In reviewing Barack Obama's health care overhaul, the U.S. Supreme Court has pushed into territory it hasn't approached since the days of Franklin D. Roosevelt.
"This is a central challenge to the modern Constitution, which was fashioned during the New Deal and then elaborated further during the civil rights revolution," said Bruce Ackerman, a professor at Yale Law School in New Haven, Connecticut and author of "The Decline and Fall of the American Republic" and 14 other books. "This goes to the very foundations of modern American government."
The court will determine whether the government can force millions of people to obtain insurance. The decision may influence the outcome of November's presidential election. The potential legal impact has few parallels in the court's history.

I have said all along that SCOTUS would not overturn this travesty. They have already let the government spend 100's of Billions in creating the implementation bodies, which Michelle Bachman fought valiantly to get defunded, but Boehner crashed and trashed her efforts by claiming some delude nonsense about a rule.
We will have government health care even if we elect the apparent nominee, by that time I will have squeezed the last bit of care out of my health plan, and at my age I will get no more, that I know.

I agree with both of you, but I’ll just throw out a twist: I think it already is a dead country walking, but that would speed it up. The simple fact that there are so many in this country overtly pro socialist and anti free market says it all. It’s like watching Dr Zivago.
If I was not a Christian and consider this life an incredibly temporary thing, I’d be mightily depressed by what I am seeing happen to this country, and where it is going.
Some liberals on the internet make fun of my place in Kentucky as a “bunker”, but if the SCOTUS sides with Obama, I may just need to build one.

Sums up the problem right there. There is no "modern" Constitution, just the one that has been largely ignored since the New Deal.
You will see large swaths of the south, the Rocky Mountain states and the midwest become bunkers with a few urban enclaves for the nanny staters.
You will see the rest of the country become places where the nanny staters reign supreme with a few rural bunkers for the rest of us. The outcome won't be pretty.
But I'd still place my bets on those who control the production of food and materials over those who control the government, media, law and distribution of health care.

You touched on what our Framers corrected with our Constitution. Courts in colonial America were King’s Courts. The judges served at the pleasure of the King. They protected the prerogatives of the sovereign, the King.
With revolution, we the people became the sovereign. Our independent judiciary is supposed to protect our interests as expressed in the document they swore allegiance to.
Instead, our Judges do what the King’s judges did 240 years ago. Protect and advance the interests of the Executive/King/President.
I will not be that easy for obama in the South.
