God gave us Reagan when America truly needed him. Thank God, that He has a good bench and has seen fit to give us G.W. Bush in our Time of Need now.

Beautifully written and very insightful. Police officers don't believe in coincidence. How many signs do people need to see to realize that God has blessed America time and again.

God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength but with your testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Thank you for your post.

I just wanted to check in and say thanks to everybody in the FreeRepublic community. Ronald Reagan was responsible for making so many of us here conservatives, and having everyone here to reminisce about the man and celebrate his life and his legacy was a wonderful experience. God Bless Mr. Reagan and his family.

I have been keeping up with the news at home as I was under the weather the past few days. This was such sad news, but he is in a much better place now. I had to watch a couple of the major news anchors, and Peter Jennings was almost happy during his newscast. That man is so sick, he makes me want to puke.

The relationships between humans is so versatile. I look at RR/NR as very good/healty. Maybe dependent? okay. Love is that way. they fed & enabled each other to greatness. There is nothing wrong with that. as a female with love stories of the past and as a therapist who has "seen it all"... let us never discount the type of relationship of men & women that will generate greatness.

So true. None of us can know what kind of relationship Ron and Nancy really had, but if it genuinely was true love, and I see no reason to doubt that, then no one who has not experienced this can understand. It is a celebration of the universe every time you look into that person's eyes for the first time in the morning, and it is such that even in the bad times you cannot imagine a life without that person. It happens rarely, I think. Some of us get lucky. I did, until mental illness stole my soulmate from me. As hard as that was to live through, I can only imagine how much harder it was for Nancy to watch Ron slip from vibrancy to what he must have been at the end. To watch the person you would die for slowly slip away into another person, a stranger, is a whole different kind of pain. I hope Nancy is now free to remember better times, knowing that Ron has found peace at last.

I would humbly suggest to all readers that rather than send flowers/etc (you KNOW they're going to be horribly overwhelmed with that stuff) make a contribution to your favorite charity in RR's name

Make that favorite charity the Bush-Cheney 04 campaign. Let's re-elect the Reagan hiers.

I had the great honor of voting for him twice, campaigning for him three times, for being at three of his speeches, and most importanly, for serving when he was Commander--in-Chief.

Thank-you God, for one of the most important presidents in American history.

This is the first time I got back on the net since he died. God bless you sir, may you be with Jesus.
Just turning 18, he was the first President I was able to vote for, and probably will be the best.

"Just turning 18, he was the first President I was able to vote for, and probably will be the best."

I was only 12 years old and from a Democratic family back during the 1980 election, but even then I understood that Reagan was the correct choice. I couldn't vote, but both of my parents voted for Reagan. That year, they changed parties and never looked back.

God Bless Ronald Reagan. He was truly a great leader and inspiration.

Fair winds and following seas, Mr. President. I thank God Almighty for his gift of your service that was bestowed upon this great country and for his final, merciful release of your soul from your tortured body. I can only carry the comfort in my heavy heart of knowing that I will be able to see you again one day and be able to thank you personally.

God bless, and farewell for now.

Ronald Reagan was responsible for making so many of us here conservatives, and having everyone here to reminisce about the man and celebrate his life and his legacy was a wonderful experience.

His presidency formed my political thought and leanings in my teenage years. He will be sadly missed but gloriously remembered right here on Free Republic.
