realistic things to expect early in the Obama Administration

I work in Chicago. I deal with a great many attorneys in my job, many of whom are staunch Dims and breathless Obambi supporters; some were even active in his campaign. More than one told me that at or near the top of Obambi’s agenda is a new Hate Crimes bill, with a wide expansion of what will be considered a hate crime

Didn't you notice that Obama is a conservative?  "Obama is, in his own words, something of a Rorschach test. Well, after the 2006 debacle, I wrote this:

I will continue to update this:

But I'm just burned, and bummed out. The elections. The sellout of Israel. The Moonbats. The Stupid Party. The Evil Party.

Then again, after yesterday there's this:

”Zimbabwe On The Potomac...”

You know there were warning signs...

I kept telling people when Bill Clinton slithered in to office, and clung to it, despite all the scandals, and Impeachment itself-- “He's just a symptom. Like a fever is of a disease- there's something wrong with America.”

Like Popular Culture- look at the magazines-- I call it “thugs & jugs,” or “which Pop Tart is popping out whose baby this week?”

Or Katrina- ever seen so many people milling around with their hands out, when they should have been helping themselves?

We did it to ourselves, and The New, Improved Black Jesus is merely a symptom.

All civilizations have a shelf life- once enough citizens figure out that by electing the “right” representatives, they can use the power of the government to pick the pockets of others,

...it's all over, except for the details.

Well, we're in the “details,” now.

Meanwhile, I have to figure out what Miss Emily and I do with what's left of our lives, and bush hog her Mom's old place in the country, because City Life isn't going to be worth living from here on out.

I'll catch you all later...

...maybe...

North Koreans Fire Third Missile after Dropping Hiroshima Nuke: "NO LONGER BOUND BY 1953 ARMISTICE SIGNED AT THE END OF KOREAN WAR"

"A North Korean army spokesman reiterated that the country was no longer bound by the armistice signed at the end of the 1950-53 Korean War because Washington had ignored its responsibility as a signatory by drawing Seoul into the anti-proliferation effort." (here)  hat tip Amaros

For who? Well, who is funding the Nork Nuke program? Iran

North Korea fires a THIRD missile and accuses U.S. of hostility, one day after exploding 'Hiroshima' bomb

North Korea defied the world last night by launching a third missile, following two similar tests earlier in the day.

The rockets were fired the day after the communist state exploded a nuclear device as powerful as the Hiroshima bomb.

The actions drew strong criticism from around the world and calls for tough new sanctions against the regime.

Rally: North Korean soldiers, officials and people celebrate the firing of a second nuclear missile

But experts questioned whether a new UN resolution would have any effect on Korea's nuclear ambitions.

All three launches were reported to be short-range missiles which can hit targets up to 80 miles away.

As the crisis grew, U.S. President Barak Obama assured South Korean president Lee Myung-bak of Washington's commitment to defend his country on the long- divided peninsula.

Emergency sessions of the UN Security Council drew up new sanctions aimed at persuading North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il to rejoin talks on ending his nuclear programme.

But existing sanctions are regularly flouted and the country is so poor it relies on aid, mainly from China, to feed its 23million people.

A scientist points out the seismic impact of the nuclear test

Diplomats believe the explosion, which prompted an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council, was a calculated attempt by Pyongyang to destabilise the region and shore up its hardline regime.

But the isolated nation appeared to have overreached itself when even China and Russia joined in with the criticism.

Mr Brown swiftly denounced the move as 'erroneous, misguided and a danger to the world'. The Prime Minister said: 'This act will undermine prospects for peace on the Korean peninsula and will do nothing for North Korea's security.

'The international community will treat North Korea as a partner if it behaves responsibly. If it does not then it can expect only renewed isolation

Mr Obama said the nuclear test constituted an act of 'blatant defiance' of the UN Security Council, a violation of international law.

The U.S. President added: 'North Korea's attempts to develop nuclear weapons, as well as its ballistic missile programme, constitute a threat to international peace and security.'

In a White House address the President pledged to work with allies around the world to 'stand up to' North Korea. Tensions had already been running high over Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions.

It was censured by the UN last month for launching a rocket - widely seen as a test for a missile that could carry a nuclear warhead - in breach of a missile test ban.

[...]

The state-controlled Korean Central News Agency confirmed that the regime had 'successfully conducted one more underground nuclear test on May 25 as part of measures to bolster its nuclear deterrent for self-defence'.

South Koreans reacted to the terrifying news by staging angry street protests against their Stalinist northern neighbour.

Western intelligence analysts and diplomats believe the explosion was designed to attract the attention of the Obama administration.

But it is more likely to lead to further isolation, by halting a recent thawing of relations with the West.

The U.S. had taken North Korea off its list of state sponsors of terrorism after Pyongyang allowed some inspections of its nuclear facilities.

Foreign Secretary David Miliband said: 'The test is a provocation that will prevent others from dealing with North Korea as a responsible partner.'

Foreign Office and U.S. State Department experts believe that the blast is evidence that the hardline military in North Korea is asserting itself as the health of dictator Kim Jong-Il declines.

North Korea carried out the nuclear test at a site six miles underground and 40 miles north-west of Kimchaek in the north-east of the country

While the leadership is hard to penetrate and its motives are difficult to read, it is thought that Army chiefs want to reassert their influence before a successor is chosen to Kim, whose position has been on under question since he suffered a stroke last year.

Others think nuclear brinkmanship is a way for Kim to reassert his iron grip on power to ensure that one of his sons is well placed to succeed him.

China, the hermit state's regional benefactor, said it was resolutely opposed to the test, but it was thought to remain opposed to punitive sanctions.

Its foreign ministry said: 'The Chinese side vehemently demands North Korea abides by its denuclearisation promises, stop any actions which may worsen the situation and return to the six-party talks process.

'The Chinese government calls on all sides to calmly and appropriately deal with the situation.'

The U.N. Security Council condemned the test and is working on a new resolution, but analysts say China is unlikely to support anything tough.

For China, the more immediate risk may be serious rupture inside the impoverished state, which could spark a flood of North Korean refugees across its border.

Not only is America now paying the price of its past defeatism over North Korea, but Obama is now ensuring that the US is weakened even more actively and catastrophically. The insanity of his overall strategy is set out here by James Lewis, who rightly suggests that Obama is simply the very worst person to be sitting in the White House right now.  And as John Bolton again wrote in the New York Times:

... the Obama administration is seriously weakening both our strategic offensive and defensive capacity. The Defense Department budget proposes major cuts in missile defense programs, returning to an emphasis both in operational and diplomatic terms on ‘theater’ missile defense (mainly for defending deployed military forces), rather than ‘national’ missile defense (for shielding America’s population from missile attack).

... The Pentagon also proposes ending financing for the Reliable Replacement Warhead, a key to substituting safe, dependable warheads for the ones now aging... The administration is also putting new emphasis on negotiating conventions against the ‘arms race’ in outer space, which would undercut America's current substantial advantage above the earth...

Unhappily, the administration is pushing Israel to sign the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty as a ‘non-nuclear-weapons state,’ meaning Israel would have to eliminate its nuclear arsenal. Iran and others will welcome this, given their repeated demands for the same result. Today’s real proliferation threat, however, is not Israel, but states like Iran and North Korea that become parties to the alphabet soup of arms control treaties and then violate them with abandon. Without robust American reactions to these violations--not apparent in administration thinking--more will follow.

But does Obama care about any of that? As Con Coughlin wrote in the Telegraph:

The naivety of the West’s approach to North Korea was best summed up by Stephen Bosworth, Mr Obama’s special envoy to the region, who declared he was ‘relatively relaxed’ that the American-led six-nation talks aimed at bringing Pyongyang to heel have achieved virtually nothing... If the Obama administration is relaxed about this failure, then I suppose it will take an equally sanguine view of North Korea’s attempts to export its bomb-making expertise to other rogue states, such as Iran and Syria.

Indeed, after Israel bombed the Syrian nuclear facility there was evidence of North Korean involvement in that forbidden programme. North Korea is also selling nuclear and missile technology to Pakistan as well as Iran. Yet Obama appears ‘relaxed’ about everyone’s nukes except Israel's– the one country that will never use them except to prevent itself from being annihilated by the countries Obama is appeasing.

Naivety – or the profound idiocy of malice?

The Media Loved Hitler too ...............

The more things change (hope and change), the more they stay the same. Another media dahlink. A reader posted this comment back in November 2008:

I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his "brown shirts" would bully them into submission. And then he was duly elected to office, with a full-throttled economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department by department, person by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name , where they were taught what to think.

How did he get the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe, and across the world. He did it with a compliant media - Did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and .. . . change.

The Hitler myth

By Duns Ouray

One day you just do not believe it anymore.

Hitler: Man of the Year 1938“Hitler was a unpredictable idiot. A dictator who ruled Germany with an iron fist. He had a special gift: with his speeches he was hypnotizing his audience.

“The industrialists financed the Nazis to make profits from the German rearmament. Hitler was nothing more than a sock puppet of the capitalists. Hence the fierce struggle of the Nazis against the Social Democrats and the Communists.

“The Holocaust was anti-Semitic madness. But without the German law-abiding culture, the Holocaust could not have happened. “Befehl ist Befehl” [An order is an order] was the motto.

“The followers of Hitler were socially frustrated. The middle class were hoping to climb the social ladder with a membership in the NSDAP.

“With the military defeat in 1945, Nazism was consigned to the dungheap of history.”

That was roughly the image of Nazism I grew up with. The image that was presented to you in history class, in films, and in the newspaper. This image we might call “the Hitler myth”.

It is not the first time that myth has won out over reality. Perhaps Plato’s myth about the death of Socrates is the oldest example. Another historical myth is the idea that the Indians had a high culture, a pacifist mentality, and lived in harmony with nature, and that they were exterminated by white settlers.

This poses the following question: when does a myth win out over the reality? My answer: when all parties that benefit prefer the myth over the unwelcome reality. The Indians have an interest in their role as victim. And from the side of Westerners, history is written by left-wing pseudo-intellectuals: they want to paint capitalist society, and Christian America, in as bad a light as possible.

Back to the Hitler myth. At some point in time I started doubting. Just as children start having doubts about Santa Claus. It simply cannot be true. In this I was struggling with the following questions:
  • If Hitler was a madman, how could he come to power?
  • Can anyone really hypnotize his audience with a speech?
  • If Nazism only attracted losers, how could they suddenly grab power?
  • The Holocaust is a major operation and a historically unique. Would the motive for this have only been anti-Semitism? For anti-Semitism is (literally) as old as the way to Rome.
  • If Hitler was a sock puppet of the major capitalists, why did he call himself a national socialist?
  • This was the first speech of Hitler as Chancellor… a strange little man that is just screaming anything. Do you feel the spell of his hypnotic power come over you?
  • Via a “health care fund” the Dutch State pays the cost of health care of the below average income segment of our people. This fund is hailed as “a pinnacle of civilization”. However, it was established by the Nazis on November 1, 1941 [during the occupation of the Netherlands].
  • In 2006, the PvdA (Socialists) blocked the loosening of Dutch employment protection. The labor unions even called this employment protection “holy”. However, this measure was also introduced by the Nazis.
  • The dependent child allowance, one of the shrines of the Christian Democrats, was introduced by the Nazis in 1941.
  • After a long leftist life, Jacques van Doorn wrote German Socialism. In this book he demonstrated that historians traditionally portray the conservatives, the Reichswehr, the nobility and industrialists as the trailblazers to Hitler. However, the NSDAP was one of the few political parties in the German Weimar Republic that was not funded by these groups.
  • Did the massive support for Nazism really suddenly evaporate in 1945?
With so many contradictions, our image of Hitler cannot possibly be based on reality. There is a Hitler myth, but how could that occur?

Part II

Where did the Hitler myth come from? And why would you believe it?

In Part I demonstrated that a Hitler-myth exists. Our image of Hitler and Nazism is a fantasy. This fantasy was created by some special interest groups, who together wrote history. This section deals with these stakeholders:
- - - - - - - - -
1.   The pre-war political establishment, which was restored after 1945.
2.   The baby-boom generation, which took over power in the 1960’s.
3.   The Germans who survived the war.

What special interest did they have?

1. The pre-war establishment had to explain why they did not stop Hitler and the Holocaust. They also, after 1945, had to channel popular support for Nazism to their aid. The following components of the Hitler myth were in their interest:

Hitler myth versus the interest:
  • “Hitler was a unpredictable madman.
  • — The political establishment had been unable to predict the Second World War or the Holocaust.
  • “The followers of Hitler were mainly socially frustrated.”
  • — Hitler’s followers were standing outside the establishment. Hitler was hated by the establishment.
  • “With the military defeat in 1945, Nazism was consigned to the dungheap of history.
  • — The political establishment is responsible for the cleaning up the remnants of Nazism.
2. The baby boom generation were the first “children of the welfare state”. They pinched the power of the establishment. In this struggle, the leveling of the “fascism-reproach” proved to be a strong weapon: anyone who stands in the way of the baby boomers is called “a fascist”.

Hitler myth versus the interest:

  • “Hitler was financed by the great industrialists.”
  • — The baby boomers saw capitalism as an obstacle on their way to power. Therefore capitalism had to be portrayed as the breeding ground of Hitler and Nazism.
  • “The Nazis disputed social democrats and communists.”
  • — The baby boomers identified themselves as socialists and/or communists. Now they also could delude themselves as the “victims of Hitler
  • The Holocaust was enabled by the German law-abiding culture.”
  • — If a law-abiding culture had led to the Holocaust, then the fight against the authority simply had to be justified. And the baby boomers fought against authority in the 1960s
  • “The followers of Hitler were the middle class that grabbed the chance to improve their situation through he Nazis.
  • — The baby boomers view themselves as real intellectuals. They detest the middle class.
3. Germans who survived the war had to find ways to justify their participation. Therefore the reality was modified:

Hitler myth versus the interest:

  • “Hitler ruled Germany with an iron fist. And with his speeches Hitler hypnotized his audience.”
  • — The Germans themselves were also victims of Hitler
  • “Hitler was financed by the great industrialists.
  • — Against this financial force majeure the Germans stood no chance
  • “With the military defeat in 1945, Nazism was consigned to the dung heap of history

  • — Nazism is a black page in history, but fortunately we left that behind us. As you can see, the Hitler myth has something in it for everyone. But can we still find out how it really stuck together?

North Korea Says It No Longer Considers Itself Bound By Terms Of Armistice

—DrewM.

Can things get worse in Korea? Yes, yes they can.

North Korea's military says it considers South Korea's participation in a U.S.-led program to intercept ships suspected of spreading weapons of mass destruction tantamount to a declaration of war against the North.

The communist North's military said in a statement Wednesday that it will respond with "immediate, strong military measures" if the South actually stops and searches any North Korean ships under the Proliferation Security Initiative.

This follows other North Korean provocations in the wake of response to their nuke test.

North Korea, facing international sanction for its nuclear test this week, has restarted a plant that makes bomb-grade plutonium, a South Korean newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Pyongyang also appeared to have fired off a third short-range missile late on Tuesday after it added to tensions with a launch of two others earlier in the day, the South's Yonhap news agency quoted a unnamed government source as saying.

The immediate cause of the North's threats is the South's decision to join the US founded Proliferation Security Initiative.

South Korea had long resisted U.S. pressure to join the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI), which was created in 2003 by President George W. Bush and includes more than 90 countries that have agreed to stop and inspect suspicious cargo on sea and land.

Seoul was reluctant to rile North Korea, but North Korea's second nuclear test nudged Seoul Korea to change its policy.

..."Inter-Korean relations have hit rock bottom," said Yun Duk-min, professor of international politics at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security, a government think tank in Seoul. "So it is the right thing to join PSI, even if North Korea reacts with resistance."

Who is going to blink?

When a Crazy Man With A Gun Tells You He's Going to Shoot You, The Smart Move is to Act as Though He Really Will Do it [Gabe]:

Look, if we had taken Hitler at his word in the early 1930s, WWII and the Holocaust would never have happened. But instead of acting as though he really meant what he said, the European Powers claimed that he was really just being belligerent to score political points.

This holds true for North Korea today. "Oh," they scoff, "Kim is just trying to score more loot from China and lower sanctions from the U.N. He's not really a threat to anyone; half his country is starving. Besides, North Korea makes threats all the time."

Only, the half of his country that isn't starving is the military. And he has used his loot to build devastating weapons. And he doesn't have anyone left to score political points off of. Kim is not running for reelection. He doesn't have to find seats in a parliament or consolidate power. He's got nowhere to go but out and down the peninsula. With all the demonstrations over the past few days he's expending his military resources faster than anything we've ever seen.

Would he really do it? Kim may well believe that with a nuclear deterrent he can force South Korea to integrate on his terms. Those missiles can't reach the U.S., but they can reach Japan. He obviously thinks that there is something to be gained from all this. Declaring the Armistice over with a phone call rather than a missile is a good sign. But there's a reason he's doing this now and not six months ago.

President Obama is going to issue a statement in the morning with vague reassurance about how seriously he takes the situation and then he's going to defer to the UNSC's bland statement of condemnation. Kim knows this. In fact, it's the reason he's doing this now. Obama's going to vote "present" on this one.

If we give in, it means the end of sanctions. If we give in, it means the end of the nuclear talks (which, frankly, wouldn't be much of a loss). But we have to consider the likelihood that he's not just doing this to get better terms and that he might actually intend to go to war. Do we take him at his word? And if we do, does that mean we back down while he develops more nuclear weapons and sells the technology to our enemies?

American Weakness, Chinese Strength

Power Line argues that for some perverse reason, some people on the Left trust Barack Obama because he “will lie” about his own beliefs. John Hinderaker wrote:

The idea that President Obama’s supporters trust him precisely because they believe that he frequently misrepresents his own beliefs is becoming more widespread. My friend Bob Cunningham was one of the first to explicate this phenomenon. “It has long been noticed that Obama’s slipperiness had been accepted by the left during the Hope-and-Change campaign when He took positions, for example and notably, NAFTA and foreign trade generally, on both sides of an issue. They were willing to cut Him slack in most cases precisely because they just assumed that, of course!!…He was lying….to someone…about the issue.”

This has been particularly noticeable with the gay marriage issue….Carrie Prejean being exactly right when noting that her position is identical to that of His Oneness. But Obama gets a pass, of course, from the homosexual activists because they just assume He is lying!!!… Today Frank Rich in the New York Times comes as close as I’ve seen actually to acknowledge openly the “we trust Him because He’s lying” view: “Obama’s opposition to same-sex marriage is now giving cover to every hard-core opponent of gay rights, from the Miss USA contestant Carrie Prejean to the former Washington mayor Marion Barry, each of whom can claim with nominal justification to share the president’s views. In reality, they don’t. Obama has long been, as he says, a fierce advocate for gay equality. The Windy City Times has reported that he initially endorsed legalizing same-sex marriage when running for the Illinois State Senate in 1996.”

This kind of political relationship can occur only if discourse can be carried out at more than one level. For Power Line’s assertion to be correct, it implies that some of Obama’s supporters, instead of relying on a single channel, actually communicate over two distinct paths. The reason they can disregard the signal conveyed by what he says is if they have a separate channel which communicates what he is. An excerpt from a 1905 essay by GK Chesterton on the “West’s Malady” sent to me by a friend expresses it perfectly. In it, Chesterton argues that the best predictor of what man will do is his world view. Anything else is incidental. Society can often take both sides of a position, often alternately, sometimes simultaneously. But what counts is its fundamental character and the cunning man knows what to look for.

"Following this train of reasoning, the support from Obama’s base won’t even begin to falter until they receive messages on the ’second channel’ that indicate he’s not the sort of person they would like. Conservative pundits have focused on the ‘what Obama says’ channel, but what is really important is the ‘what Obama is’ channel, relative to his die-hard base. The Jan Fleischhauer “Leaving Home” thread shows what it would take for Obama to become persona non grata with his community. He would have to be suspected of becoming “the other”. That’s the greatest of crimes."

North Korean Nukes: O's Kick in the Teeth

One of the advantages of having Barack Obama as president of the hyperpower, is that it puts his great mass of fans, in America and abroad, in the position of having to think about real problems. It turns out the solution to each of them was more complicated than "get rid of Bush." The world does not spontaneously change when the president changes.

National Sales Tax Gets Fresh Look; Rahm Emanuel's brother advises 10% VAT...

How about cutting spending..NOW?
Drop the income tax, cut spending, and put a national sales tax of 10%, and thats IT for taxes, I am all for it. Add it to the already levied taxes and fees we currently pay, and I think it may be the catylist to a revolt.

We are in a work release camp. We are free to wonder around just so long as we kick back.

WHO IS JOHN GALT? TAX COLLECTIONS PLUMMET.

I THINK HE’S ENJOYING THIS TURNABOUT THING: Gingrich: Sotomayor ‘racist,’ should withdraw nomination.

Robert Gibbs, meanwhile, thinks people should be careful about what they say. Where have I heard that before?

UPDATE: Ah, Politico is remembering the same thing:

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs issued a pointed warning to opponents of Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s Supreme Court nomination Wednesday, urging critics to measure their words carefully during a politically charged confirmation debate. . . .

In 2001, then-White House press secretary Ari Fleischer drew criticism in the press for suggesting Americans “need to watch what they say” in the overheated aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

But that was a scary threat of totalitarian censorship. Well, to Frank Rich, anyway.

More On Chrysler Closings-- Did Team Obama Target Red Counties?

** Earlier it was reported that the Obama Administration may have targeted GOP donors in deciding which Chrysler dealerships would have to close their doors.

** Last night it was discovered that a Big Dem Donor Group was allowed to keep all 6 Chrysler dealerships open.... And, their local competitors were eliminated by Obama's task force!!

2008 Red and Blue Counties (Flickr)

Now here is the latest on the Chrysler closings-- I was sent this earlier today:

I have obtained two pdf files from the bankruptcy court.

One is the list of dealers to close and the other is the list to stay open.

I am in the process right now of editing the data into comma delimited format for import to Excell and am about 2/3rd of the way through the closure listing.

I haven't done any donation cross references yet and that will come.

This has to be done manually ,which is very time consuming due to formatting issues with the data.

But, so far in the shutdown list there is an extremely high correlation between dealers closing and congressional districts BHO lost.

Texas is getting killed and Blue States are sliding by. Florida is also taking major hits and nearly all are in Republican Congressional Districts.

Little West Virginia is getting hammered.

I will know much better when I start doing all the cross reference work after I finally get the data into Excel, but that is going to take time since the data has to be formatted up manually and there are over 2000 dealers involved between the two lists.

So far what I see smells big time.
And, Reboot Congress is asking for some assistance:

I’ve created a list of the cut dealers that *simplifies* the process of gathering donation information from OpenSecrets. It’s a partial solution that needs lots of help from folks on the web. It’s a crowd sourced project.

G.M. BONDHOLDERS: PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND ME. “The government is punishing one group of workers to reward another.” That’s the Chicago Way.

UPDATE: Reader Fred Butzen writes:

I’m a fourth-generation Chicagoan, and lifelong resident. There’s a lot here to like, and I have no plans to leave. But one thing that you have to understand about Chicago, which is the key to understanding Obama, is that the city’s political system is a kinder, gentler form of Leninism: government and business subordinate to the Party, and the Party subordinate to the dictator. There may occasionally be a coup, but never a lost election. Political influence is a second currency, more valuable, in some ways, than money. “Don’t send nobody nobody knows” is the system’s creed.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Obama’s vision for America is Cook County writ large. And we are fools if we let him do it.

Indeed.

Ace of Spades HQ Asks The Question...

What was once a must read blog for news and analysis on my rss feed has recently become a once or twice a day stop and that's only for the car crash quality of it all.

Today's head shaking moment comes from a post entitled "Limbaugh Stuck On Fail". Charles seems genuinely confused that some people might actually say out loud they don't want Sotomayor confirmed to the Supreme Court.

It seems that for a democracy to function there needs to be at least two parties who articulate their differences. The idea that partisans of either party wants the other to fail is baked into the cake.

I know Barack Obama wanted John Roberts and Sam Alito to fail in their confirmation efforts. How do I know this? He voted against them. Of course, there's nothing wrong with that, it's all part of the give and take of public discourse. Just as there's nothing wrong with Limbaugh or my wish to see Sotomayor fail in her bid for confirmation.

Equally confounding is Charles' contention in the comments of that thread that

Barack Obama ran on a platform of sheer positive messages. Not once did he wish for the other side to fail. You're just wrong to claim that negativity is winning strategy. One of the big reasons why Obama won was because he did NOT go negative -- ever.

Really? This will of course come as news to anyone who followed the campaign last year. Even the Washington Post noticed.

How about, just to pick one of many examples, when Obama accused President Bush and John McCain of "fear mongering"?

Or the distortions of McCain's words.

The list could go on and on.

I really don't have a dog (or monkey) in all the creationist stuff but while it's certainly Charles' right to post on whatever the hell he wants, the constant harping and disdain for others is off putting.

Sadly I can only conclude there's no room for me anymore under LGF's big tent.

"Of course the slimes didn?t point out also that this little project will use eminent domain to push lawful property owners off their land so that they can build their little utopia."

Or that this cost could be avoided if we only had the will to enforce immigration laws and send them back to their home countries. The unwillingness to enforce laws and the decisions to cater to endless dependent classes created by government action is like spreading termites in a wood house.

Our Public Servants At Work

The elected representatives of 'we the people' were hard at work last week on our behalf. The new Obama administration churned out proposals and legislation on a variety of fronts including the environment, the economy, and the (former) war on terror.

In response to the Federal Reserve's report of an increasingly gloomy economic forecast, with an expectation for higher unemployment and a steeper drop in economic activity, our public servants in Congress introduced the Paid Vacation Act, requiring companies with more than 100 employees to offer a week of paid vacation for both full-time and part-time employees after they’ve put in a year on the job.

In a boon to deadbeats, President Obama on Friday signed new credit card legislation and warned the American people to be fiscally responsible, saying "Some get in over their heads by not using their heads," he said. "I want to be clear: We do not excuse or condone folks who've acted irresponsibly."

This stern warning came a full four days after it was reported that the US had set yet another record, entering into deficit spending in April, for the first time in 26 years. Oh, and the deficit will quadruple next year, and it now appears that America's triple-A credit rating is at risk.

Exhibiting a firm grasp of the obvious, President Obama on Saturday boldly told Americans what 50% of Americans already know: "We're running out of money".

This lack of money didn't keep Obama from proposing last week that the US contribute $100 billion, of the money we don't have, to help the IMF with global bailouts. And on Friday evening of a holiday weekend, it was leaked that the government had 'loaned' an additional $4 billion of our tax dollars (making a grand total of $19.4 billion) to the soon to be bankrupt General Motors.

Also ignoring this lack of money, our public servants were hard at work trying to figure out how to bail out minority owned media. They're also crafting a hugely expensive overhaul of health care system. The Senate proposed raising the federal excise tax on beer by 145% to pay for it. Uncle Sam also would snatch an additional $7 on a case of wine -- a staggering increase of 233%. And that's just the start.

In case 'we the people' object, Obama's latest budget proposal includes plans to double the budget of the IRS, to make sure all Americans invest their fair share.

As America moves ever closer to economic suicide, the House last week advanced 'cap and trade' legislation, imposing the first nationwide limits on the pollution blamed for the, as yet unproven, theory of global warming.

Thankfully for Democrats, only 24% of Americans understand what cap and trade is. Probably even fewer understand that this legislation, called the largest tax increase in history, will cost the average family app. $3,100 more per year in energy costs, according to the Heritage Foundation.

IF YOU’RE A GUN OWNER, you may be a “terrorist.”

WASHINGTON EXAMINER: Furor grows over partisan car dealer closings.

I hope the Public Integrity Section at the Department of Justice looks into this.

UPDATE: A reader notes something about “car czar” Steven Rattner: “Rattner is married to Maureen White, the former National Finance Chair for the Democratic Party.” The comment: “So one of the guys advising SecTreas on this thing is married to someone who used to be one of the people in charge of fundraising for the Democratic Party. This explains so much it’s scary.” Well, it bears a close look.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Megan McArdle notes some skepticism, and the Examiner piece has been updated with additional information that calls this into question. Also, somebody forwarded me an email from John Lott, who’s run the numbers and doesn’t think there’s much here. So don’t get carried away just yet.

As we all know, there is a Leftist-Islamic alliance world wide.  Whether in Europe or America, the leftist media attacks anyone who criticizes Islam, and violent actions committed in the name of Islam are downplayed or covered up.   In my opinion, this has only emboldened the Islamo-Fascists like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Hezbollah and Al-Qaeda.

The Media, Islam & Political Correctness

Last week’s arrest of four men in the Bronx, New York on charges of plotting to bomb two synagogues and shoot down a military aircraft with a missile has revived an ongoing debate about the connection between Islam and terrorism and the twin pitfalls of religious bigotry and willfully blind political correctness.

The New York Times has been assailed by conservative critics such as Dallas Morning News columnist and blogger Rod Dreher for downplaying a troubling aspect of the case: all the suspects are Muslims. (They had converted to Islam while in prison for drug offenses, theft and other crimes.) The first Times report on May 20 mentioned this fact only in passing - despite a statement by New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly’s at a press conference that the four had talked frankly about wanting to “commit jihad.”

The Leftists and some Corporatists naviely view Islam as hip and peaceful.   Unfortunately, numerous acts by its followers, show that this is far from the truth.   Islam both as a religion and political movement is an imperialist cult.   Accordingly, America needs to stop Islamic immigration.  Importing the enemies of your civilization is simply madness.  Acts like this show that America is not serious about the Islamic threat.  I believe this can be directly attributecd to the Leftist whitewashing of Islamic history.   Never before has a nation made excuses for its enemies and survived.

It angers me and I wish something can be done.

Document drop: What NYTimes reporter Stephanie Strom really knew about ObamACORN

May 28, 2009 02:08 PM by Michelle Malkin

Here are just a few of the exchanges between NYTimes reporter Stephanie Strom and ACORN whistleblower Anita MonCrief last summer and fall over the increasingly obvious links between ACORN, Project Vote, and the Obama campaign. (Both Strom and MonCrief used pseudonymous e-mail addresses while communicating). It was my blog post on the ACORN/CSI money-laundering scheme that prompted MonCrief to push the story with Strom. Thanks to MonCrief’s continued campaign to get the truth out and aided by investigative crowd-sourcing predominantly on the right side of the blogosphere (in addition to MonCrief’s testimony for Pennsylvania lawyer Heather Heidelbaugh), a plethora of documents and information continue to pour across the web. I’ll have much more on this tomorrow and in coming days. But read these and compare with NYTimes public editor’s smug dismissal of the “Tip that didn’t pan out.”

To quote Strom: “The real story to all this is how these myriad entities allow them to shuffle money around so much that no one really knows what’s getting spent on what…”

How you like these apples now, Mr. Hoyt?

Note: Emails may be a bit hard to read. I’ll put up transcripts shortly, but wanted you to see the originals.45 Comments

I just finished a piece on how Dale Rathke, brother of long time CEO Wade Rathke, embezzled about a million dollars, and how Wade covered it up. This is only the beginning of the story and ACORN must be stopped. Blogged that last July. More to come.

I came across this article when I did a search of: Eric Holder - ACORN.

From the article:
“Founded on the Cloward/Piven Strategy, the goal of ACORN is the destruction of capitalism through the creation of chaos to overwhelm the system.

After Losing 16,000 Jobs Each Day-- Obama Tells Dems "Not to Rest On Our Laurels"

After losing 16,000 jobs each day since the Spendulus Bill was passed 100 days ago, Barack Obama congratulated himself yesterday at a campaign stop. Obama also told the crowd that now is not the time to "rest on our laurels."

16,000 Jobs Lost Each Day Since ‘Stimulus’ Became Law
After 100 days of ‘stimulus’ we have to ask: Mr. President, are you looking at the same numbers we are?

Via House Republican Conference

Reuters reported:

"When you look at the economy right now, I think it's safe to say we have stepped back from the brink, that there is some calm that didn't exist before," Obama said at a fund-raiser for the Democratic National Committee.

Obama took credit for a large share of the turnaround, saying his young administration had accomplished as much or more in its first four months as any administration since Franklin Delano Roosevelt's in the 1930s...

"We can't rest on our laurels because we've got a lot of work to do" in areas ranging from healthcare to education to curbing dependence on foreign oil, he said.
Of course, not everyone was excited to see Franklin Roosevelt socialize the economy back then either.
General Douglas MacArthur thought FDR was a communist.
Joe Hard sent this in:

When Franklin Roosevelt was elected president, many Americans worried the country was moving towards socialism. In the book Maverick Military Leaders, published in 2008, the author Robert Harvey notes that General Douglas MacArthur after having served as the chief of staff under President Hoover, was distraught after the election of President Franklin Roosevelt in 1932.

“MacArthur watched with grim apprehension as Roosevelt was swept to power at the expense of Hoover and the Democrats seized control of both houses of Congress. To MacArthur it almost seemed that the very forces of communism and revolution had won at the ballot box.”
MacArthur wasn't too far off.

Gibbs Denies Politics In Chrysler Dealership Closings But Unofficial Figures Tell a Different Story **MAP**

Here is a first look at the Chrysler Dealership closings:

It looks like the Left Coast survived the cuts better than the rest of the country.
Using the list of all 789 dealerships to be closed, WND found that owners contributed $450,000 to GOP presidential candidates; $7,970 to Sen. Hillary Clinton; $2,200 to John Edwards and $450 to Barack Obama. Chrysler dealership owners donated to Republicans over Democrats by a ratio of 76% to 24% in 2008. Considering this, it looks like the democrats did VERY WELL in the Chrysler closings.
Meanwhile, Slim Guy is still crunching the donation's data.

Now, here is a map of the Chrysler closings compared to Red and Blue Counties in the 2008 election:

Gwynne from Texas is working on more maps to compare different statistics including this:

I am looking for current Congressional district boundaries from the USGS or Census data which is usually available for free download in GIS formats. Household income data is also available by census tract and we can make a map with that shading as well. I can shade the counties by votes (red vs. blue) if we have a dataset that I can link to the county layer.

When I complete the geocoding for the Open dealers, we can do a spatial analysis with regards to areas around each open dealer - closed dealerships within a 20 mile radius, for example.
That ought to do it.
Thank you, Gwynne!

CDCDI reported...
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs denied that the Chrysler closings were politically motivated.
FOX News reported:

The White House denied Thursday charges by conservative bloggers that President Obama's Auto Task Force, which is overseeing the restructuring of the U.S. auto industry, targeted for closure Chrysler dealers who have contributed to Republicans.

"We don't make those decisions. Ok?," said White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs. "Chrysler makes those decisions. So I am sure you can send Chrysler the address of the blog that you refer to. ... We're not involved in making those decisions I would think your question would be appropriately dealt with by the company that is."

Chrysler disclosed in bankruptcy court this month its plan to close 789, or about a quarter, of its 3,200 U.S. dealerships by June 9, provoking a public outcry over the impact.

"In the case of Chrysler I think 75 percent of the auto dealers remained open; that encompasses about 87 percent of annual auto sales," Gibbs said Wednesday.

Chrysler has said the process for selecting which dealerships the company would keep was based on sale volume, location, local market share and potential, customer satisfaction indices and warranty repair availability.

But bloggers say politics was also part of the formula. Among the Chrysler dealers targeted for closure are Florida Republican Rep. Vern Buchanan and competitors to a dealership chain partly owned by Mack McLarty, who served as chief of staff to former President Bill Clinton.

Bloggers have also found that some of the dealers have donated nearly $150,000 to GOP candidates and organizations.

"If this data can be validated, it would appear to be further proof that the Obama administration is willing to step over any line to advance its agenda," blogger Doug Ross wrote on his page. "It bodes poorly for America and the rule of law."
But, despite what Gibbs says, Astute Bloggers reported that Obama officials are calling the shots.
Via Reuters:

A lawyer for Chrysler dealers facing closure as part of the automaker's bankruptcy reorganization said on Tuesday he believes Chrysler executives do not support a plan to eliminate a quarter of its retail outlets.

Lawyer Leonard Bellavia, of Bellavia Gentile & Associates, who represents some of the terminated dealers, said he deposed Chrysler President Jim Press on Tuesday and came away with the impression that Press did not support the plan.

"It became clear to us that Chrysler does not see the wisdom of terminating 25 percent of its dealers," Bellavia said. "It really wasn't Chrysler's decision. They are under enormous pressure from the President's automotive task force."
Again here is what we know so far--
** Earlier it was reported that the Obama Administration may have targeted GOP donors in deciding which Chrysler dealerships would have to close their doors.
** Later it was discovered that a Big Dem Donor Group was allowed to keep all 6 Chrysler dealerships open.... And, their local competitors were eliminated.
** The Auto Task Force, which includes Obama cabinet members, is reportedly calling the shots on which dealerships will close and stay open.
** Steven Rattner leads The Auto Task Force and is married to the former National Finance Chair of Democratic Party, Maureen White.
** The closings in several instances appear to benefit Dem donating dealers where local GOP-linked dealerships were closed.
** Even Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla) lost his Chrysler dealership in Florida and found out from a colleague on the House floor.
** Lithia Motor Group's owners gave $15,000 to two Democrat candidates and support nationalized healthcare. They will likely lose just two of 29 dealerships and gain 5 more.
** One report claims the odds that these Chrysler closings occurred without partisan bias are less than 1%.
** After closing the 789 dealerships Chrysler announced that they are already looking to open new franchises.
** Chrysler dealership owners donated to Republicans over Democrats by a ratio of 76% to 24%.
** Using the list of all 789 dealerships to be closed, WND found that owners contributed $450,000 to GOP presidential candidates; $7,970 to Sen. Hillary Clinton; $2,200 to John Edwards and $450 to Barack Obama.

Will Obama Trigger the ‘Nuclear Option’?

You had better start paying attention, folks- the "Twofer" ( Hispanic Woman, why not a one-legged Lesbian as well? ) is a Kook:

Sotomayor: Radical on the SCOTUS

It seems to me this is a watershed moment. Every Republican must vote against this incompetent radical. No more pandering to the soft mushy middle. The Republicans better man up. The folks are fed up. There's more on the nomination of the pro-gun control judicial activist Judge Sonia Sotomayor.

Sotomayor is a graduate from Princeton University, where her legal theses included Race in the American Classroom, and Undying Injustice: American "Exceptionalism" and Permanent Bigotry, and Deadly Obsession: American Gun Culture. In this text, the student Sotomayor explained that the Second Amendment to the Constitution did not actually afford individual citizens the right to bear arms, but only duly conferred organizations, like the military. Instead of making guns illegal, she argues that they have been illegal for individuals to own since the passing of the Bill of Rights.  (More here)

Obama says, just buy Sotomayor's narrative. Her life story, that's what important. Thomas Sowell wrote in a piece entitled 'Empathy in Action':

It is one of the signs of our times that so many in the media are focusing on the life story of Judge Sonia Sotomayor, President Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court of the United States.

You might think that this was some kind of popularity contest, instead of a weighty decision about someone whose impact on the fundamental law of the nation will extend for decades after Barack Obama has come and gone.

Much is being made of the fact that Sonia Sotomayor had to struggle to rise in the world. But stop and think.

If you were going to have open-heart surgery, would you want to be operated on by a surgeon who was chosen because he had to struggle to get where he is, or by the best surgeon you could find — even if he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and had every advantage that money and social position could offer?

If it were you who was going to be lying on that operating table with his heart cut open, you wouldn’t give a tinker’s damn about somebody’s struggle or somebody else’s privileges.

The Supreme Court of the United States is in effect operating on the heart of our nation — the Constitution and the statutes and government policies that all of us must live under.

Barack Obama’s repeated claim that a Supreme Court justice should have “empathy” with various groups has raised red flags that we ignore at our peril — and at the peril of our children and grandchildren.

There's more Sowell at NRO  --

Apparently this beauty is council member of La Raza- "The Race". I have blogged on La Raza here.

President Obama's radical new nominee to replace Associate Justice David Souter on the Supreme Court, Sonia Sotomayor, used to serve on the board of LatinoJustice PRLDEF (White House backgrounder), one of the racial grievance groups that helped to sink the judicial nomination of Honduran-born Miguel Estrada in 2003.

Along with groups such as the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF), LatinoJustice fought a war of attrition against President George W. Bush's 2001 nomination of conservative Miguel Estrada, a Honduran-born immigrant, to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. Democrats in the Senate filibustered the nomination and a weary Estrada withdrew from consideration in 2003.

Today LatinoJustice PRLDEF, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit, hailed the nomination of Sotomayor on the basis of her ethno-cultural heritage. "As the second largest and fastest growing population in America, with a large pool of qualified individuals to choose from, it was wholly appropriate for the president to nominate a Hispanic," the group said in a written statement. (PDF)

According to the group's website, it gets some of its funding from George Soros's Open Society Institute.

America Is Broke (how spectacularly Washington squanders your money)

Lawyers tag nominee as 'terror on the bench'

The Truth About ObamACORN

Guess who Census banned as 'partners'

The U.S. Census Bureau, reflecting what apparently is becoming a political position that involves more than one federal agency, has listed "hate groups," "law enforcement" "and "anti-immigrant groups" among those that would be refused permission to become a partner with the 2010 Census.

The news comes in a series of documents obtained by Judicial Watch under the Freedom of Information Act about the census operations.

WND previously reported when the Department of Homeland Security released an "extremism" report that warned local law enforcement officers nationwide to watch out for "potential terrorists" including those who:

* Oppose abortion

* Oppose same-sex marriage

* Oppose restrictions on firearms

* Oppose lax immigration laws

* Oppose the policies of President Obama regarding immigration, citizenship, and the expansion of social programs

* Oppose continuation of free trade agreements

* Are suspect of foreign regimes

* Fear Communist regimes

* Oppose a "one world" government

* Bemoan the decline of U.S. stature in the world

* Are upset with loss of U.S. manufacturing jobs to China and India, and more

At the time, a lawyer pursuing a lawsuit against Department of Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano over the "extremist" report said he was not reassured by her later promise to "reword" the document.

Obama 's taxes : small businesses hardest hit

"Johnson declined to say whether she voted for Obama. But she said she ignored his tax plans until her husband, who handles real estate and construction for the schools, mentioned it one day. 'I've since talked to my accountant,' she said. 'And, oh, my gosh!'

Unfortunately, the entire process is beyond the understanding of the typical Obama-voter, and therefore meaningless. Gross profit, expenses, net profit, inflation indexes, capital gains, you may as well be speaking Vulcan to those people.

I saw an interesting comment recently: we now have the least competent POTUS elected by the least educated majority in history.

What’s Happened To Little Green Footballs Part II

—DrewM.

You may remember Part I from Wednesday night.

In a post entitled, “What The Hell Happened To Me?” Charles was kind enough to reply. I think his arguments deserve the courtesy of being taken seriously (my apologies for not getting to this in a more timely fashion yesterday).

The heart of his argument seems to me to be summed up by this statement...

Criticize policies all you like, and work to defeat politicians you don’t agree with. But wishing out loud for Obama or his Supreme Court nominees to “fail” is mean-spirited, negative, and hands ammunition to your political enemies that they will gladly use.

Again I would remind Charles that Obama wanted both of President Bush’s nominees for the Supreme Court to fail. He may not have used the word “fail” but he attacked their judicial philosophy, supported a filibuster against now Justice Alito and voted no on the floor of the Senate when their nominations came up.

That didn’t seem to hurt his electoral prospects.

I think Republicans should use this opportunity to layout their philosophy on the role of judges and the courts in our system but I do so in the context of hoping Sotomayor fails to win confirmation (though I don't doubt she will be confirmed).

If our disagreement on this point is simply linguistic then it is rather small. Charles simply wishes for conservatives to forswear using the word ‘fail’. If that is the case then what word shall we use? There’s a whole host of synonyms to select from.

However, I think the disagreement is a larger one. Look at this post Charles linked to in his response. It says in part,

The Republican Party is in reactionary denial mode, refusing to look at the real problems that cost them the last two major elections. Unless the party can find a positive message and articulate it clearly, we’re going to have Democratic presidents for the foreseeable future.

First, on one of the larger issues of the day, the so-called “stimulus”, Republicans did offer a positive message and alternative. They got rolled. You see, as the President will tell you, he won. He also won huge majorities in both the House and the Senate. The Democrats own the government. As the opposition party, the Republican party has no leverage, especially at this point in the election cycle. It is their job to point out the flaws in the Democrats' programs (which Charles agrees is okay).

Do I wish that Specter, Snowe and Collins had stuck with the rest of the Republican caucus and caused the 'stimulus' to fail? Yes because it was and is bad policy that will do damage to the country. I have no regrets about that position at all.

History shows that minority parties that lay down markers of opposition and hope their opponents fail can parlay that into later success (see the Republican opposition to the Clinton tax increases in ’92. Yes, the Contract With America was a positive values statement but it came after initial opposition and yes, hopes of failure for Clinton).

Why is it so awful to say that they hope the programs and nominees they oppose ‘fail’ to pass (wishing the for the best outcome should they pass is a separate matter).

Saying we hope that Obama’s policies fail to be enacted and his nominees don’t win confirmation is simply the logical conclusion to the role the opposition party finds itself in at times like these. To not say so is dishonest and leaves us only with the alternative of seeming to acquiesce to Obama and the Democrats’ program. That simply is bad politics and it’s bad for the country.

The people have a right to know where Republicans stand. We hope that policies and laws we think are damaging to the nation fail to be enacted. I’m not sure how that’s controversial.

Politics can be a tough game and sometimes tough words like fail are used. That brings me to my second point.

In my original post, I questioned Charles’ statement that,

Barack Obama ran on a platform of sheer positive messages. Not once did he wish for the other side to fail. You're just wrong to claim that negativity is winning strategy. One of the big reasons why Obama won was because he did NOT go negative -- ever.

I provided several links from sources not known to be friendly to Republicans such as the Washington Post and NY Times documenting several instances where Obama ‘went negative’. Unfortunately, Charles did not elect to address that in his reply.

Again, these are just a few examples of a definite change in direction at LGF over the last few months or years that lead me to no longer follow as closely a blog I once valued so much.

9 I'd also like to add that some who claim to be on our side believe the prescription for victory means moving farther to the left and a bastardized version of conservatism, which is pretty much in line with what liberals and The MSM claim also.

Funny how this doesn't apply to Democrats however, moving farther to the right that is.

The prescription for more defeats is exactly what Charles and his ilk are advocating.

23 Charles Johnson and others like him seem to want the Republican party to be not a party of loyal opposition, but a party of eager accommodation to the Obamacrat agenda. I don't see the point of even having a Republican party, unless they are to provide opposition and alternatives.

PETER ROBINSON: The Problem With California.

The state of California employs some two-and-a-quarter million people, includes almost 400 state agencies, oversees 29 different legal codes, administers a tax code that runs to more than 60,000 clauses or sections and spends more than $100 billion a year.

You’ll hear it said these days that all this complexity makes California ungovernable, and I suppose that even when the economy is booming, not gasping, California will always prove more of a trick to run than the tiniest state, Rhode Island, or the least populous, Wyoming.

Yet the central problem in the Golden State–the disorder that affects every aspect of state government–can be described very simply: The political class in Sacramento believes the people of California exist for the state government, not the other way around.

Document drop: The truth about ObamACORN

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 29, 2009 10:40 AM

(Photo source: 2008 ACORN slideshow presentation)

They thought it would go away. They were wrong. Obama and the Left thought ACORN’s scandalous racket was a dead issue. But whistleblowers, investigative bloggers, and talk radio continue to press for transparency and taxpayer accountability. Iowa GOP Rep. Steve King has renewed efforts for congressional hearings into the financial structure of the massive, publicly subsidized activist group and its non-profit affiliates. Judicial Watch sheds light on ACORN’s partnership with the Census. Keep an eye on ACORN’s propaganda role in the Obama push for a government health care takeover. And Glenn Beck spotlights the left-wing strategy session to rescue ACORN.

My column today returns to one of the Obama campaign’s big lies — that Barack Obama “never organized with ACORN” and that ACORN had nothing to do with Project Vote. They were joined at the hip back then and they remain joined at the hip today.

Here’s the text of e-mails from ACORN and affiliate staffers patting themselves on the back for their role in Obama’s voter registration drive (click here for the original). Note the addressees, including Frances Piven. Yes, that Frances Piven:

The truth about ObamACORN
by Michelle Malkin
Creators Syndicate
Copyright 2009

Left-wing groups in Washington, D.C., are panicked. The New York Times and other Team Obama whitewashers have tried hard to suppress mounting evidence of legally suspect coordination between the Obama presidential campaign, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), and Obama’s old employer Project Vote (ACORN’s non-profit canvassing arm). Alas, the truth keeps seeping out.

At a closed-door pow-wow hosted Thursday at the left-leaning Center for American Progress, activists discussed how to combat a relentless stream of corruption charges from ACORN/Project Vote whistleblowers. But it’s too late for a reputation bailout. Former Project Vote official and whistleblower Anita MonCrief has harnessed the Internet to crowd-source a massive cache of documents showing ties between Obama staff and the supposedly “non-partisan” ACORN operations.

Last fall, the New York Times abandoned an investigation into whether Obama had shared donor lists with Project Vote, a 501(c)(3) organization that is prohibited from engaging in political activity. Public editor Clark Hoyt earlier this month called it “the tip that didn’t pan out.” Critics suggested that the donor lists could have been compiled through public records. But I have obtained the lists — not only of Obama donors, but also lists of Democratic National Committee, Hillary Clinton, and John Kerry contributors. The records include small donors to the Obama campaign who are not disclosed in public campaign finance databases. It’s information only a campaign could supply.

MonCrief testified under oath last fall that her then-boss, Karyn Gillette, gave her the Obama donor list and told her the campaign had furnished it. Moreover, e-mail between ACORN, Project Vote, and other affiliates, including ACORN’s subsidiary, Citizens Services, Inc. (CSI), make explicit references to working on “Obama campaign related projects.” [Click here for the e-mail.] The “list of maxed out Obama donors” is explicitly mentioned in staff e-mail. [Click here for the e-mail.] Another message from ACORN/Project Vote official Nathan Henderson-James warns ACORN and affiliated staff to prepare for “conservatives…gearing up a major oppo research project on Obama.”

Henderson-James wrote obligatorily, “Understand I’m not suggesting that we gear up to defend a candidate’s campaign.” But that, of course, is exactly what the ACORN enterprise did.

Folks,

The attached link goes to a story on TPM Muckraker that says that conservatives are gearing up a major oppo research project on Obama.

We should prepare for this information being used to tie Obama to the bogus voter fraud charges leveled against PV and ACORN from the last two election cycles. It may or may not gain traction, it may or may not be chosen as a way of attacking him, but I think we cannot afford to ignore the possibility and plan what our response(s) might be (if any).

Understand I’m not suggesting that we gear up to defend a candidateís campaign, but prepare for the scrutiny and possible ancillary attacks that will come our way because of this.

Why does this matter? Transparency, tax dollars, and electoral integrity. ACORN’s own lawyer, Elizabeth Kingsley, acknowledged last year that a vast web of tax-exempt ACORN affiliates were shuffling money around – making it difficult to impossible to track whether campaign rules and tax regulations were being followed. ACORN receives 40 percent of its revenues from taxpayers. Americans deserve to know whether and how much commingling of public money with political projects has occurred over the last four decades – and what role the Obama campaign played in this enterprise.

Remember: Last August, the Obama team admitted its failure to properly disclose $800,000 in payments to ACORN’s subsidiary, CSI – which works hand-in-hand with Project Vote and the ACORN parent organization. Obama mysteriously re-classified the campaign advance work expenditures as “get-out-the-vote” activities. Nary a peep from electoral integrity watchdogs.

Despite heated denials from Team Obama, the links between ACORN, Project Vote, and CSI are inextricable. As Obama himself reminded ACORN leaders after its political action committee endorsed his presidential candidacy in February 2008:

I come out of a grassroots organizing background. That’s what I did for three and half years before I went to law school. That’s the reason I moved to Chicago was to organize. So this is something that I know personally, the work you do, the importance of it. I’ve been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work.

As I’ve reported before, the Obama campaign’s “Vote for Change” registration drive, running in conjunction with ACORN/Project Vote, was an all-out scramble to scrape up every last unregistered voter sympathetic to Obama’s big-government vision.

In an e-mail message to whistleblower MonCrief last summer, New York Times reporter Stephanie Strom told the truth: “The real story to all this is how these myriad entities allow them to shuffle money around so much that no one really knows what’s getting spent on what.” By October 6, 2008, Strom had thrown in the towel in the wake of blistering phone conversations with the Obama campaign. She wrote:

“I’m calling a halt to my efforts. I just had two unpleasant calls with the Obama campaign, wherein the spokesman was screaming and yelling and cursing me, calling me a rightwing nut and a conspiracy theorist and everything else…I’d still like to get that file from you when you have a chance to send it. One of these days, the truth is going to come out.”

It’s only just begun.

Yesterday, I posted a few of the e-mails between NYTimes Stephanie Strom and ACORN/Project Vote whistleblower Anita MonCrief. You can download the entire series of message by clicking here. Mike Gaynor has transcriptions of several of the message here, including:

1. “I’m a little miffed with the funders, too. They have to be aware that the grants they make to c(3)s like Project Vote are being funneled to Acorn, which, whether c(4) or simply nonprofit corporation under state law, they aren’t supposed to give money to. ” July 10, 2008 8:18:52 PM

2. “I really want to see 1024 Elysian Fields in New Orleans. It’s the official ‘home’ of something like 50-plus Acorn related entities. The real story to all this is how these myriad entities allow them to shuffle money around so much that no one really knows what’s getting spent on what — and for the charities like the housing orgs, that’s a problem. Charitable money cannot be spent on political activities. It’s a big no-no that can cost organizations their exemptions. July 31, 2008 5:17:49

“When you say the DC Local waives the credit report charges if clients sign up for bank drafts with ACORN, do you mean ACORN actually runs a banking services organization? That would be news to me. The rumor I’ve heard about the chief organizer’s fund is that this is what the Rathkes have used to ‘repay’ Acorn and the two charities that Dale embezzled from. It’s a huge slush bucket controlled by Wade and Maude Hurd, no one else.” July 31, 2008 5:17:49 PM

3. “You are a gold mine! = ).” July 31, 2008 6:06:26 PM

4. “Thanks so much for this. I’m getting a clear picture of what went down last week with the fund raising letter and their scramble to get money somewhere, anyway, in response to my questions. Why not just say they’re having trouble? So are lots of nonprofit groups right now, even those that arent connected to a scandal of any sort. Sometimes the cover up is worse than what’s being covered up.” August 3, 2008 11:51:15 AM

5. “I’m a bit worried about reaching out to Amy if she’s in the process of rejoining Acorn. Doesn’t that mean she’s drunkt the Koolaid?” August 4, 2008 1:40:52

6. “I don’t need to ‘out’ the member who was intimidated. I basically just need her to confirm what I’ve been told. I can then recount the incident as if I know it to be fact.” September 4, 2008 8:59:59 PM

7. “Am also onto the Obama connection, sadly. Would love the donor lists. As for helping the Repubs, they’re already onto this like white on rice. SIGH.” September 7, 2008 1:59 PM

8.”Separately, I’m wondering whether you can give me any more details about the Nov. 2007 meeting with the Obama camp. Where did it take place? Who was involved? Any details would help.” September 12, 2008 3:57 PM

9. “You’re the best. If we could get the names of two or three people who were either sacked or forced out on suspicion of having passed information to me, that would clearly demonstrate the lie.

“What a mess.” September 13, 2008 9:43 AM

You know there were warning signs...

I kept telling people when Bill Clinton slithered in to office, and clung to it, despite all the scandals, and Impeachment itself-- “He's just a symptom. Like a fever is of a disease- there's something wrong with America.”

Like Popular Culture- look at the magazines-- I call it “thugs & jugs,” or “which Pop Tart is popping out whose baby this week?”

We did it to ourselves, and The New, Improved Black Jesus is merely a symptom.

All civilizations have a shelf life- once enough citizens figure out that by electing the “right” representatives, they can use the power of the government to pick the pockets of others,

Well, we're in the “details,” now.

Obama administration decides it doesn’t want al Qaeda trained Chinese Muslims in US after all.  Amateur hour continues apace.  This arrogant, cream puff pos doesn’t give one damn if the Uighurs populate my street or what havoc they’d reap.

He just got some pushback from unexpected quarters and some negative polling results.  That’s the only reason he’s backtracking on this.

EUGENE VOLOKH: “Wise Latina” speech: troubling.

President Obama agrees.

UPDATE: Latinos for impartiality.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Reader Paul Harper writes:

Is it just me or does the administration seem to be very, very much on the back foot right now? Maybe it’s Kim, maybe it’s the appalling jobless figures, the debt, failed treasuries, or something the Chinese said, but it looks to me like the WH is very much looking for some enemies to blame.

The initial ‘be exceedingly careful’ preemptive attack failed completely to divert attention from the ‘wise Latina’ statement. As a result, the administration can’t rely on patterns of accusations that worked extremely well in the past. Are the Brits the new French?

I think it a big mistake to underestimate the President’s mind-control powers, however, especially over the press. I expect pliant Dems will give him everything he wants. Republicans are currently rudderless.

Well, the press covers for people until it stabs them in the back. Will that happen with Obama? Probably, eventually. I think they hope to put it off 5 or 6 years . . . . Meanwhile, the backtracking probably doesn’t help.

Rush Limbaugh had this to say on Sonia Sotomayor's racist comments: "How Do You Get Promoted in the Obama Administration? ...By Hating White People."

Barack Obama on the other hand said she chose her words poorly and was taken out of context.
Considering her history, this is not likely.

What We Owe: $64 Trillion, And Counting

Dealergate Update: What we have so far

Since we last checked in, here are the latest developments in the rope line of strange occurrences Doug Ross has dubbed Dealergate (Some bloggers prefer Mopargate, but many non-motorheads won't get it. Dealergate it is).

In another of the many pesky coincidences to be found in this story, car czar Steven Rattner, the real head of President Obama's auto task force, is married to Maureen White, a former fundraising chair for the Democratic National Committee. Need dealer donor data? No problem...

Chelsea Schilling examined the political donations made by dealers on Chrysler's closing list, data for whom are now in a spreadsheet database, and found that of the majority owners of dealerships who made contributions to candidates in the 2008 election, less than 10 percent donated to Democrats, while 90 percent gave generously to Republicans:

The listed franchise owners contributed at least $450,000 to Republican presidential candidates and the GOP, while only $7,970 was donated to Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign and $2,200 was given to Sen. John Edwards' campaign.

Obama received a combined total of only $450 in donations – $250 from dealer Jane Baldock in Wenatchee, Wash., and $200 from Waco, Texas, dealer Jeffrey Hunter.

Many of the majority owners who donated to Republican campaigns last year also contributed additional thousands to George W. Bush's presidential campaign in 2004 and to help elect GOP representatives.

With the closing list now in spreadsheet form, all sorts of analyses are being run on the data. The format lends itself well to graphical representation, and a side-by-side comparison of maps of closing dealers and congressional districts is worth more than just a thousand words.

Even though the "safe list" of Chrysler dealers remaining open is not yet completely plugged into spreadsheet format, at least four Democrat-donating major dealer groups owning dozens of dealerships have already been found.  They were spared the executioner's axe, while their nearby competitors received letters which began, "We regret to inform you..."

One of those groups, Lithia Motors has 29 dealerships. It will lose just two of these, but will gain 5 more, leaving it with a net increase of 3 outlets. Lithia chairman Sidney Deboer donated over $14,000 to Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY).

The Obama administration denies that the president's auto task force is playing politics with the Chrysler dealership network:

"We don't make those decisions. Ok (sic)?," said White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs. "Chrysler makes those decisions. So I am sure you can send Chrysler the address of the blog that you refer to."
The armies of the Left are also deploying to defend the president and his auto panel. Nate Silver threw up some numbers in an attempt to justify his contention that car dealers are all mostly Republicans anyway, and so they will therefore donate to Republican candidates. His choice of a source for donor information, however, was not the non-partisan, independent and non-profit OpenSecrets.org, but the partisan and very biased Huffington Post. Silver's hasty conclusion, "There's no conspiracy here, folks...," is hilariously akin to that old pearl, "Nothing to see here, folks. Move along."

Even "fair and balanced" Fox News pulled random samples of 50 dealers from each list, compared them and found no significant differences. Sounds impressive, doesn't it? A sample size of 50, however, is not the statistical stuff from which small margins of error are derived.

Whether the Obama administration is trying to punish auto dealers who supported the president's opponents in the 2008 election or not doesn't matter, according to The Other McCain:

The point is, there was evidence to suggest that the Obama administration may have been wielding its economic power -- gained at future taxpayers' expense -- to punish political enemies. The accusation was serious enough to call for very thorough reporting, but the major media tried to dismiss the accusation before actually doing the reporting.
While the so-called mainstream media is too busy defending the object of its affection, at least two members of the Democrat-controlled congress are beginning to ask some questions of the president's auto task force, a government entity which has so far been free of any congressional oversight and has failed to demonstrate even a grain of transparency. At least one state's bipartisan senatorial delegation has written the auto task force on behalf of Chrysler and GM dealerships that are being closed:
"Many Missouri dealers are asking us why certain profitable dealers, costing the auto companies nothing, were selected for closure," [Claire] McCaskill, a Democrat, and [Kit] Bond, a Republican, wrote to White House car czar Steve Rattner. "From this perspective it appears an arbitrary standard may have been used to make these decisions … these dealers deserve a little more than just a pink slip in the mail."
On the House side, at least one U.S. congressman is also asking questions, and with good reason. Even before receiving his notice from Chrysler, Florida Rep. Vern Buchanan was told by a House colleague that his own Florida dealership is on the chopping block:
"It's an outrage. It's not about me. I'm going to be fine," said Buchanan, the dealership's majority owner. "You're talking over 100,000 jobs. We're supposed to be in the business of creating jobs, not killing jobs," Buchanan told News 10, a local Florida television station.
Where does it all go from here? The tedious and time-consuming work of slamming the safe dealer list -- the complete list, not just a random sample -- has to be completed. Then, and only then, will we have statistically significant answers to the many questions that have been raised by the footloose and fancy free manner in which the Obama administration and MOPAR management appear to have handled the task of pruning down the chrysler dealership network.

We would suggest that if the auto task force and Chrysler want their criteria and methodology to be believed, both should immediately release transcripts -- or at least the meeting minutes -- of their deliberations on the matter of the dealer closings. But don't hold your breath...

Addendum: We almost overlooked one of the most incredible chapters in the story so far. Almost a month ago, even before the closing Chrysler dealers got their notices, the company said that it was looking for new dealers to replace its "underperforming" dealers in small markets. Underperforming, like the many Five Star dealers (previously touted by Chrysler as its very best agencies) that are being closed.  Before the pinks slips were even printed. You can't make this stuff up.

RUSH IN A HURRY -- America's Piqata Strikes Back

I’m pissed at Rush.

Starting in March 2008, I began sending him voluminous emails detailing facts garnered about Barak Obama’s background. Rush never used any of it, nor did it appear that he launched his own researchers to verify any of it. Some of the sources were in British Columbia, Canada, and another in Indonesia. Rush has the monetary resources to send people out and investigate, but no, he did not do anything of the kind.

Now Obama has had ample time to cover his tracks. It is amazing how much public information about this man has been scrubbed from any accessable online source.

Now Republicans who owned Chrysler dealerships are finding that their livelihood is being erased, their businesses yanked away from them, and given instead to racial minority supporters of Obama. This is something typical of banana republics, not the U.S.A.!

Obama has packed the FCC with his supporters - no Conservatives on the commission! - so there is limited time left for the likes of Rush, Levin, and Sean Hannity before their shows disappear and racial minorities and left-wing women predominate the airwaves. Of course, no one will be listening.

It would have been so much easier if the fact that Obama is a British citizen, a foreign national and not a U.S. citizen, had been publicly proclaimed last fall and the election affected. But no, no one with the audience of the size of Rush had the courage to come forward and tell the truth even after Obama acknowledged in on his own online site!

Obama’s father was a British citizen and registered his son as a British citizen shortly after birth. The only way to undo that registration is by legally repudiating such citizenship and naturalizing with another nation. Barak H. Obama II never took any of those legal steps. He is a foreign national and a usurper in OUR White House!

Let Them Eat Cake -- Gays Protest Outside Obama Fundraiser (pictures)

Don’t bother petitioning Barack Obama for a redress of grievances. Barack Obama, the imperious yet bowing vassal to the Saudi Arabian king, can’t be bothered to take notice of Americans with grievances.

The maligned Marie Antoinette is falsely supposed to have replied to the hungry cries of French peasants for “bread!” with the uninformed and callous riposte “Let them eat cake.” Marie, was also blamed for the penurious French treasury and tarred with the epithet Madame Déficit.

Barack Obama is our own real life Madame Déficit and yesterday he regaled Hollywood’s high and mighty powers with his own version of “Let them eat cake.”

Last year Obama visited California and while there among his rich, callous, “creative class” friends, Obama sniffed that small town Americans were “bitter” and clung to God and guns. Yesterday, Obama visited California to once again raise money and fully displayed his contempts.

28 I gotta admit, Obama is a magic negro. The man told everyone exactly what he was going to do, spread the wealth, talk with any dictator he could find, sell Israel down the river, etc., and he still got elected. Now he's doing just what he promised and his popularity still seems intact. That's some serious magic.

These Words Will Haunt President Obama

"It will take a lot of money for a long time to keep Government Motors afloat.

It will take lots of taxpayer money. The Cap and Trade Scam and the newly floated Value Added Tax are going to sail right through the congress because of and over powering liberal membership and their support in the media.

"Is there any Republican around who can make a coherent argument to the public about this?

It appears that there will be very little opposition to the Obama juggernaut. The shell game of a trillion in fake stimulus which no one can account for; the moves against banking and government control of how they loan and the quasi takeover of automakers by a government and labor partnership to be financed by taxpayers will spell almost certain doom for our republic once the republicans are bullied into going along with a takeover of health care.

Everyday I hear more stories of successful and resourceful people planning to wind down their businesses, curb their spending and borrowing and even rethink where they want to live (or move) in the not to distant future.

There is bad stuff going on and for the most part we are helpless. Given the last election returns, it looks like around 50 million Americans are happy to see what is transpiring.
-- Now, what about the 50 million who aren't? I guess we'll just watch the destruction and send emails to our friends with photoshop jokes that make fun of the man who is taking complete control of our lives.

B'nai Brith says without censorship laws there would be "anarchy"

I review Aaron Klein's depressing new book over at my Examiner.com site.

Klein’s new book, The Late Great State of Israel: How Enemies Within and Without Threaten the Jewish Nation's Survival also features his one-of-a-kind, candid encounters with jihadists, who are shockingly blunt about their intentions.

Attention, liberal do-gooders: all that stuff about a “two state solution” and “living in peace” is pure public relations propaganda. The true goal of the “Palestinians” and their worldwide sympathizers is simply this: to eliminate the state of Israel, and eventually, every Jew on the face of the earth.

These gay community “leaders” are complicit in this ugly episode because when it was time to stand up for their community and against Barack Obama these “leaders” remained silent.

We wrote about the complicity of gay community “leaders” in The Shame Of The Democratic Left, Part III:

The Democratic Left, and yes, Gay-American leaders, threw Gay-Americans under the bus this past year in order to worship at the unworthy Barack Obama’s altar. Now the Democratic Left and Gay-American leaders are whining that Obama has stabbed them in the back.

Not once during the primaries nor during the general election did these leaders hold Obama to account. Not once did these leaders threaten to withhold votes – the only language political thugs like Obama understand. Now they are whining.

Barack Obama has indeed stabbed Gay-Americans in the back. Barack Obama can’t be trusted… by friend nor foe… Obama simply can’t be trusted. But the very late protests by the Democratic Left are whines from hypocrites.

One of the issues on which we prominently opposed Obama was the issue of gay rights. We prophetically wrote:

Gay-Americans must realize that Obama has gay-bashed in the past. If it comes down to getting votes from evangelical voters, socially conservative African-Americans or any constitutency group – Obama will betray Gay-Americans:

Shock. Dem Dealers Support Chrysler Closing Plans

Published on 5/28/2009 in the Riverside Press

The above ad appeared in several national newspapers this week including the The Wilmington News Journal on page A18, Thursday, May 28, 2009, and The Riverside Press.
The ad is in support of the Chrysler National Dealer Council.
Exit82 reported:

The ad is a full page and reads like a BS account of why the elimination of dealers was necessary, good for Chrysler, so sorry it had to happen to some of our friends, blah, blah, blah.

I believe this ad was part of a nationwide ad buy in many papers because it is written to a antional audience.

My BS meter pinged immediately.

The following people/dealers were listed at the bottom of the ad, supposedly supporting it. We should study the list to see the if they were retained and what party they donated to:

Mickey Anderson
Baxter Chrysler Jeep Dodge
Omaha, NE

Jim Arrigo
Arrigo Dodge Chrysler Jeep
West Palm Beach, FL

Sid DeBoer
Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Inc.(Bingo—a Lithia member)

John Schenden

Thornton, CO

Bill Shepherd
Greenbrier Chrysler Jeep
Chesapeake, VA

Joel Sporn
Westbury C-J
Westbury, NY

The ad also announced a website called ChryslerDealerSupport.
Smith6450 discovered this:

Here’s what I found on the dealers on the list:

1. Mickey Anderson is a GOP donor.
2. Carlos Hidalgo and McSkimming gave no money to candidates, but their local Dodge competitors will be closed down. They will each be the only chrysler dealers in their areas.
3. John Myers gave no money to candidates, but their local Jeep competitor will close. Myers will be the only local Chrysler dealer in the area.

Since 2007, the following dealers gave money to candidates:

1. Jim Arrigo gave $3,300 to Ron Klein (D)
2. Chuck Eddy gave $500 to John Boccieri (D)
3. Charles Foulke gave $6,900 to Robert Andrews (D) and $6,300 to various Democrats from 1994-2000
4. Andrew Palmer gave $750 to Russ Feingold (D) and $500 to Paul Ryan (R)
5. John Schenden gave $900 to Joan Fitz-Gerald (D)
So the democratic dealers who were left untouched and those dealers who lost local competitors support the Chrysler closings.
What a shock!

Here's another look at the dealers from Open Secrets:

Mickey Anderson- $2,000 GOP candidates
Jim Arrigo- $3,300 Dem candidates
Sidney DeBoer- $18,900 Dem candidates
Chuck Eddy- $500 to Dem candidates
Hayden Elder- no record
Charlie Foulke- $13,000+ to Dem candidates (1993-2000)
Bill Golling- no record
Carlos Hidalgo- no record
Mike Lowrey- $8,050 GOP, $250 Ron Paul
Bill McSkimming- no record
Jon Myers- $850 Dem candidates
Eric Nielsen- $5,600 GOP candidates
Andrew Palmen- $750 Dem candidate (Russ Feingold)
Gary Panteck- $2,500 to Car Dealers Assn.
John Schenden- $900 Dem candidates, $5,000 Car Dealer Assn.
Bill Shepherd- no record
Joel Sporn- no record

Conclusion: 7 gave to Dem candidates-- 3 gave to GOP candidates including Ron Paul.

Related... No wonder these democratic dealerships supported the closings:

The ratio of donations for dealers that were shuttered was 42 to 1, GOP to Democrat.

** 40 Democrat-friendly dealerships will become 42 dealerships after the dust settles. Their competition gutted as well.

Gov. Mitch Daniels Attacks Dem's Cap & Tax Bill in Weekly GOP Address

Barack Obama admitted in an interview with The San Francisco Chronicle during the 2008 campaign that cap and trade energy policy would "cause electricity prices to skyrocket."
Via Special Report with Bret Baier

Indiana Republican Governor Mitch Daniels attacked Democrats today for the massive Cap & Tax bill that will decimate the US economy and cost American families $700 to $1,400 per year.
Real Clear Politics reported:

Republicans on Saturday attacked the climate change proposal crafted by congressional Democrats and endorsed by President Barrack Obama as doing little to reduce global warming while saddling Americans with high energy costs.

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, in the GOP's weekly radio and Internet address, called the House climate bill "a classic example of unwise government." The address culminated a week of coordinated Republican attacks on the Democratic proposal which would require the first nationwide reductions in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases blamed for global warming.

GOP House members used the weeklong Memorial Day congressional recess to drum up voter opposition to the Democratic bill. The governor's criticism echoed Republican lawmakers' arguments at "energy summits" in Pennsylvania, Indiana and California and at other forums during the week.

The proposal to cap greenhouse emissions "will cost us dearly in jobs and income and it stands no chance of achieving its objective of a cooler earth" because other nation's such as China and India will not have to follow, argues Daniels, according to a transcript of the Saturday address.

"The cost for all American taxpayers will be certain, huge, and immediate. Any benefits are extremely uncertain, minuscule, and decades distant," maintains Daniels.

The climate bill would require a 17 percent reduction in greenhouse gases by 2020 and 83 percent reduction by mid-century. It advanced from the House Energy and Commerce Committee shortly before lawmakers left Washington for their holiday break, getting only one GOP vote.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said she wants to take up the measure in the full House this summer.

"The national energy tax imposed by Speaker Pelosi's climate change bill would double electric bills here in Indiana, working a severe hardship on low income families, but that's only where the damage starts," says Daniels. "In a state where we like to make things, like steel and autos and RVs, it would cost us countless jobs. ... Our farmers and livestock producers would see their costs skyrocket. and our coal miners would be looking for new work."
FOX News has more on the GOP address.

White House pushing to gag stimulus critics

May 30, 2009 10:03 AM by Michelle Malkin

Caution: Obama gangland tactics at work.

( More thuggery trying to shut down the media:

In keeping with his past campaign tactics to shut critics up through brute force, the White House appears to be taking steps to crack down on critics of the trillion-dollar porkulus law.

Is anyone surprised? Mark Tapscott at the Examiner reports:108 Comments |

So, I think it’s meet and good that we start thinking about what we’d like to have in an America-themed Las Vegas casino, where we can all go to be nostalgic. I nominate Lileks and Iowahawk to help frame the idea. Maybe Obama will come to dedicate the Casino SuXxOr, or whatever we call it.

P.J. O’ROURKE: “The fate of Detroit isn’t a matter of economics. It’s a tragic romance, whose magic was killed by bureaucrats, bad taste and busybodies.” Plus this: “We’re way the heck out here in Valley Bottom Heights and Trout Antler Estates because we were at war with the cities. We fought rotten public schools, idiot municipal bureaucracies, corrupt political machines, rampant criminality and the pointy-headed busybodies. . . . And thanks to our cars, when we lost the cities we weren’t forced to surrender, we were able to retreat.”

Found this interesting, and obscure, op-ed by a small Texas county GOP chair. People like this are the future of the GOP. He gets it, and isn’t afraid to put his name, and words, into the fight. Russ Duerstine is Tom Green County Republican Party chair.

I happened to be browsing through the AoSHQ threads and I was alerted through our email system to a post by Irish Rose which is as follows:

Do you know what it means to be “intellectually dishonest”?

You’re a smart enough person, so I’d guess that you do.

Since you seem to be a bit challenged in the honesty department, though, I’ll post the def here from Wiki:

Intellectual dishonesty is dishonesty in performing intellectual activities like thought or communication. Examples are:

* the advocacy of a position which the advocate knows or believes to be false or misleading

* the advocacy of a position which the advocate does not know to be true, and has not performed rigorous due diligence to ensure the truthfulness of the position

* the conscious omission of aspects of the truth known or believed to be relevant in the particular context.

Now, you and I both know that Mr. Johnson isn’t collecting documentation about certain individuals simply because these people “disagree” with him… you know it full well.

ed. note: he sure the hell has!

So don’t be an ignoramus and post your intellectually dishonest crapola here. This blogger knows better and is going to call you on it.

Look, friend… this is the way it works in the real world:

Negative and dishonest actions and behaviors come with consequences, consequences that are usually painful… sometimes very painful. It’s a hard fact of life, and a sad lesson that we all have to learn eventually (some of us learn it sooner rather than later).

The arrogant blog jockeys who have been attacking Mr. Johnson relentlessly for months on end - slandering him in public and libeling him on every website that will give them the bandwidth to do so - have stupidly fooled themselves into thinking that they can’t be identified.

They also believe that they are above accountability, for some odd reason.

They’re wrong on both counts, as they will soon be finding out.

You didn’t really think that Mr. Johnson was going to let you get away with smears, slander and libel indefinitely, did you?

Your time of reckoning has arrived. So enjoy those painful consequences, friend… I hear that they go down good with a nice slice of humble pie.
********************************************************************************

Looks like a threat to me.

"… so she claims that Charles isn’t collecting private information and outing folks online, then follows it (as evidence) by stating that folks that ’slander’ (a subjective term, given the person involved) Charles will have to face the consequences and shouldn’t expect to be able to remain anonymous?...meanwhile, Charles puts up a thread ripping on us (again) and puts up a picture and real name of savagenation (again) and puts up a misleading quote (without backstory) to make savagenation out to be a radical psycho (again)."

"...just trying to scare us into being quiet. It is internet terrorism….. the cyber version of rioting and burning cars."

"Wow, this is really starting to verge on silly. CJ and his followers are accusing others of stalking while they are the ones who are looking for real names and “outing” them on the internet. Seems as if Irish Rose doesn’t quite get the real definition of intellectual dishonesty."

I got this link from a poster whose name escapes me at this early hour, but…

The Obamas Jet To NYC For ‘Play Date’

The presidential limo waits outside as U.S. President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama see the play "Joe Turner’s Come and Gone" during a personal visit in New York May 30, 2009.

First couple’s date: dinner and a Broadway show

By ANN SANNER, Associated Press Writer

Saturday, May 30, 2009

(05-30) New York (AP) — President Barack Obama made good on a campaign promise to his most important supporter Saturday night — his wife, Michelle.

The president and first lady jetted to a date in New York late Saturday afternoon, aides and media in tow.

"I am taking my wife to New York City because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished," the president said in a statement an aide read to the press.

After dining a little more than two hours at Blue Hill, a West Village restaurant touted by New York magazine as a "seminal Greenmarket haven" that features food grown by chef and owner Dan Barber on his upstate farm, the president and first lady headed to the Belasco Theater to make curtain call for "Joe Turner’s Come and Gone."

The play by August Wilson is about black America in the early 1900s, with residents of a boardinghouse recalling their migration from the sharecropping farms of the South to the industrialized North.

As the motorcade left the West Village and drove up Sixth Avenue to the theater, crowds of people, at times about eight deep, gathered on the sidewalks of the blockaded streets to wave as the Obamas passed. Some cheered. Cab drivers opened their doors and stood on the frames of their taxis to glimpse the president and first lady.

The White House declined to say how much the trip was costing taxpayers, and even before the smaller jet left Washington, the there-and-back trip drew criticism from the Republican National Committee. The RNC issued a news release that chastised Obama for saying he understands American’s troubles, but then hopping up to New York for "a night on the town."

Noting that General Motors is expected to file for Chapter 11 protection on Monday, the news release said: "Putting on a show: Obamas wing into the city for an evening out while another iconic American company prepares for bankruptcy."

In an interview before his inauguration, Barack Obama said he and his wife like having "date nights," usually on Fridays. Since moving to Washington, the Obamas have managed to fit in at least a few nights out in the nation’s capital

How much will this cost the US taxpayers?

Mind you, this is the same man who chided people for using their own money to go to Las Vegas.

By the way, note that the Obamas went to a ‘black’ show.

When does he ever pay homage to his white side?

(Thanks to Caligirl9 for the heads up.)

"While us lowlife taxpayers work nights and weekends in part to pay the incredibly high tax burden he will put on us, he takes weekends off, on our dime. While we sit and freeze this winter because we can’t afford to turn the furnace up to even comfortable levels because of his crap and tirade scheme, he will have himself sweating it out in a short sleeve shirt in the White House, again, on our dime."

OBAMA TO OFFER HIS "PERSONAL COMMITMENT" TO MUSLIMS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CAIRO

His personal commitment? Perhaps Obama will come clean. One thing is fosho, Obama exonerated me from every vile leftwing accusation during the run up to the election. He proved everything I said to be true.

Will Obama be the first Muslim leader in history to be kind to the Jews and infidels? Color me skeptical.

Obama speech to offer personal commitment to Muslims AFP (hat tip Susan)

President Barack Obama will offer a "personal commitment" to bridge US differences with Muslims in his long-awaited speech to the Islamic world next week in Egypt, aides said.

But White House advisors said Friday that Obama would not shy away from addressing "tough issues" in the speech on Thursday at the University of Cairo which will be co-hosted by Al-Azhar University, an ancient center of Islam and learning.

"The speech will outline his personal commitment to engagement, based upon mutual interests and mutual respect," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.

I don't respect persecution of Christians,  honor killings, clitorectomies, shariah law, Jew hatred, 911...........................

"He will discuss how the United States and Muslim communities around the world can bridge some of the differences that have divided them.

UPDATE: Must we respect this too, Hussein Obama?

On May 10th,  2008, Egypt's Culture Minister, Faruq Hosni, a candidate to become UNESCO's director general, said following a question by an opposition deputy in parliament,

"I'd burn Israeli books myself if I found any in libraries in Egypt."

UPDATE: Airlift of 3,000 Secret Servicemen to Cairo to secure Obama speech to Muslims

DEBKAfile Special Report May 31, 2009, 8:51 AM (GMT+02:00)

US president Barack Obama has not yet decided whether his historic speech reaching out to the Muslim world will be delivered on June 4 from a lecture hall at Al Azhar University in Cairo or its main mosque, DEBKAfile's Middle East sources report. If the second, his address will take place in the presence of Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa, the Sunni Muslim world's greatest religious authority. In any event, Al Azhar is the most eminent school of Islamic learning in the world and the US president therefore expects its impact to far outweigh his first address to Muslims from Istanbul.

His arrival from a meeting with Saudi King Abdullah in Riyadh on June 3 is planned to add extra weight to Obama's dramatic outreach to Muslims, since the king officiates as Custodian of the Holy Places to Islam.

Radical Muslims will therefore have all the more reason for rejecting it.

Giant transports have been landing at Cairo airport, unloading a fleet of armored vehicles, White House helicopters, counter-terror weapons and the vanguard of the 3,000 Secret Service officers backed by CIA and FBI personnel who will secure the US president during his stay in Egypt. Cairo will soon be in turmoil as forces are deployed from a command center at the American Embassy to control sections of downtown Cairo, with guard posts on the Nile River's banks, the international airport, main railway terminals and approaches to the city.

Some 30,000 Egyptian security personnel including army units stationed in Cairo have been placed on special duty until the American president leaves. Their names and those of the welcoming party at Al Azhar University were submitted to the US presidential security center.

Actually, the beauty of the situation (from the Obama standpoint) is that it really doesn’t matter - the only thing that matters is that business people develop the impression that if they don’t go along with the administration there’s a good chance they’ll get screwed by it.

It’s standard Chicago machine politics - a key aspect of the “pay-for-play” approach.
