Did a planetary wobble kill the dinosaurs?
by Nicola Jones
New Scientist
June 27 2001
Bruce Runnegar from the University of California at Los Angeles' Center for Astrobiology... and his colleagues used computer models to map out the Solar System for the past 250 million years. In particular, they looked at the perihelion of each planet - the point in its orbit where it is closest to the Sun. The perihelion of Earth rotates around the Sun with a period of hundreds of thousands of years. Because of subtle tugs and pulls between the planets, this period changes slightly with time... Their model suggests one of these blips significantly changed Mercury's orbit 65 million years ago. This wobble would have pulled at the asteroid belt, increasing the chances that asteroids in the Hungarias region would be knocked out of place. Now the researchers are running a fresh set of models to see how much the orbits of these asteroids changed. It wouldn't have been enough to send a shower of asteroids into the Earth, but Runnegar says the wobble could have sent a single asteroid onto collision course with our planet... Now he is planning to run his models forward in time, to see when the next potentially catastrophic planetary wobble will be.

This is such a mess, but *may* be his best work.

Ralph Ellis returns to The Russell Scott Show

“Having seen so many similarities between the Israelites and Egypt, I felt sure that the Book of Genesis should also contain elements of Hyksos Egyptian culture. But how could this be so if the rivers of Eden were the Euphrates and Tigris? The answer to this is simple, because the Hebrew Bible does not mention a Euphrates or Tigris at all. What it does mention is a river that runs through Eden and splits into four branches, and this just has to be a reference to the Nile running through the Garden of Akhenaton’s Aton (Adon), and splitting into the four branches of the Nile Delta. Ergo: the Genesis story has to be based upon Akhenaton and his brand of alternative theology.” ~ Ralph Ellis

In this interview:

Why the biblical exodus started
The flood
Where Mt. Sinai was located
Who were Aaron and Moses?
The true purpose of the Great Pyramid at Giza
The parting of the Sea of Reeds
The Thomas Verenna Affair
The true identities of Adam and Eve revealed
.. and countless epiphanies from the mind of Ralph Ellis

The last time I built a sorted list of the Catastrophism topics on FR, it was 4290 of ‘em in three columns (see message 246), and back on April Fool’s Day 2016.

The number is 5068 topics now, a mere 700-something more topics. Not sure I want to post all of them again, so maybe I’ll just post the additions.

He was right in his Ages In Chaos series. While I've always been a little uneasy (I guess that's the right word) with his Worlds In Collision, that was similarly built from the ground up, and his overall view -- that the Solar System isn't just spinning down from a fixed initial condition -- has come to prevail. His more specific views have also prevailed in scrutiny. Anyone interested in witch hunts / trials of the star chamber / inquisition should at the very least come around to a study of what he had to endure.

Thanks BL, I'll check it out from a newer machine (won't load here). I'm always amused by those who claim that Jupiter enabled life on Earth to avoid extinction by clearing the Solar System of asteroids. Ridiculous. Jupiter's encounters with small bodies will always show a random scatter, and most of Jupiter's moons are relatively small and in retrograde, diagnosic of capture.
