I’m not sure which bishop has jurisdiction over this fruitcake, or over America magazine’s editor, but both should be clearly and quickly refuted. America Magazine we know is a leftist rag, but many “average” Catholics don’t know, and the Jesuit elite still have cachet among them. All the more reason huge glaring lies like this must be put down immediately, and rightly by the bishop (who of course will be excoriated for repressing free speech).
If that’s not done, I hope we’ll see a rebuttal letter fast from a prestigious and intellectually respectable priest, it would be best if another high-profile Jesuit, someone like Kenneth Baker, Robert Spitzer, or Mitch Pacwa.
As I was reading this drivel I thought this is probably the same argument they used in Spain. Wait until Obama promotes his LBHT agenda (it’s on his webpage). Will that be OK in addition to killing babies? What follows next will probably be taxing Church/church property to promote tax fairness.

I gave up watching the news a long time ago but had the tv on this evening when the national news began. NBC started off with an election board showing the vote count for Obama and McCain! Since when can Americans (not traveling out of the country) cast their votes in October!? There were already long lines in Ft Lauderdale FL and Hillary Clinton was out there encouraging people to vote now. What the h--k!! What is happening in our country?
It's is frustrating and very disheartening. How do we reach these A & P Catholics? The media know and court all the dissident Catholic prelates like Greeley. They showcase them as 'authorities' or 'experts' in any and all discussion forums involving the Catholic Church. The A & P Catholics buy into that and nod in agreement.
We must admit, however, that Archbishop Burke's outspokeness garnered media attention. With him now at the Vatican, it appears Archbishop Chaput is stepping lively into the same role. Pray for him and for our country.

BTW-My brother, who is an abortion advocate, gets very uncomfortable when I put abortion in terms of killing babies. I think we need to be direct.
I believe it was NY Cardinal Egan, responding to Pelosi, who publicly stated that the days of claiming the fetus is nothing more than a blob of cells, ended with the scientific advance of technology that allows us to see into the womb. We see babies waving at us!
Sadly, as evidenced by this self-proclaimed 'pro-life' woman, there are still those who will disregard all technoligical proof and 'spin' their words to justify their own personal agenda. Conversion of heart comes through prayer. We need to pray for your this woman and your brother.
