FREEDOM! US Catholic Church Rolls Out Major Offensive Against Obama’s Attacks on Religious Liberty

“AS A NON CATHOLIC, I can’t for the life of me, figure out how a Catholic could possilbe bring themselves to vote Democrat.”

Many Catholics came from oppressive places to seek refuge in the United States and many of them have slowly evolved into the very attitude that they fled.

They vote Democrat, they love Democrat, and they love Democrat because Progressives preach a cosmic social justice that is never satisfied and always fed, no matter what it demands; including little babies, tax money and the dignity of others.

This didn’t go so well in my church this weekend.

The priest got up and gave some wishy wash stuff about how he wasn’t weighing in on politics and healthcare (so as not to offend any Sandra Flukes in the audience).. Just that the government needed to respect the church. Then he used as his centerpiece the Alabama immigration law and said how the “state” down there put in a law that prevents the church from allowing “undocumented peoples” from attending mass and receiving communion. .

He turned the whole directive of the archbishop into a personal message on how we need to welcome all the illegals into America.

Exactly.

The Catholic Church is, at it’s heart and soul, liberal and socialist. Their “social justice” doctrine fits hand-and-glove into post-60’s Democratic politics.

They’re just having a little spat because they’re being told what to do, and “no one” tells The Church what to do.... because they’re “The Church.”

I can see how you could draw that conclusion from observing the USCCB. But authority begins with the bishop, and ends with the Vatican.

The Church has criticized communism and socialism in the harshest terms, when teaching authoritatively.

My wife's family was dem Catholic till this. About half will not vote for Obama now, but will vote for all the down ticket Dems.

It is a “tribal thing” as described by one of my cousins. The feeling among many is that the Republicans are just to “mean” and don't support the poor. Suspect it goes back a lot farther than that, to the days when the only support the Irish immigrants could get was from the Dem machine bosses who used the gangs to control parts of New York.

In recent history, Pope John Paul II denounced liberation theology in Central and South America, and sparked the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe.

The Bishops will have too big a battle on their hands with the “social justice” contingent within their own flock. The most feared word to any top-level Catholic cleric is the word “schizm”. They desperately want this cup to pass from them.

Personally I think that is naive. They have already shown their hand by opposing the Great and Powerful Oz. The Leftists will never, ever forget this, and for the rest of our lifetimes they will be seeking opportunities to take out their revenge against the Church.

What's surprising is how long it's taken the church (Catholic and Evangelical) to understand that the heart of leftism and democrat politics is the darkness of atheism. Like I said, this new anti-religious edict of the administration is opening lots of eyes.

I’ll bet if you took the date and author off the Encyclical on Socialism and presented it to... oh, a dozen priests and a dozen bishops today, almost all the priests and perhaps half the bishops would react rather forcefully against it.

Well sir, I did give them credit, it's why I posted the article.

I also agreed with the poster, when they laid down with the democrats starting in the sixties (and earlier in some cases), they didn't understand how far outside the spiritual realm the democrats would step.

This is recent, literally in the last month and a half that they've woken up, and only because the hand that's been leading them around by the snout slapped them hard.
